726 Tasting Notes
Had this iced with my lunch this morning :)
Much much better iced than hot! Very tart, but it does have that yoghurt-y taste to it. Definitely taste the strawberries and the yoghurt :) And it did have a very opaque/metallic shimmer to it which I love! I’ve poured about half of my cold brew into my kleen kanteen to entertain myself through my 6hour day today :)
Preparation
Dude.
Swaps are taking over my entire life right now.
Thank you VariaTEA for including this tea in our swap!
Ahh DRINK ALL THE ROOIBOS!!!
I actually only picked this tea up from out of the package because of the name. Dude, Swaziland? Sounds way cool :)
Thank you Rachel for giving me so many rooibos teas, and actually helping me at least try to cut caffeine out of my nighttime routine haha.
Accidentally weighed out 4g of this even though I’m using my 8oz mug, Ahh well, at least I love all my rooibos like super way overleafed and oversteeped :)
It smells interesting. Like nice, sweet south african rooibos, but I definitely smell hints of flora… and cinnamon? I think it’s just my nose playing with me hahah
Okay seriously, I feel like it’s a good thing that I added too much tea for this mug. After like 5 minutes, I tasted it and it’s just leafy water. I don’t know, I’m just weird with my rooibos okay
IT’S GOOD! I like it a lot! But I’m probably going to let this steep for another like 10 minutes :)
It’s a really nice rooibos. I really like the sweetness of the rooibos, and yet there’s a bit of a punch with the fruity flavours. Yep. It’s good :)
Preparation
Sipdown!
Thank you MissB for the sample :)
Dude. This tea is GREEN.
It’s like super vegetal/spinachy from the dry leaf scent, to the actual taste of the tea itself.
I don’t know if I like these super vegetal greens though. Like I totally understand that people love them, and this is how legit straight greens taste, but dude, it’s a bit much for me.
I like my straight blacks so much, but straight greens? Gimme my flavoured ones :)
I can really tell that this is a freakin amazing tea though. Nice quality, nice taste. But it’s just not for me. A WONDERFUL sample, but at least I know that my palette prefers flavoured greens, rather than straight.
Sipdown!
Thank you shmiracles for sending me a butt ton of fandom blends :)
I think I’ve figured it out. The smoky blends with the Lapsang, they’re actually really good! I feel like Adagio’s Lapsang is very strong, but if you let the tea sit and let the flavour settle to the bottom, it’s not that smoky. Like I love the smokiness, but sometimes this tea is just too much for me. So yeah. This is a pretty good tea! But it is a bit strong for my taste, but I’ve found ways to make it work for me :)
Sipdown!
Still a very nice blend. Happy to see it go for the fact that it’s one less tea in my cupboard, but I did enjoy my time with this tea very much. Thank you MissB for giving me the change to try this tea!
See previous note for the actual tasting note bit of this tea :)
So I’ve been reading a lot.
Like I just finished Allegiant, the last book in the Divergent trilogy. I finished it at around 2am this morning and.. it was okay? The story was very slow, but the ending tied the trilogy off very nicely.
Yes, tears were shed, but I loved my time with these books!
Books and tea just go hand in hand so I’m on Adagio right now trying to keep the Divergent alive in me haha. Making some Divergent blends aww yiss
First time using my milk frother!
Definitely had a cheapo IKEA milk frother that I got years ago for like $2 but… it died a couple weeks ago.
Parents bought me the DAVIDsTEA milk frother and mailed it to me aaaand IT’S SO PRETTY OKAY.
But this is a nice matcha! But that’s like it. I can’t really taste the caramel bit of it? Maybe it’s the milk. I like using Vanilla Almond Milk with my matchas and maybe this milk is too sweet? I don’t remember trying this with good ol’ cow milk so I’ll probably do that next time :) I’m down to the bottom of my package so the next time is definitely going to be a sipdown!
Thank you MissB for sending me this sample! And she left a little note on it as well! Her favourite white. Well it does smell lovely so I’m excited to end my night with this tea :)
Mmmm this smells so good! More sweet like caramel and toffee :) I can’t quite put my finger on the exact flavour though. It’s like toffee, but has the brightness of mint (like the feeling in the mouth, not the actual flavour of mint. Does that even make sense?). Bonny, I see why this is your favourite white! It’s so nice and smooth and bright. I’m reading other notes on this and there’s coconut!? Ahh this is a great tea, and I don’t really taste the coconut, which is great because coconut isn’t really my favoutite flavour. But dude. THIS TEA IS GOOD.
I’m getting different tastes than other people. I usually underleaf my teas. Like usually it’s 3g to 8oz, but I found for my tastes, that is a bit too much for me, so it’s 2g for 8oz and it works perfect for this tea! This ratio may be underleafing for others, but it’s the perfect amount for me :)
((shout out to Flo [aka awoogah on here] for finally making a steepster account because I’ve been telling her all these stories about steepster ahha))
Preparation
I feel like I totally ruined this tea because I followed directions and poured boiling water on top of these leaves. But the package said boiling sooo boiling it is.
I’ll probably make it anther time later this week with the usual time and temp for how I like my white teas.
But this has a wonderful melon scent right out of the package! Smells similar to their Golden Honey Dew, but definitely not as strong.
Steeping and it definitely smells burnt. Can tea do that? Give off a burnt aroma? And there are definitely scorch marks on the leaves.
IN MY DEFENSE, I WAS FOLLOWING THE PACKAGE INSTRUCTIONS.
next time I’ll definitely make it the way I know white tea leaves like to be handled :)
Well, it’s nice. It doesn’t smell all that good, and the bright melon scent from the dry leaves definitely were replaced with something heavier. I think it’s because of the temperature of my water.
But even though I went against instinct and treated these leaves HORRIBLY (and followed instructions), this tea turned out nice! I would highly recommend using cooler water, and probably a longer steeping time, in an effort to keep the lightness and bright sent of the dry leaves.
Flavors: Melon
Preparation
SHMIRACLES I’M FINALLY DRINKING TONY STARK. I’VE BEEN PUTTING THIS TEA OFF FO SO LONG AND TODAY IS THE DAY.
Dude. I don’t know what it is, but all the fandom blends that use Lapsang always taste so weird. Like I actually really like lapsang! But I haven’t had Adagio’s lapsang alone, only in blends, but I’m convinced that Adagio’s lapsang is just… weird in its own way.
Oh Tony. You smell like… it’s the cockiness in you that deserves such a smoky, dark, spicy tea.
OH GOSH NO.
I AM SO SORRY
BUT ONE SIP
What is in this blend!? Tiger Eye, Lapsang Souchong and Ginger
Oh gosh. I’ll like force this down my throat and resteep to see if I can get a different taste, but at first sip, this is a no.
EDIT: This got a bit tame as it cooled and a lot of the flavour sank to the bottom. Not completely terrible and sour and gross from what I tasted right when it finished steeping, but at least it was a totally drinkable tea :)
Preparation
Always sad when a tea you were really looking forward to end up being disappointing. Especially a fandom tea.
listen, i love a good lapsang blend, i love an adventurous lapsang blend, i seriously think the Smaug tea is super great, but this Tony Stark tea? it might be a problem. i don’t think i’ve tried it since that first big cup i brewed.
what i DO like about this tea… it makes sense! because, TONY.
so in a way it’s like a hilarious joke. a bold prank.
ha ha very funny Tony, you got me.
okay edit! i went back and read my review so apparently i AM into this tea? it’s cold today. i do think lapsang is for cold weather. so i’ll try to have it again and re-evaluate my opinion.
truth be told, i try to be a practical kind of gal, but if anything is gonna influence my opinion, it would probably be my current love of everything Marvel Avengers. so, consider the source :)
Thank you NayLynn for the sample!
I’m so tired and I guess a kick in the butt with guayusa would do it!
This tea smells like how an orange cream popsicle would smell like! Like the scent is DEAD ON.
I feel like I’ve left it to steep for a bit too long since it’s right on the edge of being bitter, but it’s still pretty good!
It definitely tastes like a tangerine cream pop! Definitely a great blend :)
I haven’t purchased from Butiki yet, but I’ve had plenty of their teas from swaps and their teas and flavours are as close to perfect as you can get!
Once I get my cupboard down to a reasonable number, I think I’d happily splurge on Butiki :)
Flavors: Cream, Orange Zest
I had the exact same experience. This is definitely a “cold brew ONLY” tea.
