I have actually found that I really like this tea- for a flavored black that is (not its fault). There’s just something about the raisin flavoring that works with the black, but it took a while for it to grow on me. I really feel as though I’ve crumbled cinnamon raisin toast into my cup, but in a good way. I didn’t expect to like this more as I kept drinking it, no sir. It’s a tasty afternoon cup with a splash of almond milk.

drank PBJ Rooibos by 52teas

This is SUCH a good idea for a tea blend that I think it needs to be redone. Because my bag is essentially just a plain rooibos tea. Even looking in the bag all I see is plain rooibos. When I sniff it I don’t really get anything but rooibos. And when I brew it there’s nothing else there. I LIKE plain rooibos, but as I’m fond of saying- I can buy it plain when that’s what I want. Totally bummed out that I didn’t get a peanut buttery taste out of this.

That is so sad. :( No PB chips?

Lisbet

I found one in the bag, but it didn’t do anything for the cup it was in. I’m not sure the PB chips ever make that much of a difference for me.

This is a pretty weird one- sniffing the dry tea in packet I’d have not known how to identify it if it weren’t for the label. I admired the pineapple pieces in the mix, although I’m not sure why- I hate pineapple, supposedly. When I brewed this, my first impression was that it reminded me of the raisin toast 52teas blend, which isn’t a bad thing. The cherry tones in this just really resembled the raisins in the other. The second brew definitely had a bit of a kind of pineapplely fruitiness to it, unless it was just wishful thinking on my part. I do like this tea, but I’d never on my own identify what it was supposed to be. I wish the cherry came out more.

It’s funny that you say it’s like the raisin toast. I think they both taste like Pez!

Lisbet

Ha, whatever the taste is in there (I can totally see pez), they do taste really similar!

drank Gingerbread Rooibos by 52teas

I adore rooibos and adore gingerbread. So this blend kinda lept out at me, despite it being so humid in Houston right now that I feel like I’m in a sauna every time I step outside- I keep sticking to things. This one doesn’t taste like ginger tea- which is what every other gingerbread blend I’ve ever tried ends up as. It really does taste like gingerBREAD. However, it’s fairly subtle without any sweetener or cream, albeit tasty, and it had actual chunks of gingersnap in it. I definitely wouldn’t compare this one to a chai, which is what I’d been expecting, and I don’t taste the rooibos particularly strongly either. I think I like it, but I’ll definitely be updating my evaluation as I go through the bag. Not sure the gingersnap pieces actually contribute any flavor when left to dissolve with the tea leaves, but they were a nice visual touch.

drank Kava Stress Relief by Yogi Tea

I really hate the taste of this stuff, but it works. When I am feeling ‘above and beyond’ stressed out, I turn to this tea and it takes me out of my tense headspace. Unfortunately, it just has that terrible licorice-sarsaparilla flavor that makes me think ‘…if it wasn’t effective…’ – but on the upside, it takes me out of my head, as I shmeck and make faces. Keep this around for when you really need to unclench.

drank Peach DeTox by Yogi Tea

This is a good and relaxing blend. I could drink it all day, I really could. I like the combination of spice and fruit in here, although as I said, it’s got quite a spicy pepper-ginger kick to it. I feel like it even calms me a bit, which is much appreciated. I don’t know that I actually drink it often enough to gain the benefits it promises, but even a bit here and there is a good start, right?

A great masala chai! Even with the caffeine of the black tea, I’ll drink it. I may not re-buy, as I prefer to stick to decaf chais, but I’m really enjoying my little sample packet. I didn’t make it in an authentic way by any stretch, as time was of the essence (I’m trying to write 3 massive papers here!), but I did add a little milk to the tea after it had steeped, and it was really good. It actually enabled me to power through the last part of one of my papers without too much pain, but now that it’s gone so quickly I’m wanting more.

This is a pretty odd tisane… it kind of reminds me of that “orange drink” we used to get at field day during elementary school. But it has this weird herbal backdrop to it. The first time I tried it I didn’t add sweetener, but after re-reading the sample packet I noted that it advised a little sugar as an addition. I tried it and now I’m in the land of artificial orange flavored water. I’m not going to pour out the cup of tea, but I keep shmecking after each sip- and not in a good way. Oh fruit tisanes, you can go so wrong…orange in particular.

Enh? Still not really digging on this one… the sweetness doesn’t stand a chance in the face of the black tea’s bitterness. I may try mixing it in a little bit with something else – a tisane perhaps. Lightly berry black tea is all I get. I wish the cream stood out more.

drank Peanut Butter Chai by 52teas

Having trouble tasting the PB again, this time with a hint of vanilla almond milk and a hint of sugar added. A very nice chai, but I want that PB taste to really pop out. I mean, my mouth waters every time I see the bag in my cabinet, and then it’s a bit of a let down. A bit.
