1135 Tasting Notes

Day 2 of my cold..and having this tea again. Only difference is that I can’t taste it today :( goodbye sense of taste..I hope it comes back soon, like tomorrow haha. Only thing I can feel from this tea is a slight burning on my throat. I haven’t had this happen since I’ve started drinking tea I don’t think lol, I’ve had a bad stomach flu, but not a cold like this haha, #first.

Also, I am taking my friend out for drinks tonight and planned this big thing for him to have a bit of a pick up from his recent break up…and I planned it all before I got sick, he is looking forward to it, and it’s suppoesd to be like -40 C here tonight. Sigh. I don’t want to cancel…we will see what happens with this cold I guess. See previous notes on this tea!

I saw this on twitter today: I think it s a two pants day #CanadianWinter. Ha ha

Roswell Strange

Tre’s going to be in Regina next week visiting family so he was looking up the weather, and supposedly today’s weather in Regina today is “-314 C”. We’re pretty sure that’s an error ;) That, or Regina’s gonna get a hell of a lot smaller by the end of the day.

Dexter

I don’t think -314C is accurate, but it might as well be. I’ve seen forecasts today for Regina in the -50 to -60 C with windchill.

It’s just brutal here too. Forecast windchill -40 to -50 from now through Sunday…

Lala

The -314 was an error on the part of the weatherman, supposed to be -31. The big joke was it is going to be Pi cold. Ha ha.

Sil

Soooooo you’re all jealous of my super awesome 24 degree weather. ;)

Well as of today, I have my first cold of winter I think..ugh, I hate sneezing and sore throat :( so out comes my super ginger, brewed quite strong with some honey. I probably should have brought it to work, and probably should not have stopped taking my vitamins for a few days. Oh well, it was inevitable since the bf had it before he left for work Sunday. Gahhh. I hope this tea kicks it in the butt. See previous notes.

Courtney

This one is so awesome. I hope the cold passes quickly.

mrs.stenhouse12

It’s by far one of my favorite teas :D I sure hope this cold goes away fast, I feel the ginger burning my throat and hopefully all the cold germs!

I’m not sure if this tea will ever get old for me lol. It’s just a comforting, usual cup of tasty goodness. Not overly special, nothing that blows me away, but it’s reliable and always there, and a great caffeine free tea for morning or night. Quite enjoyable, I think I will always have a bit of this in my cupboard.

In unrelated news, ugh, I don’t have internet at home until Friday, that’s when they are coming to hook it up. And my poor phone is already over the max for data this month…some friends are unfortunately going through a bad breakup (long term couple ) so phone data got maxxed talking to them online, hopefully they work it out. So yeah, no logging of tea notes from home this week lol. Anyways, see previous notes on this tea.

Not related to tea

Oh my goodness, I had the busiest weekend ever with moving and cleaning out our apartment, but we are finally in our new place! Sleeping in the living room until we get our upgraded mattress on Thursday, a few boxes laying about, but we are in, and the cat is back with us! Ahh I love our place, my whole tea stash fits in 2 drawers!! That must mean I can buy more tea, right? :D

Anyways, this is the first tea I made in my new kitchen yesterday, it was robust and helped me get through the busy day. Now I will doze off at my desk all morning, so don’t mind me. I will be drinking Super Ginger sleepily lol. See previous notes on this tea!

Yay! I’m glad it went smoothly. :)

Anna

YES, that does mean you can buy more tea!

mrmopar

Fill it to the seams! No sense in wasting unused space.

OMGsrsly

Glad your move went well! :)

mrs.stenhouse12

Thanks everyone! Haha I still have about 4 orders from January at various friend’s houses from moving lol so when those come in I will take stock and see if I can justify a Verdant order :D

And the final sipdown of the day, I didn’t have a whole lot of tea today lol but this was my before bed cup of sweetness, possibly a bit too much caffeine, but I got lots of packing done at least haha. I will miss this black tea, really enjoyed this one from the Bestseller’s sampler. Until we meet again, Pancake Breakfast! See previous notes :)

Sipdown! I haven’t logged tea in a while haha I was in the mountains for the long weekend and now a super busy week ahead with final house items and moving and work! Exciting! Anyways I am trying to finish up some open teas that are harder to move before we move on Saturday, so I enjoyed a final cup of this one tonight. Delicious as always, I would definitely consider ordering this one again! See previous notes :)

And a sipdown! And I must go to sleep soon lol, bad choice of tea but it was calling to me haha, it’s also nearing a full moon here and I am like a werewolf – I stay up all night when it’s full haha. Anyways, this cup is supremely creamy and pie like tonight. I love it! Mmm I could definitely order more of this at some point. A decadent treat! Now I will try to sleep! See previous notes :)

I have been working my way through this bag mostly by making morning travel mugs for work. This tea is very inoffensive and pretty neutral, not too sweet, strong, spicy..it’s a nice bit of caffeine for work when I need to wake up, but it doesn’t make me jittery or provide too much yum that it distracts me like some other teas lol. And on top of that, the ginger and pu’erh combo is very good for my stomach, especially after lunch (as I am having this tea now). Only enough for one more cup, but it’s been a good run. This might make it back in the cupboard in the future due to how easy it is to drink. See previous notes.

So after my crazy busy day at work I was home briefly then off to sushi with some good friends..I had some genmaicha there and it was tasty, but I needed a favorite cuppa when I got home on behalf of it being my birthday haha. So I looked at my cupboard and almost had the Marshmallow Snowflake EG or my favorite Yu Lu Yan Chai, but those are rather caffeine heavy, and I already have been drinking green tea all evening.

So what better tea to have than this one? My FAVORITE rooibos, which it now looks like is available at Verdant for ordering (minus the linden flowers)! So excited! I am trying so so hard to hold off placing an order with Verdant….it’s so difficult. I can make it!

And yes, this is a lemony, perfect cup of goodness tonight. It’s thirst quenching and rich and warming all at the same time. And it makes me happy. Perfect tea for a good day :)

Profile

Bio

Hello all, I am an electrical engineer (read:NERD :D), who is a bit obsessed with tea! I discovered loose tea in 2011, DAVIDsTEA in 2012 and it took off from there. I really started drinking/enjoying tea because it was excellent to take to class in the morning and because I can’t handle coffee! (unless it’s a really good cappuccino or latte, or decent decaf haha)

I enjoy a variety of teas – current favorites being ripe and raw pu’erhs, chinese black teas and herbal/green rooibos blends. I also enjoy white, green, and oolong teas, although I tend to drink them more in the warmer months. I have also tried matcha and guayusa, but I don’t drink them too often as I am a bit sensitive to caffeine. As a result I don’t drink black teas as often as I used to, but in moderation I can still enjoy a wide variety of teas.

Oh, and I have a severe peanut allergy and try to avoid most other nuts, just to be safe. Limits my tea choices a bit, but that’s ok. However I have tried almonds and found out I can eat them, so I have been trying a few teas with them in them.
