78 Tasting Notes
I don’t drink a lot of Chinese green tea, but I adored this. It does taste a little like Dragonwell, but greener? More vegetal? I don’t know, but I liked it and I’m glad I bought it. I was looking for a good straight green tea (not that I don’t love genmaicha, but it’s nice to have choices) and I definitely found one.
Edit 5/29/11: Upping the rating because I have literally drunk nothing else since this arrived. I already loved it, but it’s grown on me even more, and I might have to get more to greet the morning with during my summer semester.
Preparation
This grew on me. It had a really odd, kind of bitter aftertaste at first, but it was incredible the last two times I made it before it ran out. You can really taste the strawberry AND the green tea AND the popcorn, so my mouth got a little confused, but I ultimately enjoyed it.
Preparation
First of all, after buying from Teavana so often, this was deliciously cheap. I got 4 ounces for 10 dollars with shipping.
That said, this is one of my favorite teas. (Nostalgia may color this review. This is the first proper tea I ever had.) I don’t think it’s for everyone, though; for one thing, it smells kind of like cherry cough syrup, but I probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much if it were subtle. You can smell the roses and you can taste the cherries and I don’t think the green tea is overpowered. Definitely buying more once my bag runs out.
Preparation
I think I should have steeped this for four minutes instead of three, but it came out really lovely and was absolutely perfect for the ridiculous summer we get in Georgia. I made it for my mom and best friend and we all agree that it would probably be really good iced.
Preparation
This is lovely! I’ve never had Golden Yunnan before, I was looking for a good black tea to help get me up in the morning and thought it looked interesting. I’m not very good at describing tastes in tea terms, so I’ll just say it tastes like velvet. Delicious, dark velvet. It’s kind of a better winding-down tea, so my hunt for morning black tea is still on, but I’ll definitely pick this up again.
Preparation
It’s more bitter than I was expecting, but I like it a lot. It’s a great summer tea. I haven’t tried it iced like everyone’s saying, but I probably will.
If you rebrew this at the same water temperature but for about 15 seconds longer, the blackberry taste suddenly becomes very sweet. It’s a weaker brew, but it has a nice, very sweet blackberry aftertaste.
