drank Deep Green Embrace by Tealish

I finally ordered from Tealish. I had been meaning to for 2 years, but I tend to always buy my teas (and well everything I ever buy) on sale. Tealish has never had a sale since I’ve been following them. Well – it’s so good I threw my “I never pay full price!” mantra out the window.

I ordered this one on a whim. I came across on the website and just thought it sounded good. I’m not sure if you can go wrong with Tealish but this one BLEW MY MIND.

It’s incredible. It’s spicy and fresh, but warm and comforting. I love it. I taste mint and pepper. Oh wow, do I love this. I’ve never tasted another tea quite like it.

Important to note that at the time of this note, it sells for $10/50g. While this initially seemed expensive to me, it is organic and it’s very light so you get a good volume for 50g.

drank Ginger Sparkle by Tealish

I had entertained trying this tea before, but I wrote it off as just another generic ginger tea. But when I came across this one in my Tealish sampler, it was love at first sniff. The dry leaves remind me of Jelly Babies. (Which happen to be my favourite British sweet)

The flavour of this tea is soft and whimsical, which I’m finding is true of many Tealish teas. It’s pleasantly gingery, but without being too strong, and somewhat sweet and citrusy.

If I keep having success with Tealish teas, I’m going to have to take a trip to their store in Toronto…
(Though it does bother me when tea companies recommend people use boiling water, even on delicate green tea leaves)

Hmm, where did you get this sampler, Jessmicka?

Jessimicka

I picked up on clearance at Indigo! Reg $32 on for $23. Tealish still has it on their website for 32. Well worth even the higher price.

Evol Ving Ness

Thank you! Do you physically go to Indigo or was it on sale online?

Jessimicka

It’s sold out on the Indigo website. You can check stock in local stores online though. If you’re in TO then you probably have better luck at finding a box. I’m in Hamilton, had to go to Burlington to get it.

Evol Ving Ness

Thank you. You are one determined tea shopper. :)
I totally get that.

I will see what the possibilities here are.

Although I have gone way overboard on teas in November and December. And the not-buying-tea-savings-plan began on January 1st. :)

But $23! Yay.

Jessimicka

I did a $100 Teavana order on Christmas eve day…my husband is going to flip when it arrives!

cough I stopped into a DT yesterday and got somewhat mesmerized by the 40% off displays. Similar damage. cough

Jessimicka

Haha! I was at the mall yesterday and had to fight the urge…only because I know I’ll be buying in a few days when I get to cash in my frequent steeper points ;)

drank Sleepy Fairy by Tealish

This is very similar to Tealish’s Lavender Mint tea that I raved about in the summer. It also reminds me of Davids’ Midsummer Nights Dream tea. Both are pretty high on my favourites list, so that’s a good thing. I’m pretty in love right now.

It differs from Lavender Mint of course in the fact that there’s no mint in this one, which makes it a much more subtle flavour. It’s also got a creamy citrusy-ness to it.

I picked this up in a sampler pack of Tealish at Indigo today, but I’m glad to see that Well.ca carries Sleepy Fairy so I can easily restock!

Is it tea? Or is it just hot coloured water? Because I ain’t tasting much. The flavour is pretty much non existant. It smells nice and has a pretty colour to it…

drank Banana Nut Bread by DAVIDsTEA
59 tasting notes

I was pretty skeptical of this. I’m not a big fan of nutty teas.

I only purchased 20g of it, and unfortunately it’s a ‘bulky’ tea, so 20g is barely enough for two large mugs of tea.

As it was steeping I was hit with the banana scent and mmmm!!! It smelled so good! I was very excited to drink it! It is definitely pre-sweetened, but not overly. I enjoyed the flavour and it definitely did have a bit of that “baked goods” flavour I wanted.

Downfall – It re-steeps horribly. Expect to have it once, and toss it out. And don’t forget because it’s weighty, you won’t get much to begin with. So if you are thrifty like me, the value just isn’t there. (OH I heart my Vanilla Orchid Oolong, that I can resteep like 5 times!!)

I find with teas with fruit pieces they are usually only good for one steep.

I just wrote this on a different tasting note, but the more I read about this tea the more I want to try it! haha

drank Snow Day by DAVIDsTEA

My first sip was like WTF? I found the taste odd. I was at work with it in my thermos. I kept sipping through my shift and it grew on me. I got to the bottom and was kind of like damn, I’m out of tea.

It’s very minty, with a smoothness creamy-ness and I get a hint of chocolate.

It’s not going to be for everyone, but I’ll scoop more up after Christmas when it is bound to go on sale.

Flavors: Chocolate, Creamy, Peppermint

I had a sample in the store the other day. I am not a mint person, at all. But I liked it. I might pick up a bit. The problem is that I find that the in store samples are not always all that true to life when you then make it at home.

Kristal

I thought this one is alright, but I already have near-full tins of regular peppermint tea + cold 911 so that’s enough peppermint for now :P

drank Ginger Beer by DAVIDsTEA

I’m glad I only picked up 25g of this. I don’t dislike it, it’s just sort of mediocre. All I taste is ginger, just ginger. I guess it’s good if you just want a solid ginger tea.

I bought this because I L-O-V-E Davids Vanilla Orchid Oolong, and wanted to add a pure Oolong to my collection. This is pretty darn good. It’s slightly floral and sweet. I added a tiny touch of agave and a splash of plain soymilk. Very, very satisfying. I really think I am an Oolong girl. Time to add more to the collection. (I do have at least 3 others, but they’re the types that are way over powered by additional flavourings)

Best. Rooibis. Ever. Most rooibis teas tend to taste pretty much just like rooibis, no matter how you try to dress it up. “It tastes like caramal!” No, tastes like rooibis. “It tastes like frosting!” Nope. Still rooibis. But guess what? This one tastes like strawberries, and melon. (Someone else mentioned it tasted like melon, and I think that planted the idea in my head and I tasted it at first sip) Not rooibis.

Tealish! You win again!

Profile

Bio

Tea literally gets me through the day. I start with something caffeinated in the morning, then usually a re-steep or less caffeinated tea mid morning and work my way to a herbal by night.

Green tea and oolong are top in my books. I recently discovered that I LOVE genmaicha – but I get why it’s not for everyone. My favourite flavours right now are lime, lavender and mint. I tend to dislike teas that have raisins or hibiscus, and I’m not fond of weak fruit infusions.

A lot of my teas come from Davidstea. I also have some Teavana and Tealish. When I can, I try to pick up unique teas. My most prized tea is a tea from Ste Anne’s Spa in Grafton, Ont called Cinnamon Glow.
