790 Tasting Notes

Hm. I am not as in love with this one as everyone else seems to be. When I slurped it, there was a scent of smoke though not the taste. I get a creamy feel overall, but this isn’t my kind of vanilla. It certainly smells strongly of vanilla and the taste is there, though not as strong as the scent. It’s a pleasant enough cup but it doesn’t send me over the moon. Thanks for sharing, Ost!

I adore North Winds, but I’m not a huge GO fan because its not my kind of vanilla either. Oh well.

Yes, I thought that the Dian hung in it overpowers, primarily why I dig it

drank Yi Fu Chun Black Tea by Yezi Tea

Don’t remember much about this as I had it at work and my attention wandered. I do remember caramely goodness and then as it cooled a very deep woodsy feeling with a teensy bit of smoke hiding out. Ost sent me this in a swap – thanks so much! I may not remember many specifics but I do remember that it was extremely tasty.

Not sure if this is the same tea as this listing shows. The tin I have says “pure Ceylon teas packed in Sri Lanka”. Nothing about Kenyan blends. At any rate, I bought this because the tin was awesome and it was on sale. :) This tasting note is for both English Afternoon and Tea Rations. I’m positive they are the same teas.

I wasn’t expecting much from the teabags and they mainly live up to expectations. They have a mild buttery scent but I suspect that is the bags. They are the paper bags without strings like Celestial Seasonings has. The tea is a basic tea bag tea – it’s tea flavored tea. Fannings of tea that steep super quickly and the flavor is unremarkable but not horrible. It does take cream very well and that takes it from an acceptable cup to quite nice but nothing I’d keep on hand.

S’okay. I bought for the tins. :)

drank Jasmine Pearl by Vital Tea Leaf

Now that I have this in my cupboard I can give it a proper review. The scent is unmistakably jasmine. The pearls are so lovely. The first steep (mine was longer than the package recommends) was deeply sweet and mildly jasmine. The second steep was more bitter, more floral and more jasmine. The sweetness vanished. But, I did steep for much longer than recommended for my first. :) But overall, this is a really good jasmine pearl.

I apologize – I no longer recall who shared this with me. Thanks, if it was you!

The tea is definitely noticeable though I don’t get any specific notes from it, like malt or anything. The cardamom is the strongest note here but strangely, from seeing the number of pods in this blend, the spicing as a whole is not terribly strong. It’s not bad, but there is an odd aftertaste to it that I’m not sure I care for enough to put this on my wishlist.

Made with 4 oz light cream and 4 oz water, 2 teaspoons chai & 1 tablespoon sugar. If I had more of this I’d try it with honey next time.

Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 2 tsp 8 OZ / 236 ML

drank Morning Sun by Mandala Tea

Having this cold today. I steeped up a tiny pot of it to use in a picture yesterday. But my acid reflux flare up had already had it’s fill of tea for the day and while I wanted the golden little coils in the photo I didn’t want to waste the tea. So I let it steep about 5 minutes all told and then put it in a cup in the fridge.

Cold it has a more pronounced hay flavor. Also more of the fruity notes come out. Tasty.

I don’t have any info on whether or not this is natural pineapple but my guess is not. Isn’t a big deal to me but might be to others. :)

The pineapple scent is extremely strong and it’s nice. The flavor is a strong pineapple with a vague background of lightly vegetal, anonymous green tea. It’s nice, but with a teensy bit of added sugar it becomes good, not just nice. :) I wouldn’t keep this on hand mainly because I have yet to really love a green tea of any kind so much that I’d reach for it over my blacks. I’m pretty sure my mom will really like her share of this, though.

I have 2 ounces of this so if anyone wants to try any, drop me a note. Happy to share. :)

I am not sure at all what the name of this tea is but it is from L’Angelica Istituto Erboristico. The best I can tell from using Translate is that it is an Italian company involved in healthy solutions for living. :)

JanieTeo sent this in the Christmas card swap. Her note on the package said “lavender, damiana and wild rose.” It smells heavenly. The taste is sweet, floral and fruity. I would guess this is a tisane. It is one that I would love to keep on hand if I ran across it somewhere. Very good!

Sounds delicious :

ThainofBuckland

Wow, that sounds lovely. I’m not the biggest fan of lavender, but I’m sure the other flavors balance it.

Nicole

It is really a very nice tisane. I am not a huge fan of lavender most times, but this did not seem to me to be very strongly lavender. I don’t know that I’ve had anything with damiana before. It has fruit that is supposed to be similar to figs and sometimes is compared to chamomile as their essential oils are similar. I don’t notice any fig notes, but could see the chamomile connection.
