1473 Tasting Notes
I am a huge fan of genmaicha and a huge fan of strawberry, so I was all over this. The dry leaf smells like strawberry goodness, but as it steeped, the roasty toastyness of the rice came to the forefront. Yuuuuum.
Hot, the genmaicha is at the forefront, with a lingering taste of strawberry that is just wonderful. I suspect that cold, those flavors will reverse, but I gotta wait for my cup to cool. My life is a hard one. XD.
several hours later
I was wrong! Even cold, the roastyness is at the forefront, but it is delicious and refreshing. This is a tea I absolutely need in my cupboard.
This is one of the teas I’ve been most looking forward to. Rum? Yes. Coconut? Yes. Strawberry? Oh hell yes. So hopefully this lives up to expectations!
And oh man it does. The black tea is a little rough, a little bitter, but the flavors more than make up for it. I taste all three advertised flavors, but the strawberry was the weakest. Still, it’s a tasty tea. I’m just not sure it’s unique enough to stock up on. It kinda reminds me of a version of Monk’s Blend.
Oh man this is good. So good. I used my whole sample in my steeper to make two large iced teas. Rhubarb and raspberries and fruity juicy goodness. Rooibos can overwhelm coldbrews or iced tea, but it doesn’t here, it works well with the berries. It’s so good, I need more. And it gives me an excuse to order an elephant tin >.>
Preparation
2nd verse, same as the first! The second steep is just as good at the first, and the post-sip is even better. It kinda tastes like sour water melon slices mixed with sour grapefruit slices (which I adore) without the overwhelming sweetness/citric acid bite of the candies. The oolong shines through a bit more, but the watermelon isn’t lost, especially in the iced version.
Full disclosure: I live for watermelon. I’m the only one in the house who eats it and it makes my stomach hurt but I still buy about a dozen every summer. I love it. I wanted Lucious Watermelon from DavidsTea to be my watermelon tea, but it just doesn’t measure up.
This tea does. It does taste a little artificial, but I don’t care. Sweet watermelon and fresh oolong, this is summer in a mug for me. I’m trying it both iced and hot and both are delicious, but I prefer iced.
Preparation
Our first tea from TeaTaxi! My wife and I split a sample package and it is a tasty tea! It does taste a bit like carrot cake and if you enjoy rooibos, this is a wonderful blend. Nice and cinnimony, leaves me craving cream cheese icing XD.
It is all your fault! But after seeing the Max elephant mug, I couldn’t resist! We are incredibly excited to try our 22 samples and place another order and omg the packaging is precious!
After finding a hunk of boiled egg white in my kettle (from my wife making hard boiled eggs last night and yes, I found this after my two cups of tea this morning), I scrubbed out my kettle and made two cups of my favorite teas to soothe the heebie jeebies. I make my hot teas two mugs at a time because I drink my tea lukewarm like a weirdo XD.
Anyway, this tea is good. Consistently delicious, never had a bad cuppa. The scent alone is cheering me up.
Please excuse any lack of cohesion, I’m so exhausted I’m dizzy >.<
Still no bed. Nearly a full week of sleeping on a cheap egg carton mattress on the floor. No brains for review. Chai makes less of a zombie. Not enough.
grrr…
argh…
Jeepers. You sound like me a fortnight ago. Kept falling asleep in my studio on the floor with a box as a pillow :)
Ikea to the rescue & now I’ve got a sofa’bed’
They only introduced samples AFTER I placed my first order…which is probably the best for my wallet since there are so many teas I would have grabbed. This is definitely one of them. Hopefully it shows up in one of the monthly tea packages.
We absolutely placed an order for 20 samples and the Max elephant mug. XD.
