A very mild black tea, so mild that I almost thought it was rooibos :P For this reason it’s probably good for the evening. The sweetness of vanilla was spot-on and reminded me of sweet pies. Not sure how it was Scandinavian-inspired but it surely would be nice to have this tea in a warm hut while watching the aurora borealis dance ;)

I am happy to be back to the Steepster community! As I mentioned in my newly updated bio, I am now practising mindfulness as a way of living. I need to practise mindful meditation every day and I decide to meditate with tea :) My tea log here is going to my mindfulness journal. If you see me update often, that means I am practising regularly!

Ok back to business – tea! I have just realized that I had tried this tea some years ago at a patisserie. At that time I could taste rose in the tea but this time I can’t! Perhaps because my tea bag happens to contain few petals. This is a fresh, light green tea with the flavour of berries. Imagine having a raspberry mousse cake with a cup of green tea – and getting it all in a single cup. I love the berry flavour, it is artificial but does not smell or taste artificial. :P

Green tea served at the optimal temperature (80 degree Celsius – not too hot so immediately drinkable) is my favourite beverage in a cool morning. :D

I give this tea a relatively low rating but I must emphasize that this is a nice tea itself. It smells and tastes of sweet peach, not sure whether it is attributable to the flavouring (or the flowers? I am not much of a botanist). It has a delicate floral note too, whereas the tea flavour is not so prominent. The problem is that it is being marketed as an Earl Grey, which I think is a big mistake. It tastes nothing like Earl Grey because the classic ingredient, bergamot, is missing here. I can imagine many Earl Grey lovers being sorely disappointed after tasting a sip – as in my own case!! :(

A truly beautiful blend! Didn’t have any expectation in this tea – I was thinking that it was just an average tea sold in the name of the world famous hotel chain. How wrong I was!! The fresh tea leaves gave an elegant and delightful fragrance when brewed. This was a high quality tea blend that had the floral sweetness which reminded me of Darjeeling, and also the robust flavour of Assam… in other words, best of both worlds!

I rarely rate plain tea so highly but this tea is just different. I really love its well-rounded taste and I feel sad that I don’t have any more of this in my cupboard…

Smells really sweet and tropical with fragrant pineapple and coconut!! I can almost see myself sipping Pina Colada on a beach. But when brewed I can barely taste the sweet fruits (the coconut scent is still there, though) in the liquor. There is mainly tartness from hibiscus and apple… which I must say is a bit disappointing….

This was a lovely tea! When I tasted this tea it had passed the expiry date for more than a year. Yet, its freshness was not affected, thanks to the beautiful, air-tight tea tin!

There’s only black tea on the ingredient list but I strongly suspected that flavouring had been added because it tasted of creamy chocolate! Smelled really great but didn’t taste too sweet. It would probably be perfect with milk :)

It isn’t as horrible as most of the other reviewers have suggested (the packaging of the tea bag I used was rather different from that in the pic, but there’s apparently no difference in the name, so I suppose we are talking about the same tea). Yes, the bergamot flavour may not be the best one in my life and it’s kinda like bergamot + a bit of lemon, but it tastes okay. The tea base is on the earthy side and I prefer a slightly more floral and sweeter base. But as an everyday tea, this is good enough!

Everyone seems to love this tea but I didn’t really find it impressive… perhaps it was because I was having the bagged version instead of the loose leaves. I was actually a bit shocked to see that they use almost dust-grade leaves for the tea bag… so the tea was a pretty strong brew after 3 minutes. Perhaps too strong for my liking I should say! The bergamot flavour was ok though.

Lupicia’s sencha never disappoints. This has the green, grassy flavour of matcha but also the characteristic seaweed taste of sencha. I prefer a sencha with “purer” flavours but this is pretty enjoyable too.

A devilish girl who lives up to the post-80s youth stereotype – hedonistic, frivolous and rebellious – except I love traditional afternoon tea rather than a quick caffeine fix at Starbucks.

I make a living off others’ criminal activities. It’s a busy job and I really wish I could retire, so I can become a full-time afternoon tea connoisseur instead. :j

I love any tea that has nice scent, great flavour and lovely packaging. My current top favourite brands are Mariage Freres, T2, and THE O DOR. ;)

I am now practising mindfulness as a way of living. I decide to use tea tasting as a means to meditate in my daily life. My tasting notes here will therefore be my meditation notes :)
