553 Tasting Notes

My advent calendar arrived today with an added extra sample. Just a little excited that one of the many orders I placed since November is here. Super excited to check out Teamancy’s Teas since they look delightful on the website. This is the second day’s offering. The first was an Earl Grey and I am not a fan of EG so I’m saving that one for my hubs.

This blend tastes exactly like it should. The tea is coconut forward and there is a toasted note. There is also a coconut oil flavor that comes in stronger towards the end of each sip as well. That familiar green tea buttery flavor is more in the background and adds to that coconut oil finish I’m getting.

I can’t say that I love the tea but there is nothing wrong with it. Coconut just isn’t a flavor I look for in my tea so I’m more meh but if you are a coconut fan, this might be one for you. I don’t see this one on the site so I think this might be a calendar exclusive blend.

Flavors: Coconut, Green, Toasted

I will be 100% transparent. . . I bought this tea for the name (yes, I’m that mature). Brewed up a huge serving of this one to enjoy while working and wow, so good. This tea tastes delicate (if that makes sense). All of the flavors are light but 100% there. I’m picking up sweet honey and floral notes like rose. Also picking up hints of peach. As the tea cools, the floral notes intensify, which I’m happy about. This might be a tea to enjoy over the holidays with the fancy desserts I ordered.

Flavors: Honey, Peach, Rose

Ooh fancy desserts?! Do tell!

I’ve never had macarons before so we have a bunch of those coming, a Milky Way cheesecake (yes, the candy bar)and about four different kinds of gourmet cupcakes. I’m toooo excited! Typically our desserts are all homemade. I plan on having an afternoon tea party on Christmas since we all have to healthy quarantine from each other in our house and figured we needed to splurge a bit.

I am a sucker for quirky names, too; I believe this tops ’em all! I am not an aficionado of poultry droppings, although my mom used to tell a whopper of a chicken story (another time, maybe) … but is there a similarity in shape?

(Nope, just checked the website picture. That isn’t it!) Just…why? :)

Brewed up a giant serving of this lovely today. I haven’t really felt like white teas lately but I was drawn to this one . Lovely floral notes of rose and what I would describe as honeysuckle and maybe a hint of lavender. As the tea cools, I’m also get some pretty strong melon flavors as well. Delicious!

With being in healthy quarantine, I thought this might be a good time to dig into my tea stash. Fingers crossed one of the many tea orders I placed this month will show up so I can have myself a lovely tea party.

Flavors: Honeysuckle, Lavender, Melon, Rose

That tea sounds really good! I think a lot of us are digging into our stashes this holiday season.

(Sipdown from earlier in the month)

This tea is one of the best flavored teas I’ve had in some time and probably the best caramel apple tea I’ve ever had. The caramel apple notes are quite up front with a touch of cinnamon here and there. The tea smells amazing and tastes even better. Another plus is that the blend is a fandom blend from Penny Dreadful. Didn’t have the greatest of luck with resteeping which is sad because I wanted another cup.

I adore this tea oh so much! I’ve had it several times now and have re-ordered several times. This is one of those teas that never lets you down and lasts for several infusions. Slightly crisp and sweet. Very honey like with a note of malt towards the end. Wish I could describe more but I have the never ending sinus infection and those are the only notes I’m grabbing right now. I know in the past I’ve picked up more.

Another lovely comforting tea.

Flavors: Honey, Malt

Oh, my goodness, that sounds exquisite!

gmathis- if you would like some, I’d be happy to share.

Nichole/Cuppageek – try the lymphatic drainage massage by Heather on youtube! It has helped me avoid a few ear infections and relieved congestion.

Sad Sipdown -but I can’t get enough of this tea! Thankfully it is still offered on the site. It literally is the perfect companion to a Monday going wrong on a few levels. We’ve now had two direct exposures to COVID which is not a good thing at all but with our kiddo-Parker going thru treatment at St Judes, things are really scary. (Two of our kids are currently in healthy quarantine too) Parker was hospitalized last week with a cold and we ventured into some pretty scary waters. My hubs and I are both feeling really overwhelmed and both have made up new cuss words. Oversharing here but I’m sort of at a loss today. Tea is the ultimate comfort.

Flavors: Bread, Burnt, Chocolate, Malt, Raisins, Sweet

So sorry for the hard time your family is going through, Nichole! Just prayed for you.

omg i’m so sorry to hear that Nichole. I really hope things get easier and you run in to less exposures. hug hang in there!

Thanks Sil and Inkling! xoxoxo Appreciate all of the kind words/support. I try not to overshare too much but today is getting to me.

I’m sorry to hear about your family and hope you stay safe. This is a scary time.

I am so sorry, Nichole! You ARE going to make it! Praying for you and sending a hug – really really – right now.

You are pulling a heavy load. Share all you need to if that lightens it any. Praying!

Praying for you and your family.

Nichole, you gotta let it out one way or another and this a good avenue. My heart is with you.

Can’t imagine how difficult this must be for your family. Praying for your little one’s recovery. Stay safe out there.

Praying for your family too!

You all are seriously amazing! I appreciate you more than I can express! From supporting my tea biz, to welcoming me back on Steepster, to these amazing words. Steepster has become my little safe spot recently where I take the time for myself and reflect or just take a moment. This year has been massively overwhelming and now that our Christmas has to be social distanced within our own little unit, it is really getting to me. Thank you all for these words.
I cherish them all! xoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Sending good vibes your way. Maybe oversharing on another platform is just plain sharing with your friends on Steepster :)

Wishing all the health and strength to you and your family!

Back log from early early this morning. . .

After having a pretty delightful gingerbread tea from Brandywine Teas (which is now sold out), I’ve been on the hunt for another one. I didn’t have the biggest hope for this one but made into a latte, this tea is not too bad. I think next go I would add in a bit more ginger and cinnamon to bring out the spices a bit more but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Sadly, not a substitute for my beloved Gingerbread Rose, but not bad either.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Ginger, Nutmeg

Backlog from last night. . . .

This was another blend from the Adagio Advent Calendar. I have heard some pretty high reviews of this blend from others but this blend was not for me. I honestly didn’t get much flavor at all until the very last lingering note where I picked up some cherry. It sounds amazing and maybe my taste buds are off, but this one just didn’t hit the mark for me.

Now this is how you start a morning off right. Lovely dark chocolate notes with a rich malty like texture along wit a hint of bready notes to finish. First infusion and I’m already in love. Soooo glad I brewed up a giant pot of this one.

The hubs is gone for the eve and the kiddos would rather play games then hang with me, so its a tea party this eve for me.

Trying to get caught up with this Adagio Advent Calendar. . . .I wanted to really like this one. There used to be a Campfire Custom Blend from Adagio that I loved back in the day but this one, there just is something a bit off and possibly artificial flavored. I get lots and lots of smoke with a hint of an off chocolate note. The flavors just are not mixing like I would have enjoyed. I’ve heard a lot about this one so I’m glad I was able to try it but not one I would need to have again or anything.

On to the next tea!

Flavors: Artificial, Chocolate, Smoke

I’m back and hopefully for good! After a bit of a hiatus, I want to get back in the habit of logging my tea journey for various reasons.

I never know how to start these things. I’m a 40ish tea loving gal who enjoys tea parties, horror movies and polka dots/plaid. I have an amazing supportive husband who has allowed our house to be over run by tea in more ways than one. We have four kiddos between us along with our two furbabies that we love as much as they drive us nuts. Our family truly is our world.

Now on to the tea: I love all kinds. I’m not a huge fan of red rooibos- truly is my arch enemy but I love green rooibos. Beyond that, I’ll try everything once or twice to make sure I didn’t bumble up the steepings. Recently got into puerh and enjoying the adventure. If you are interested in something from me, just holler at me. I’m always up for trying new tea blends or sharing with others!

I’ve also started blending up my own teas at http://www.cuppageekteas.com/ I try to make fun unique blends to brighten someones day with.

I am also the admin behind SororiTea Sisters. If you are interested in reviewing teas for us, let me know!. We are always looking for guest reviewers or contributors: http://sororiteasisters.com/.
