Ahh I had this tea sometime back in the summer in a free sample, and FINALLY I bought some of it! Omnomnomnom…milky, creamy, buttery oolong! I lovee this as I did the first time I tried it. Delicious. I will have to resteep, did for about 3.5 mins. Haha, as I continue along on my oolong kick, it must be the weather! Sorry this note isn’t overly descriptive, I just want to gobble it down mwahaha.

drank Vanilla Orchid by DAVIDsTEA
1186 tasting notes

So I am in an oolong mood! Went and bought this and the Quangzhou milk oolong, thought I’d have this tonight for dessert!

The smell is dead on vanilla yogurt. Mmm so creamy and yum! I steeped for 4 mins, and the leaves smell so odd to me! Like, green oolong, but with vanilla in there, it seems weird to me, but in a good way!

Ah, now it has cooled almost too much lol, I was busy raging about an assignment that didn’t go well..anyways, this tea is calming me down. It is a perfect blend of a green oolong with vanilla! The first taste is definitely oolong, then in the middle this creamy, dreamy vanilla taste comes out! Like hot vanilla bean ice cream! It fades to a gentle oolongy aftertaste with just a hint of the vanilla, maybe that is where the orchid is? I’m not sure, I mostly get vanilla hehe.

I might try steeping this a bit shorter next time though, just to get a bit of a lighter flavor, the green oolong taste is almost a bit at odds with the vanilla at times it seems (could also be that I let it cool down too much/used too hot of water haha). Overall, pretty good, very interesting if you ask me! I need a few more cups to give it my overall rating :) for now, it’s pretty good.

Oh, I am so getting me some of that!

mrs.stenhouse12

It’s pretty good, my first flavored oolong I believe too! A good start, such a melding of flavors, mmm definitely tastes like I had dessert (no calories though yay!)

Backlogged from last night; this tea is soo much goodness! Again from Verdant! Think I did first steeping 10 secs, and increase by 5 each time, but I can’t quite recall :P oh, and prettty sure I rinsed it..anyways, I did a few steepings, first were so buttery and creamy, almost like a milk oolong to me? So good! The later steepings were more floral, a delicious, sweet flower. Also, quite a bit of honey present, but not as much as the Mi Lan Xiang I tried the night before. Overall, delicious!! May have to put both of the oolongs in my yixing pot, as it may be too tough to just pick one!

Remembrance day here in Canada, lest we forget. Had a relaxing morning watching the ceremony on TV, then went shopping with the boy in the afternoon. And now making guacamole and having this tea.

This tea!! Oh my goodness!! I could have sworn there is honey in my cup :D mmm i havent had an oolong like this before! So sweet yet juicy too, a perfect mixture. I feel warm all over :) i steeped the bfs for 30 s, and my cup for 35, after a rinse. Tasted his, more oolong with a light hint of honey, mine is full of it! A creaminess too, and a warming spice. Can’t wait to see what later steeps hold! My cup is almost gone already! Definitely a prime candidate for my incoming yixing pot :)

I’m enjoying mine right now :D well once it cools down a little :D I don’t go to the ceremony because all the people crammed into the gym makes me feel ill. I did do a moment of silence on my own though :D I always support the Canadian Armed Forces (my parents are in the forces) even if they weren’t though I always think about the people gave us the freedom we now have (and sometimes take for granted)

mrs.stenhouse12

Mmm i’m on my second cup so good! I don’t blame you about the crowds, i usually just watch what’s going on in Ottawa and have my moment of silence at 11, it truly is amazing what they sacrificed for freedom! And what the forces continue to do for the country, they have all my respect :) i hope you enjoy your tea as well! Verdant is unbelievable at finding delicious teas!

I’ll post the poem I wrote back in high school on here tomorrow, as I have the day off to dig it out and type it up :D it won 3rd place from the local Legion (I forget which one)

mrs.stenhouse12

Nice!! I look forward to reading it :)

Brewed this properly today, short steep time (10 seconds for first instead of a minute, adding about 5 seconds each infusion) and i love it! Have had 2 cups, the boyfriend had 2, and the leaves are still going strong! First steeps were very light and buttery, and later ones flavorful greens with butter! So savory, reminds me of some type of soup almost! Time for another cup pretty soon, I just can’t get enough. I really want to try the autumn harvest for this one as well! My verdant addiction continues :)

Having what could possibly be one of my favorite white teas, if not my favorite tea in general. Soothing and delicious, mellow, bringing a sense of peace to me on this cold, snowy night. See previous notes for details.

I’d join you in drinking this tea but I don’t like to waste good tea on a bad mood. I’m blue. Good day for puer. Sounds good for another day though and the pot, how wonderful!

mrs.stenhouse12

I hope you feel better soon Bonnie! At least you have puer, which is also excellent :) and I’m super excited about the pot! I got one from Verdant somehow, good timing I guess, I am just itching for it to arrive! Will have to wait quite a while when it does ship, being in Canada..it will be a long few weeks!

Bonnie

Wow lucky you! Those are collectors items!

mrs.stenhouse12

Yes indeed! It will receive much love and care :)

Drinking this as I work away at homework. Still really enjoying this tea. I let it get very cold, however, and I do prefer it hot, to me it tastes a bit more dry/a bit more woodsy when it is cooler? Could be that it’s ridiculously dry in the apartment. Ugh, how I hate winter. Anyways, I will probably have to pick up a bit more of this tea once I’m out. Very nice :)

Bio

Hello all, I am an electrical engineer (read:NERD :D), who is a bit obsessed with tea! I discovered loose tea in 2011, DAVIDsTEA in 2012 and it took off from there. I really started drinking/enjoying tea because it was excellent to take to class in the morning and because I can’t handle coffee! (unless it’s a really good cappuccino or latte, or decent decaf haha)

I enjoy a variety of teas – current favorites being ripe and raw pu’erhs, chinese black teas and herbal/green rooibos blends. I also enjoy white, green, and oolong teas, although I tend to drink them more in the warmer months. I have also tried matcha and guayusa, but I don’t drink them too often as I am a bit sensitive to caffeine. As a result I don’t drink black teas as often as I used to, but in moderation I can still enjoy a wide variety of teas.

Oh, and I have a severe peanut allergy and try to avoid most other nuts, just to be safe. Limits my tea choices a bit, but that’s ok. However I have tried almonds and found out I can eat them, so I have been trying a few teas with them in them.

mrs.stenhouse12’s rating system
