6106 Tasting Notes
Still working my way through my packet of this lovely tea. This one, I brewed properly. It’s all rock sugary yet vegetal and absolutely delicious. Pretty flavourful, even above my little attempt at supper. I really need to get through these teas though… so much left to drink, and I feel like I’ll never get through everything (it’s true…)
Preparation
I have tons of tasting notes to post… but for now, what I’m currently drinking! I’ve been craving a tasty green for a while, so brewed up two from Verdant this evening. Annoyingly, I think I chose the wrong green to eat with sprouted mung beans with lemon/cumin. It’s just too subtle! Alternately, I messed up brewing parameters. So I’ve thrown the leaves back in to hopefully coax out a bit more flavour. Totally my bad :(
Preparation
Sincere apologies for this bombing of everyone with tasting notes. I’m typing things up as quickly as I can before I forget!
Anyhow, this is by FAR the best marshmallowy/s’mores tea I have had. It tastes like a s’more melted in a cup. The marshmallow is quite obvious, and even before remembering what the tea was, I clearly tasted chocolate. Didn’t really get graham cracker, but I don’t really care for them, so that doesn’t matter! I was much more concerned with the chocolatey marshmallow flavours.
Anyhow, for anyone disappointed in DavidsTea’s Toasted Marshmallow, or Teaopia’s Fireside S’mores, try this!! Definitely another big hit from Della Terra! (Oh, also I set the timer for 4 minutes and definitely went over by 1-2 minutes. Good thing these teas aren’t finicky!)
Preparation
Yay, put this in my order this morning. :) I actually liked Toasted Marshmallow so this should be great.
The big difference with this one is that there’s no spicing. It’s chocolate and marshmallow. DT’s toasted marshmallow failed for me in that it was heavily spiced with cinnamon. I hope you like it!
Haha, I loved it because of the cinnamon. :) I hope I like it too, I went a bit crazy with Black Friday teas but I haven’t ordered in a while so…
Just ordered 2oz of this! I’m happy you posted all these reviews today as I’d never really heard of Della Terra. Thx!
Brewed this up this morning to try and get through as many Della Terra teas as possible quickly! I have… 17, so it will take a while…
Anyways, this one smells delicious! I brewed it up (and it’s been steeping for hours, I used my Timolino infuser basket) and it also tastes delicious! A very good flavoured rooibos. Nothing medicinal, only pure sweetness and creaminess. I will admit that it does not quite taste like eggnog to me :( however, it’s caramelly sweet (akin to DavidsTea’s Creme Caramel rooibos), with some creaminess, and then a hint of spice. It’s really quite delicious. An absolutely perfect caffeine-free dessert tea, even for those who aren’t too keen on rooibos! I’m getting a little worried that by the end of my Della Terra tasting spree, I will want to purchase bags of everything … the only teas I haven’t been super keen on so far are Saveur de Paris (just not unique enough), and Chocolate Almond Coconut, which was ok in flavour but quite weak (and besides, I have some of that one left).
Preparation
I’m really impressed with this one. A rooibos in a flavour I don’t already have multiples of! Upped the rating because… yum…
Mmmmm. I wasn’t planning on buying anything today, but I ended up getting this during their sale. Thanks for the rec!
Yeah, I pretty much want to buy full bags of everything I had samples of… three try me packs. uh oh.
Enjoyed one of these with Raritea today!! I got to meet another Steepster, which was awesome. Sil and Indigobloom – we were hatching plans for the four of us to meet up for an awesome tea day perhaps in January!
Anyways, this was pretty good, although a touch chalky today in my opinion. And perhaps overly sweet. Ah well, I didn’t have to make it myself :D
The only green tea latte I really like is from Lettieri though it’s been over a year since I tried it.
So envious you got to meet Raritea!!
Grabbed some hot-ish water running out the door to the soccer game last night (along with a mug and an infuser full of this tea), and steeped the tea at the game. Such a loser! It wasn’t as flavourful as usual because the water was DEFINITELY not hot enough (I’m tempted to say it was between 60-70C or perhaps lower, but good enough! And I kept the leaves, so I can re-steep and not feel bad about wasting tea :D
Just gotta write a couple super quick notes. I got my Della Terra order yesterday!!!! Just in time to be able to hit up weekend sales if I so choose :D Got started immediately, and brewed this up last night. I have to say… it’s EXACTLY what I was hoping for! Chocolatey and orangey. More like a Terry’s dark chocolate orange than milk, but it was completely true to the name. It’s pretty much what I wanted DavidsTea’s Oh Christmas Treat/Chocolate Orange to be, but there’s no risk of fishiness here! And I even oversteeped this one by accident, and it was still great. I used ~3 heaping tsp to a Timolino full of water, and it was perfect.
Also, this wwasn’t even a tea I ordered in my Try Me packs – it was a free sample! Awesome!!
Preparation
It’s like early Christmas! I feel like I’ve been on a sorta-tea-buying-hiatus for a while, and suddenly I’m getting samples and expecting packages and creating orders…. so exciting! Anyhow, my samples from Zen Tea arrived today, thank you! Although I wanted to try them all, I’m exhausted from a long day of work and only allowed myself to brew up one new tea requiring a review.
The dry leaves instantly reminded me of DavidsTea’s Checkmate, which I thought was quite interesting. Perhaps it’s something to do with the base tea? Either way, it would be awesome if it was that tasty!
Unfortunately, I oversteeped this one quite severely. However, I don’t think it really suffered, as astringency is still quite low. That said, something in this tea is tasting plasticky too me. Like, artificial flavouring. I can kind of taste a bit of toffee sweetness and nuttiness, but it’s overshadowed by this strange flavour. While it’s possible that it’s an artifact of my extended infusion, I suspect it’s more likely a flavouring issue. I have lots of tea left in the packet to sample, so I’ll give this another shot somewhere down the road!
Although I appreciate the chance to try this tea, I unfortunately don’t particularly care for it as I’m quite sensitive to artificial-tasting flavours :(
ETA: Damn, I am the only person to have a negative review here. I’ll definitely have to see if a shorter infusion as recommended makes a difference. For now, removing rating.
Preparation
I steeped mine for 7 minutes, but with a lower temperature, I usually steep all my white teas at 160F
I’ll have to try a couple things. I could tell it was tasty aside from that odd flavour, which was unfortunate!
yes it was unfortunate! I hate it when I find something that sounds like it should be out of this world yummy and there is this odd taste that just upsets everything. :(
