This tea is beautiful. I got the package today and I was at work, so I spent a couple hours just periodically smelling it and hoping it would taste as good as it smelled… it took me right back to summers camping in the sierra nevada with my family, where I’d sometimes nibble on pine needles just… because.

I expected the taste to be a little more aggressive — pine needles have a bite to them, after all — but instead it’s just fresh and crisp and pretty subtle. It does not disappoint, though. I’ll be enjoying several more (tiny) pots of it tonight…

Whispering Pines Tea Company

The pine needles in here are smooth and buttery because I wildcraft and process them as an oolong to remove the astringency and bite. :) So glad you enjoyed this!

This is one of those things that got buried in the back of my cabinet so I forgot I had it… For the record: it makes an excellent addition to a banana milkshake. (… I might just start adding it to everything now, just to see how it goes…)

I haven’t been drinking much tea lately, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s because of my organizational system… or, rather, lack thereof. It’s all jumbled up on a shelf in my cupboard, and forget half of it exists. So I emptied it all out onto the kitchen tables and suddenly I want to drink all of it! … I still don’t know how to organize it though. This is hard. >.<

As far as this tea, I got absolutely no green tea in it this time. Just apples and a piece of popcorn. And while I kinda like buttery appley popcorniness, I’m still pretty disappointed. It seems kinda dishonest on DavidsTea’s part to sell this (or kiwi’s great adventure) as a green tea. They might as well not add any tea and sell it as an herbal…

Another one I had over break. It was really good, but I didn’t see much to distinguish it over the Vanilla Orchid, which is not insignificantly cheaper, so I might just stick with that…

Tried this one over break and I wasn’t super impressed. The kiwi flavor was nice, but the blend was mostly apples and didn’t have enough tea in it, I thought. I tried making it according to the directions and it came out very light and very weak… I used more tea for the next steeping, but I still wasn’t impressed. So I guess I’ll just have to keep looking if I want a good kiwi tea.

Drinking this tea seems too mundane to really warrant a tasting note, but I’ve been away from steepster for a while (first finals, then holidays). I left for the airport at 9 pm on sunday and arrived home after 3pm on monday, because of course the weather made air travel of any kind positively hellish yesterday… as a result I didn’t get nearly enough sleep, I’m sore all over and pretty out of it today… so I am enjoying the pleasant simplicity of tea that you don’t have to think about. It’s black tea, plain and simple, inoffensive, and cheap to boot. Tomorrow I’ll think about something fancier, maybe.

Tea #9.

It’s sparkly! Like glitter & gold, which I’ll admit to buying an entire tin of because SPARKLES! … the effect here is just a little bit spoiled by all the little oil droplets floating on top.

And once again, I’m a little disappointed by the caramel. Which begs the question… have I ever found a caramel tea that I actually like?? I feel like I have, maybe, but if I have I can’t remember what it was … I lied. Lupicia’s caramel and rum rooibos. But have I ever had a really good caramel black tea? Hmmm…

Overall, I’m not super impressed. It’s okay, but not amazing.
