I had all of the teas that make this blend separated. So, when I made the blend I went totally OCD about it and prepared the teas separately since you get the best flavor out of each component if you follow the temperature/infusing guidelines. When I combined them, this tea was magnificent! I am speaking from memory here though, as it’s been over a year since I’ve had this tea. I do however remember that it was a delicious and interesting blend that I may have to recreate after I thin out my tea collection. This is probably going to take a while since I just put in a lengthy order at Davids Tea, but the fall chill has me warming my hands on so many cups’o’tea. Delightful!

I was looking through my cupboard and noticed how I’ve only “logged” it twice. I’ve had this tea so many times it’s nearly impossible to count. From all the chai teas I have tried so far, this one is my go-to kick start as fall becomes more and more chilly. It has a nice amount of spice without being overpowering, and it comes out consistently good (which is more than what I can say about Teavana’s Masala Chai, which I think is now cancelled). I’m glad they came out with this one though. As far as I can tell, the spices are nicely balanced and it’s not overpowered by cinnamon, so if you’re looking for a cinnamon predominant chai go for the Maharajah Chai Oolong (that one will knock your socks off!!). I tried this tea with a splash of vanilla almond milk earlier this week and it was wonderful :)

Thanks so much to my friend that bought me this tea for my birthday. This black tea was very pleasant to drink. It has a smooth flavor and a tiny bitter aftertaste that I actually found added nice complexity to the drink. I’m not sure if I could taste the cardamom, but I also wouldn’t say my palate is very highly developed. In any case, it blended well with the tea and made a wonderful yet uplifting blend.

This tea is great- the description does not do it justice. I smelled the sample at the store before I got a cup of it and it had a smooth black tea smell, and yet it had invigorating chai spices in it! Besides cinnamon, I believe the sample also said ginger and cardamom, so it’s actually quite tasty. The orange blends in well too and is quite complementary to the other spices. I look forward to my next cup of it :)

The color of this tea is just gorgeous. I’m never expecting it but as soon as it shoots out of my teamaker into my clear cup it’s this vibrant hot pink that’s very clear. The flavor is lightly sweet with strawberries and that hint of apple. The finish is topped off with that popcorn/caramel taste. All the flavors are subtle and intertwined…just wonderful!

drank Caramel Vanilla Chai by 52teas

The caramel and vanilla flavors in this tea are more of an undertone. The black pepper and clove dominate the taste for me, and there is a pleasant hint of cinnamon. I had to add a splash of milk and 2tsp of rock sugar to an 8oz cup, but this tea has some pizzaz to it! Although I was expecting a more smooth chai given its name, its robust flavor is a pleasant surprise. This will definitely keep me awake as study!

There are two separate pages for this tea. Hmmm. I still love it. So smooth and delicious. Light enough for my tastes!

This tea was delicious. It stole my attention from my academic work, so I’m afraid it’s not conducive to studying in the same way as a chai tea. But it was great with some sugar – it really brought out the slight honey flavor. It’s a great value for the taste too! It may not be picked by monkeys, but it’s mmm mmm good!

drank Monkey-Picked Oolong by Teavana

I’m on my second infusion of this tea, which is more astringent than the first. The flavor is also less smooth, and overall less preferable to me. I’m going to try and brew it without my yixing pot to see if that’s affecting the flavor.

I can’t help but imagine little monkeys picking tea. It always makes me smile :)

Honey

I read somewhere that tea pickers would throw things at the monkeys who were sitting in the trees, and the monkeys would pick the tea leaves and throw them at the people in return. Since those leaves were at the top of the trees, I suppose it was a very creative way of getting the leaves picked! It’s a good thing the monkeys didn’t throw something else in return… :)
