drank Shamrock Tea by 52teas

Been drinking this one all day. With the spearmint and vanilla combination, it still tastes like an old fashioned New Orleans spearmint snowball. And I can vouch for this taste comparison as I had a spearmint snowball yesterday. I am thinking that the vanilla magically takes the bite off of the spearmint and brings out the mint’s sweetness. Still one of the best mint teas .

drank Marco Polo by Mariage Frères
328 tasting notes

A big THANK YOU to RICKY for sending this tea sample to me. I was really suprised as I wasn’t expecting him to send me any more teas. I was even more thrilled when I opened the package and it was sample of Marco Polo, which I have been wanting to try forever.

Upon sampling this tea and its yummy strawberry goodness, it erased any yucky memories of the overly salty crawfish that I had earlier at dinner. To me, this is a guiless, childish tea- reminding me of Frankenberry cereal or jujubees or jolly ranchers….

Unlike most other French blends I have sampled, this one is not some frilly perfumy, hot-mess, but a solid, true, and not really sophisticated strawberry flavor.

“this one is not some frilly perfumy, hot-mess” LOL!

drank Kashmiri Chai by Golden Moon Tea
328 tasting notes

This one is a bust. Glad that I did not purchase a whole tin- and started with the sample first. Phew! This has been a popular tea on this website, but, in my opinion, the cinnamon flavor overpowered the typical chai medley of flavors.

Liberteas’ Masterpiece Chai is a MUCH better version of a chai and still has some of the mild qualities of the Golden Moon’s version…

That’s to bad, I enjoyed this one. Try it on the stovetop with milk and sugar. Just a thought. May have better luck. :-)

JonTea

That often happens with Chai. They over do it with the spices ( usually cinnemony type) and it just overpowers the tea :(

drank Masterpiece Chai by Liber Teas

Thank you, thank you Liberteas for this generous sample! This is a near perfect chai, no one spice or flavor predominates, no fancy milk steeping/boiling required. Although flavorful, it is a perfect chai for any novices who may be hesitant to sample the exotic blend of spices. I have had this three times since the sample arrived two days ago!

For comparisons- this one blows Golden Moon’s Kashmiri Chai out of the water. Liberteas’ is similar to Golden Moon is that it is mild but Liberteas’ version has more well-rounded flavors typical of a chai. To compare w/Samovar’s chai, this one is not as strong but certainly not any less good. Especially for the summer, Samovar’s almost seems to “heavy” right now….

LiberTEAS

Thank you Lori, I am so pleased to read that you’ve enjoyed this tea. This one is one of which I am extremely proud, because I set out to do exactly what I wanted with it. I am glad to know you like it!

drank Sweet Caramel O Mine by Liber Teas
328 tasting notes

First, I better not get too attached …Liberteas sent me a sample and I am thinking this is a limited edition since she is closing up the business.

This tea has a strong, natural caramel flavor. And I am going to miss this tea. It tasted like an old-fashioned Brach’s caramel square in the plastic wrapper….

I haven’t had too many caramel teas- just a sample from Upton’s (which I remember enjoying but can’t recall the taste) and a tin of Adagio’s caramel creme (which tasted artificial to me)…Oh well, the search continues…I have high hopes for Kusmi’s caramel tea…

LiberTEAS

Lori: I do have a plentiful supply of this particular tea, since I just reblended it. :)

drank Vanilla Mint by Golden Moon Tea
328 tasting notes

I tried this one iced- cold brew method using the Bodum pitcher from Golden Moon. Seriously, refreshing. The vanilla provides a smoothness, sweetness and tempers the mint. I am getting addicted to my Bodum iced tea pitcher. Just throw some leaves in water and voila, the next morning, cold iced tea….

JonTea

Great idea :D

Rabs

I’m also getting icredibly addicted to the cold brew method — so easy and so yummy!

Second nite in a row I am having this tea- I am taking a page from Cofftea’s book…anyway w/this chocolate creamer, this is a nice dessert (but way spicy from the cayenne)…

Cofftea

This is a refreshing for the summer. I brewed it over nite in the fridge using the cold brewing method and my Bodum iced tea pitcher (which is a great size- not too big and not too small). This tasted flowery , sweet like honey, and a perfect subtle mint flavor…highly recommended…..

drank Peppermint Yerba Mate by Samovar
328 tasting notes

Now this is a great yerba mate blend for summer (and much better than that vile licorice-mate blend I had yesterday)…The grassy flavor of the mate dulls the sharpness of the peppermint and the peppermint dulls the grassy flavor of the mate. This is heaven and full of caffeine…perfect chilled

Bio

Just a few months ago the only tea I drank was hot lipton tea at work, an occasional mint tea, and sweet iced tea.. Then my daughter got me some loose leaf teas for Christmas and then, my tea addiction began…..

And what better way to get lots of dessert flavors w/o the calories?

I prefer my tea with a tinge of sugar. Is that cheating? But to me , the combination of sugar and tea is like salt and cooking- both bring out the natural flavors.

My tea drinking has evolved into a set routine: a breakfast blend in the AM, some flavored blacks during the day, late afternoon or evening flavored green/white, herbal (usually spicy, chai inspired) at night.

Not into unflavored greens/whites yet. Just started appreciating unflavored blacks and am thinking that smoky teas may become my favorite…
When I am not drinking tea, I am working as an engineer, reading, watching some of the better TV shows (like Damages and Breaking Bad), practicing my yoga, cooking, gardening, and spoiling my two miniature poodles (Coco and Timmy)…
