drank Green Tea with Citrus by Lipton
1719 tasting notes

I know I can’t even pronounce most of what is listed in the ingredients. I know this doesn’t taste much like tea. I know it is over sweetened. I know it is more soft drink than tea. I know there is no real citrus in it. I just can’t help myself. Dog gone it I like this stuff and I am not ashamed to admit it. It is cold and refreshing and especially handy when I am too lazy to accomplish more than twisting the cap off the bottle. Tea is listed as an ingredient, so I can almost convince myself this is better for me than the Dr. Pepper I almost grabbed.

You had me up until “It’s more soft drink than tea”, don’t agree. I used to love this… it’s amazing how your tastes change toward one thing when you taste something better.

K S

The tea is a little hard to pick out here is why I made the comment, but then I love soft drinks.

Since you posted a comment to the thread, “How can I post …” I thought I would check out your tealog. I like your style of writing. Many of your descriptions make me laugh, and make total sense. :)

drank Christmas Morning by Stash Tea
1719 tasting notes

This was given to me at work in bag form. I normally shy away from Stash black teas. I generally find them too weak. This was not even close to what I expected. I thought it would mint or something. When I read the label it started sounding interesting, Ceylon, Assam, Keenum, then I read Jasmine and I flinched. I don’t like Jasmine tea, well until now. It adds a slight pleasant aroma but is so subtle in the sipping that I found myself really liking it. The blend of black teas comes alive with a little sweetener. Really impressed with this one. My second Keemun blend and I am a fan.

drank Pumpkin Spice Chai by Twinings
1719 tasting notes

My son brewed a cup for me. He didn’t really prepare this correctly. He used the microwave, which I am opposed to using for tea. The water was not boiling. I added a splash of milk and some artificial sweetner. I am certain this would be better under more controlled preparation. Even so, this was quite tasty. The spices were balanced and pleasant. I only want a pumpkin tea a couple times a year. I am glad my son sprung this one on me.

Cofftea

It does need to be boiling, but microwaved water works w/ this nicely even… a quick and easy tea. Ok well not really quick since I steep it for 8-9 min lol.

drank Earl Grey (loose leaf) by Twinings
1719 tasting notes

The reviews here seem to be all over the place on this one. So here goes another. I haven’t had Twinings Earl Grey in a couple years. When they reformulated I found the bergamot in the bag form to be way too bright. Tried it today in loose leaf. It was a freshly opened tin with better than a year before expiration. Surprised me there was not much aroma to the dry leaf or the brew. Where is that intoxicating bergamot aroma I crave? While I personally found the tea base to be enjoyable, Ceylon I believe, the bergamot was too subdued. I don’t get it. There was no resemblance to the bag form. Twinings has to have better quality control than this. Surely there was something wrong with this tin. It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t up to the standard I expected.

Today we tried this again using a coffee press. Major improvement. The bergamot was much more pronounced. Same measured amount of tea as before, the only difference was I used the press this time and an infuser the first. Lesson learned the leaves need room to be free.

drank 100% Natural Green by Lipton

Mom’s idea of green tea. I remember I liked it when I first tried it. Tonight I found it bitter, with little tea taste. Very disappointing.

drank Orange Blossom by Tazo

Wife wanted Starbuck’s. I thought sure I can have a nice cup of tea. Wrong. Wish I had read the reviews here first. As a general rule I avoid tea with more than say 3 ingredients. This rule has served me well. To bad I violated it. Another rule is tea shouldn’t be served in paper cups. The leaf looks interesting in the sachet. It smells interesting – kind of orangey. The taste at first was too bland. I can’t taste any tea. Put the bag in to steep longer. Now the fennel and licorice overwhelm causing my mouth to pucker and I still can’t taste tea.

drank Peach Apricot by Hedley's
1719 tasting notes

Contains Ceylon tea with flavoring. I have never seen this brand in the store. My son got it in a gift basket. There were ten bags in paper envelopes all wrapped in cellophane – so you know it was fresh ;-). Upon opening, the envelope had no distinct smell. The bag seemed on the smallish side but the tea dust did expand quite nicely when brewed. The brew itself is dark and typical in appearance of other Ceylon black teas. The aroma was lightly flowery and pretty. I added a packet of sweetener (sorry to the purists) and tasted. Immediately tasted peach, then the apricot. Even using my 10oz mug this actually seemed strong enough to my tastes. It was very sweet. I should have used less sweetener. I am sure this is an inexpensive tea but I must admit, I rather enjoyed it.

I have no idea where how I came to have a can of this tea, but WOW!!! I love everything about it. I also added sweetner and at times some half and half. I have no idea how long I’ve had it, but it tasted really fresh. It is round tea bags, 20 of them packed into a round can. The smell is awesome and the taste is out of sight. The Peach and Apricot flavors are distinct and blend together so well. I’m going on-line now to find a store or an on-line site to purchase more to satisfy my desire for more of this wonderfullly delicious tea!

What I had was regular square tea bags but it was pretty tasty for old tea bags.

drank Lemon Green by Ahmad Tea
1719 tasting notes

Contains green tea and lemon flavor. Normally when I tear open the foil envelope of a flavored tea I immediately notice the aroma. That is not the case here as I notice only the grassy hint of green tea. Brewing results in a pail green/caramel colored liquor. The aroma of the brew is only slightly lemon scented. First sip brings to mind hard lemon candy. It is not quite the taste of fresh squeezed lemon and it is not the subtle lemongrass influenced flavor of Stash Lemon & White. This is bold and bright with a bit of green tea after taste. I can’t quite make up my mind about this tea. On the one hand it isn’t exactly natural lemon tasting, on the other I keep brewing another cup.

drank Mint Pu-erh by Numi Organic Tea
1719 tasting notes

This is my first puerh tea. I applaud Numi for using a generous 2g of whole tea leaves in each bag. However, I am not a fan of mint tea – it is like drinking tea with gum in your mouth. To my tastes, this would be a much more pleasant drink with none or half the mint although it is not completely overwhelming in this blend. When hot, the tea has a very earthy taste. The earthiness becomes less pronounced as the tea cools. I imagine this is not for everyone but it is an interesting tea. Package contains 16 tea bags.

drank Peony White by Prince of Peace

This is inexpensive tea. Don’t let that stop you from trying it. I enjoyed drinking this tea. I like that the bags come packed inside a zip lock bag. I also enjoy knowing that every time I buy a box I am helping to support an orphanage in China for special health needs children. That in itself is enough reason to try this brand. Mellow in taste. Sure you can buy a lot better but for grocery store tea this is pretty good.

Cofftea – I apologize for deleting your comment I was trying to reply but I obviously don’t understand the console. If you go to popus.com and read their about us page they list a lot of products you have probably used and their charitable policy seems to be company wide
