I’m going to have to give this one another try, as I did not enjoy it too much. I may have not steeped it long enough to really get all the flavors and it tasted more like I may have accidentally mistaken potpourri for tea. Okay maybe not that bad like that spiced apple stuff from Teavana.

Not like I didn’t drink it all anyway, but it could have been better. I wasn’t getting much of anything other than the spice and I think maybe the fruit flavors weren’t coming out like they should have and that was the problem to my taste buds.

Ok really trying to catch up on teas now. I’m almost halfway through though, so that’s a plus! If I don’t include that I haven’t drank many of the secondary teas people included in the 12 Teas of Christmas swap haha.

This was really good, and I’m bummed I used it all up, but mostly because it was just the comforting flavor I needed when I drank it. It was like a tea hug. There’s just something about orange spice that feels good when you’re not feeling too well. I had added just a little sugar to it in hopes of giving it maybe some kind of spiced cookie taste which I enjoyed.

It also really reminded me of when we stuck cloves into an orange for Christmas at school. I have no idea why, because I remember making my mom let me make one at home and I FULLY covered that orange and then I think she never wanted me to do it again. But looking it up I found out a) it’s called a pomander and b) if you completely cover the surface of the peel with cloves it can last for months. I WAS THINKING LONG TERM, MOM.

Anna

Oh, I love pomanders – we make lots every year and hang all over the house. My fingertips hurt for days, but it smells so, so good – definitely worth it.

ok time to start on the 12 teas of Christmas swap finally. I’ve had two. I may get to the third day tonight but I’m not sure.

So I actually had this one on Christmas though yeah! or maybe it was the day after. Whatever day it was, a cranberry fell on the floor and before I had a chance to grab it, one of the dogs ate it. This tea is clearly that great.

I think I had this before and I did like it, and it was so good to have it again. Definitely one of those teas you like on a colder morning. It also tastes a bit like apple to me with all the apple pieces for sweetness in there. I do like this one a lot more now that I’ve had it again. But I don’t need more tea…ah.

drank Mint Majesty by Teavana

I’ve been drinking this a lot at work because I’ve gotten sick…it started on my birthday yaaaaaaay

This is just a standard blend of peppermint and spearmint. I don’t see it on their site? Offhand I’m not sure if it’s entirely a dupe of Tazo refresh which I may have to drink next.

But yeah if you’ve ever heard of half mint tea, half steamed lemonade/apple juice from Starbucks, I think it’s helped. I kind of want another but I don’t want to go outside.

Trying out the steepster app! Pretty jazzy. I have a bunch of SBT bags from the zoomdweebies kick starter and more will be coming so time to always have iced tea around! This one was sitting in my living room for some reason so I decided to make it. I sweetened it just a little while it steeped which was just right.

I think I have had this one before but I might be thinking of the Cuba Libre tea haha but this is similar minus the boozy flavor. It’s delicious and refreshing and it doesn’t even matter if it’s cold outside.

Aimee Popovacki

there’s an app!? is it for android or apple?

Kaylee

Apple :(

drank Dragonfruit Devotion by Teavana

So now you can get a “free ounce of tea” with a Starbucks reward but this actually means you still have to get a minimum two ounces and pay for one. Whatever. Aren’t you surprised that something involving Teavana wasn’t fully revealed?

I actually had no idea then what to get…not that I knew what I wanted in the first place. So with that on top of my 40% off I decided to go for four ounces of this once I smelled it and saw the ingredients. Hell, it smells so good this girl who was waiting for a prepared cup of tea had to get some too and she wasn’t even directly in the path to have the lid fanned at her!

Most of my glasses anymore are these free beer glasses I keep acquiring somehow. I got two two days in a row. Technically the other one was $12 but it paid for beer and a donation to a non-profit but yeah, they’re the perfect iced tea glasses if you get one that’s more like a pint. This tea just makes way more sense iced and I was having it with dinner, which was homemade pizza, so good choices all around.

I actually don’t think I have ever had a dragonfruit, but I think this tastes more of guava and there is something oddly floral about it. I assume that’s magnolia. I know the floral flavor of rose or jasmine but this was just very different.

I ended up resteeping the same tea and having it iced again and that toned down the floral aspect of the tea while keeping the fruitiness. It was just a bit much in a full glass of tea and I don’t think I could have handled a second.

I think this ended up being like $2 an ounce for me so that’s awesome.

JustJames

i don’t like fresh dragon fruit. i find it disappointingly dry compared to how exotic it looks. but it’s great in this tea…. and it awesome mixed in with ‘weight to go’ (stupid name) and cold steeped.

Sil

You have to get a minimum of 2oz to redeem your reward??

momo

yeah. I was discussing this with someone yesterday about how it made sense but now I don’t remember what it was. But it would be nice to at least make that pretty clear instead of going in there thinking it’s going to be completely free and no money will be spent.

drank Champagne Sangria Punch by Teavana
1220 tasting notes

I made this this morning but got distracted when surprise maintenance came by! I had to hide my bird. Jeez. I had no idea they were coming. Anyway this wasn’t very good hot so it was good to let it cool off.

Again this is another one of those Teavana teas that smells amazing but just can’t translate into taste. I can’t remember now if I added sugar or not. I want to say I didn’t.

Hot, the full body in the description really showed itself. It was definitely like a heavy red wine, but it just wasn’t enjoyable. Also that might be weird for something that’s supposed to be champagne. The description talks up red wine but there’s nothing beyond a smell in here that really screams champagne. Just something about the sourness of grape and hibiscus did not match hot tea. So I let it cool off. I didn’t add ice, so I think I more or less had it at room temperature.

I have an idea though, maybe just a splash of carbonated water could make it better? I’ll have to try it fully iced that way.

Lynxiebrat

LOL. I have to agree with your review, though I liked it a little bit more…but not enough to want to get it again.

drank White Chocolate Peppermint by Teavana
1220 tasting notes

Once my bigger discount kicked in I headed for Teavana to buy a gift and this tea for myself. Of course, I had a salesperson who was just fine with giving me a tin without even asking and overpoured by half an ounce…but then this guy who works there who I actually like is all, uhh did you even show her the 8 oz tin? So instead of spending $17 on 4 oz I spent $24 on 8 oz and got a better looking tin. Jeez. Don’t worry I made it up to her by being super difficult upon checkout. (Not on purpose.)

So I had tasted this there and knew it was sweetened (hahaha never fear I bought my rock sugar at my own job) and obviously being like peppermint bark tea it’s fine by me. I’ve been hit hard by the peppermint chocolate bug…last Wednesday I ate two peppermint brownie cake pops AT WORK but I was there 8 hours so I don’t see a real problem, except for two days later I was eating peppermint bark and buying this. I told my manager about the awesome deal and she’s like why did you buy half a pound of tea at once. PEPPERMINT.

So I was trying to slightly hold off on drinking this but I can’t resist any longer, it has been way too long since my latest peppermint chocolate fix.

I was impressed how it didn’t at all taste like rooibos in store but I’m sure my own sugar tastes don’t match Teavana and at home I get a bit of it with just a couple little rocks but ughhh it actually tastes like white chocolate peppermint bark. I also left the room in the midst of drinking it and came back and it smelled SO GOOD.

I’d love to try this DavidsTea that’s similar but given I paid $3/oz $4.82/oz with shipping on top of that is rather high when I am quite content with this (but curious because cocomint cream was so good). Also yeah having half a pound of this…

I think I need another cup.

Also I can easily overlook the oily surface of this tea given there’s white chocolate pieces and let’s be honest, white chocolate’s pretty much oils…delicious oils.

TeaLady441

Yes! Delicious oils! That’s why I was tempted to take advantage of the 30% off and get some myself…

momo

Yeah my 30% off went to 40% off last Friday so it’s hard not to just buy everything up…I went back Monday for two more teas…got like 6 ounces overall and paid $12 between the discount and a Starbucks card reward. And there’s not enough white chocolate peppermint stuff out there.

momo

To be exact because it’s THAT AWESOME I got 4.2 oz of Dragonfruit Devotion and 2 oz of Cacao Mint Black for $12.18

TeaLady441

Wow. That’s really awesome! I should activate my Starbucks card… It’s been sitting dormant for about a year now, but I still buy drinks. Doh!

The Cacao Mint sounds interesting, but so far I’ve been happier with the herbals.

TeaLady441

Do you find that a lot of the teavana teas have sugar in them? Or is that just me?

momo

Definitely register it! Although if you can wait until after Christmas, do that…I don’t know the full details but they’ll be pushing for people to register the cards they got for Christmas so there might be some good incentive. And the 1 oz of tea at Teavana is good but it was never highlighted that you had to buy another ounce of it.

I know they sweeten everything in the store minus like the monkey picked oolong but a good majority of the teas have something in them that’s already naturally sweet like this one with the licorice or they add something that’s sweet like the white chocolate. The new ones that have come out lately I assume are the product of Starbucks and they’ve all been like that with sweeter ingredients.

TeaLady441

Well, I’m already registered – I just haven’t been accumulating points at all. :( So that might not work for me anyway…

And thanks for clarifying. I was wondering. I don’t mind a little bit of sugar, but I AM trying to drink tea as a substitute for binging on sugary foods. :P

momo

Ahh yeah I was having a problem where the one I’m using AND the one that inevitably got me a gold card was not drawing any kind of promotions. Last week I FINALLY got a $1 off food coupon but I never got an email. My other card that I registered to a different account would always get these coupons and probably still does despite the fact it hasn’t had a balance for years. It’s kind of irritating.

It’s probably not that much so you might be okay. I’ll definitely have to try this one without adding anything because it seems like it’d somewhat sweet, but just improved by a little sugar. I know I added maybe 3/4 tsp of rock sugar to that pumpkin spice brulee one and that really changed it, so I wonder if just like a little touch is enough for these two to be just right. Either way with how much you end up with in a teaspoon or two it’s a lot better than the cake pops I can’t stop eating.

Aimee Popovacki

this one is much better than the davids one.. there’s something off about the david’s one.. its kind of too pepperminty, not enough chocolate.. it doesn’t balance so well.

drank Pumpkin Spice Brulee by Teavana
1220 tasting notes

I had high hopes for this tea but a) it actually was .98 per 2 oz more than the tin said which made me really mad and b) it doesn’t taste nearly as good as its ingredients would lead you to believe.

SURPRISE.

Anyway I was drawn to it because it’s pumpkin and chocolate. I finally figured out how to have pumpkin chai at work (it requires adding espresso, but you don’t even notice! Also I just realized how expensive it is if you don’t get free drinks. $1.50 for the espresso and $.60 to add the pumpkin, jeez.) so maybe now I need to try chocolate and pumpkin something because this does not do the trick. I made chocolate pumpkin tiramisu for a potluck and THAT was what I was kind of hoping for here, just with more spices.

The second time I had it, I tried it sweetened which made it a lot more chai-like, but it’s REALLY missing the damn pumpkin, and the chocolate really doesn’t contribute any kind of creaminess so I don’t know what its purpose was.

Weak.

drank Pumpkin Creme Brulee by Butiki Teas
1220 tasting notes

Ok for WEEKS I have been meaning to write tasting notes but I barely drink much tea when at home. I am sooo tired of working omg I’ve got 30 hours this week and 36 next week! My only day off is Saturday…actually I had Thanksgiving off but working Friday morning ruined that so my family’s gonna come down for lunch on Thanksgiving and then we’ll eat at home Friday. So I figured they’re not coming early enough (or apparently my mom was how dare I make her have to wait for noon) why not take advantage of making 1.5 times my usual pay to stand there and do nothing.

So I have been drinking my pumpkin teas a bunch. This one is still tops in pumpkinland right now. I tried it sweetened with cream but I think I like it just with a little sugar the most. By itself its okay but it is creme brulee so it just needs that to really bring it up to real dessert status.

I’m washing all my dishes that have built up out of wanting to do nothing after work/school so maybe that will make me go drink tea. Also I’m cold. But I keep going and buying stuff at Teavana because my discount is 40% this week ughhhhh
