I wasn’t sure what Canadian Breakfast tea would be, so I picked this up at a local coffee shop. It’s good! Strong! Would love some (almond or soy) milk and sugar!

Weirdly, I picked up raisin—or something like it—in this cup. It doesn’t appear that others have had that sensation, but it was really noticeable to me. Also, much better piping hot than after sitting out for a little while.

Solid cup of black tea. I expect a bit more than “solid” from Samovar, so I think I’ll stick to my regular sources for breakfast blends, but it’s a quality cup.

Excellent cup of green tea! I had this yesterday, so at this point I can’t even pinpoint why I liked it so much, but it’s a green I’d be happy to return to.

I’m wondering if this blend has changed over the past few years based on reviews. For me: it was an unusually nice cup of camomile. I don’t normally love that herbal, but the other herbs in this balanced it well. It was also really pretty steeping: several flowers that expanded to fill the teabag.

Stronger than I expected, and a robust breakfast tea. After this one, I’m going to need something green or decaf.

I also feel like this must have more caffeine in it than regular breakfast tea. That, or it’s having more of an effect on me. I almost feel like I had a small cup of coffee.

If you’re into peppermint, this is a really good cup of tea. The peppermint is some of the better I’ve tasted, and was something I could imagine drinking late into the evening.

I expected more of a green tea and less of a spearmint one, but even so it was a good cup.

Bio

I’ve been into tea, at some level, since college with a first tin of loose tea brought back by my parents from Oxford. My love of tea increased with a visit to Boston and a chance cup at Tealuxe. Since then I’ve only gotten more interested in tea and have developed more of an appreciation for it.

100: a perfect cuppa. these are the teas I’ll keep in my cupboard and tend to be one per type of tea.

90-99: will definitely get more of this tea

80-89: likely to get more and perhaps it will become a favorite with time

70-79: very good, depending on my mood or the season

60-69: wouldn’t actively try to get this tea, but also wouldn’t avoid it in a tea shop or restaurant

50-59: run-of-the-mill tea for me

40-49: decent, would hit the spot in some moods, but probably wouldn’t purchase it for my cupboard

30-39: okay, will try again, maybe

20-29: meh. I’d try this tea again if no other were available

10-19: drinkable, but a forced cup

0-9: didn’t even finish the cup
