If you are craving something sweet, this hits the spot. My only issue with it is I’m mostly getting icing. No real cake. It’s certainly not bad but there’s only so much icing you can eat before you get sick of it (at least that’s the case for me). Might switch up the temperature/steeping time to see if that has any impact.

(Another Della Terra purchase from the recent sale. I picked up an ounce.)

Oh my goodness, in the bag and while steeping, this tea smells so delicious! I love carrot cake and sniffing the bag was like having the real thing sitting on my counter top. I used about 2.5 teaspoons for my 16 oz steeping mug and added sweetener.

I’ll admit, I was worried about this one. I was kind of expecting it not to live up to my expectations; however, it has impressed me! It tastes like carrot cake (including the cream cheese icing) and it’s caffeine free! One thing though, I really have to savor and drink the tea slowly, otherwise, the 2nd sip kinds of mutes out the first one (if that makes any sense).

In any case, during the next Della Terra sale, I’ll be ordering more of this!

drank S'mores by Della Terra Teas

I couldn’t resist the recent Della Terra sale and purchased 2 of the try me packs (including a sample of S’mores). I used 2 heaping teaspoons, plus about a half of a 3rd for my 16oz steeping mug and added sweetener and a dash of skim milk.

I mostly get the marshmallow from this tea, which isn’t a bad thing. There’s a bit of graham cracker but I’m not really detecting any chocolate. I think next time I’ll follow the recommendations a little more closely.

Not sure that I’d keep this around but I’ll finish the sample.

Thanks to KallieBoo! for this sample!

Yummy! I have put off trying teas from 52teas other than through swap because it’s so much tea to get if you wind up hating it! This, however, I could use some more of. I love banana and this tastes creamy and banana-y. The black base is far from overpowering or bitter. I wound up using my full sample in my mug plus some sweetener (just over 2 tsp – 16oz steeping mug). I hope it lasts another round because I want another cup!

This is pretty darn tasty! I bought the generous “sample size” (nearly an ounce) from Adagio with my last order and decided to change it up from my normal Davidstea Jasmine Black Pearls for my morning office tea. It’s basically their Valentines tea without the strawberry. So if you like that, you’ll like this. As with that tea, I do taste the chocolate. I sweetened it but didn’t add milk this go around. I’d probably buy a larger bag of this the next time I order from Adagio.

I think I might have figured this tea out. You really need to up the teaspoons. I used 3 generous teaspoons tonight for my 16oz steeping mug. I added a splash of milk and some sweetener and it’s really nice! Good thing too as I have quite a lot of this.

drank Ceylon Star by DAVIDsTEA

I’ve been pretty underwhelmed by DavidsTEA black teas, especially ones that are supposed to be flavored like dessert. I was hesitant to try this one as I very much dislike all things anise. I used the full 5 gram sample for my 16oz steeping mug, steeped for 4 minutes and added sweetener. It’s not something that I would dump out, but I’m not sure I would keep it in my cupboard. It’s ok? It actually seems a little weak as far as flavor is concerned. Did I do something wrong?

I was afraid to steep it longer than 4 minutes due to the black tea base but the packaging recommended 4-7.

Having this iced again with my dinner. It’s so nice and refreshing and thankfully, un-caffeinated (because if I have anymore today I won’t be able to sleep tonight). So glad I picked this up.

Thanks to Nicole for this generous sample!

I really like this one. It’s different from The Persimmon Tree Coconut Creme in that it tastes a little like toasted coconut (it kind of reminds me of toasted coconut marshmallows). The oolong makes it creamy. I added sweetener which makes it super sweet and dessert-like.

Delicious!

(Got 3 steeps easily out of 2 tsp of leaves in my 16oz steeping mug – probably could have gone for a 4th too).

Thanks to RogersCK for this sample!

I’m drinking it hot as I overindulged during dinner tonight (we tried out a great Belgium place that is known for their mussels) and my body could use some honeybush and/or rooibos.

With sweetener, it kind of tastes like strawberry jam. I’m getting a tiny bit of lime, no real rum taste but I’m happy about that. I can imagine that this is amazing iced.

Bio

I recently discovered loose leaf tea and am already addicted (much to my husband’s dismay)! I prefer fruity teas iced and savory teas hot. Looking forward to drinking and chatting.

Some likes/dislikes I’ve been noticing:

Likes:
Pineapple
Jasmine
Fruity White Teas
lighters Blacks
Most Oolongs (especially greener varieties)
dessert teas
tisanes iced that don’t require added sweetener

Dislikes:
Spicy flavors unless in chai
astringent black teas
heavy ginger teas
teas with licorice (as primary ingredients – somehow I like some where the licorice is in the back drop)
heavily oxidized oolongs

For my own reference, I’m only placing “full size” teas in my cupboard.
