328 Tasting Notes
Whoa! This has a strong grape/raisin flavor. As it cools, and if I close my eyes, I can sort of taste raisin toast. Honestly, no raisin toast tastes as raisin-y as this tea. Does this mean I don’t like it? No. I had 2 cups last nite and 2 cups this AM. So, would rank this as a winner…..
A failed iced tea experiment: this tea does not go well at all w lemon…. Live and learn…
I had Golden Monkey by Harney. Didn’t like it at first. Tried it with sugar, okay. Tried it with honey – better. Tried it plain – best! I can see how lemon might not go well since it has a strong honey aroma.
I have lots of mint around my yard and some of it is looking stringy. My husband is begging me to get rid of it soo, mint iced tea is in order…. So, after experimenting, mountain malt turns out to be an excellent pair for the mint. The mountain malt, a bold and strong assam, is a perfect counter-point to the medicinal flavor of the fresh mint.
We have tried to grow peppermint from seed unsuccessfully an embarrassing number of summers in a row, so when I found a healthy pre-potted plant at a farmer’s market yesterday, I brought her home and named her Patty. Hoping she’ll yield lots of good tea flavoring soon!
Looking at the other notes,,,,I am the only one so far that likes this one…..LOL! This one is slightly lemony but not overly so…W/the mate, an extra caffeine boost. So what is not to like? Also this is perfect to drink after an hour of yoga…
Backlogging from my trip. This one was another winner in the iced tea category for me. The coconut flavor is pronounced, sharp, and not artifical tasting at all; this tea’s flavor is reminiscent of those unsweetended coconut water drinks sold at Whole Foods. I would have to say this is my favorite Golden Moon tea by far.
Had this one again this morning without milk. Such a smooth drink. I agree with the other reviewer that this one has cocoa undertones. So, to compare to Dawn, this one has less cocoa but it is more full-bodied for a first cup in the morning. For the summer, a brisk assam is too strong, soo, this is becoming my “go-to” breakfast tea.
I have a sample of the one from Harney and Sons that I haven’t tried yet. I am hoping it’s a winner….
