38 Tasting Notes
When I first smelled this tea, I thought it smelled very medicinal. It might be a combination of the floral notes and all of the fruit notes. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it.
After steeping, I still thought it smelled kind of medicinal.
I thought the berry flavor was going to be overpowering, and maybe it does take away from the taste of the tea slightly. When I take a sip, I definitely taste fruit and floral notes.
As I am writing this, I keep adjusting the rating slider. I am not sure how I feel about it. I like it, but I feel like I have had much better fruity black teas.
Preparation
Whenever I make tea for a group of people and ask others which tea they would like to try, they always seemed very surprised when they smell this tea. It smells wonderful, and tastes great.
When I first had this tea, I had been drinking mostly green teas at that time, and thought this was a pleasant change.
When I first took a sip, my tea was still very hot, and I thought it tasted kind of weak. I had a light taste of chocolate combined with the black tea and vanilla. I got just a hint of coconut and cinnamon. As the tea cooled, I think I was able to taste the subtleties in the coconut and cinnamon better. Overall, I thought everything blending very well together.
I made a pot of this for everyone at the office towards the end of the day, and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
Preparation
I am relatively new to the tea world, so I have been trying as many teas as possible just so I can get a better idea of what is out there and what I like. This tea came in the Award Winning Sampler pack from Art of Tea.
When I first opened the package and smelled it, it had a very strong, yet not overwhelming, mint aroma. It also had a bit of a floral note from the roses. Like I said above, I am new to tea, and I have not had many mint+floral teas. I was really skeptical when I made my first cup.
I boiled a pot of water on the stove (the tea is marked for 175-185F, I know), and steeped it for 3 minutes.
I let the tea cool a little bit before I took my first sip, and I was pleasantly surprised. It had a very light mint flavor with a hint of rose. This combination was delicious, and neither the mint nor the rose was overpowering. The taste and smell made me feel very relaxed.
I will definitely be purchasing more of this tea.
