Day 3 Dammann Freres Advent Calendar
Day 1 was a black tea, Day 2 was a green tea. Day 3 is an herbal. Each day I’ve gotten to try a different sort of tea than I’ve ever had before. This is no exception. I really enjoy a cup of peppermint tea at the end of a day, especially if I over ate and my tummy is unhappy, so I was eager to try this one. Since it was herbal and I was away from the apartment from 6:30 am until 9:00 pm I decided to enjoy this one before bed. And I do enjoy it. Not a keeper, but this would be great to have on hand for the unhappy tummy moments.
My high school French is pretty sketchy, but I knew Menthe was mint. I didn’t recognize Reglisse. I had to look it up. Licorice. Black licorice. The DF website says this is ment with licorice as a secondary flavor. But the flavor of the tea is for me predominantly black licorice, with mint being very much in the background. If you like black licorice, like those black licorice Nibs candies, you will probably love this tea. I quite like it. I don’t see myself ordering 100 grams anytime soon. but a small amount of this tea may be on the Dammann Freres order I plan to make early next year. We’ll see which other teas I find to love.
Preparation
This was my Sip While Hanging Ornaments On The Tree tea this evening. This is over a year old, but I still love it. Mildly sweet, mildly minty, mildly creamy goodness. This is probably my favorite Christmas tea, although there are a few others that are very close. Just a nice black tea with creamy peppermint flavoring. And, of course, I like the mini candy canes in the leaf.
Christmas is coming. I’m starting to get in the mood~!
Day 2 of my Dammann Freres Advent Calendar
It’s a good thing I didn’t look at the ingredient list before I made this cup. I don’’t care for green tea in general because I don’t like that grassy flavor. And I greatly dislike floral teas. To my mind, lavender, rose, bergamot, jasmine, etc should be reserved for perfumes.
So it is probably no surprise that I didn’t like this one. Not because there was anything wrong with the tea. If floral green teas are your thing, then I heartily recommend this one. I am not rating it because I don’t feel it is fair to rate a tea low simply because I don’t like the ingredients. I am very glad I had a chance to try it, but I don’t see myself ever including this in an order.
Day #1 of my Dammann Freres Advent Calendar.
This was different. I’ve never had a tea quite like this before. My sense of smell is weak, so I might not be really tasting this properly. The listed flavors are grape, buckwheat, pecan.
The little silky sachet bag was so easy to use and cute. The teas was not too sweet. It was not sour or bitter. The flavor had hints of grape-y tartness which was fine. There was also a cereal-like flavor. It didn’t care for that at first. It grew on me. I got pulled away and when I came back the tea was almost cold. I liked it better that way.
I give this a cautious recommendation. I didn’t hate it. I certainly didn’t love it. But if I was with a friend and she served this I could drink it. Looking forward to Day 2!
Preparation
This week has been rough. Next week will be worse. So I decided it was time to splurge on an old favorite tea.
I am looking forward to my Damann Freres advent calendar. I’ve had only a couple of their teas, and one I did’t especially enjoy. But I’ve done the David’s 24 days of tea a couple of years now, and it seems like most of the teas are the same so I thought it was time to try something else. Just a few days to go!
Sorry it’s been a tough week, with only the prospect of tougher ahead. Wishing you some quiet moments and good tea!
Sip Down!
Oh my gosh! I was sorting through my teas to put them in their new drawer home, trying to select the pouches that had one pot’s worth or less in them so I could easily access them and sip them down, when I found THIS ONE! I thought it was completely gone. I mean, gone forever. Oh, smoky spicy tea, how I love you. You were a little weak, since there wasn’t quite enough left of you to make a strong cup, but you were still warming and tasty. You shall be missed.
It’s cold today!! Not record breaking, but it was 13F when I got up and it never got much warmer. In fact, with the wind chill it was -12 in the afternoon. And it snowed and blowed. Just nasty weather all around. I stayed in and made progress on unpacking the sewing room. Now after hours of labor I am relaxing with a cup of tea. This one hits the spot. Mild, smooth, warm and comforting. The perfect before bed cuppa.
At church on Wednesday nights we have various beverages set out. Water, lemonade, coffee and tea. I got the woman in charge of the kitchen hooked on quality loose leaf tea, so now she always makes two pots. This tea was one of the offerings last wednesday.
I forgot how much I enjoy this. I miss Tippy’s Tea! Did they close up shop? As I recall I super enjoyed their Minted Monkey.
