drank Holiday Blend by CitizenTea

I finally figured out what puts me off. While I don’t think this is a bad tea… the addition of apple seems to ruin the balance. It really doesn’t do much for me without milk, not unless I’m especcially in the mood for it, which is rare, but with milk, the apple bits just don’t seem to fit.
Once I get through the first few sips it kinda grows on me a teeny bit. Slightly remnicent of what I’d imagine an apple pie latte would taste like?
Also, the base tea is highly astringent in the sour ish way. So between those two factors, I’ll easily finish the sample…. but I won’t be replacing it in my cupboard!

Extra peppercorn in my spoon today. Love that fizzy aspect. I’ll miss this one when its gone!! I think that one ingredient makes a big difference. Odd, as I thought the lemon aspect was more important. go figure :P

drank Maple Matcha by DAVIDsTEA

I grabbed this as my bday tea on Thursday. No sugar added, it already has that in the blend.
The maple notes are strong and remmicent of true maple, but I feel like it was overpowered by the marine/fishy aspect. I’m glad I don’t have it in my cupboard. Meh.

drank Marshmallow Assam by 52teas

So most vanilla teas that I try are kinda lastlustre. I guess I didn’t realize that what I was looking for in a nilla cup would be matched by a marshmallow version! I find that marshmallow has more depth and maltiness to it. Perfect pairing for Assam.
I guess that means I’ve found my ideal version of a “vanilla” tea!
The malt factor really does it for me. So happy to have this in my cupboard :D
Thank you Kittenna for tea muling this!!

drank Mengsong Sheng by JalamTeas

The flavours don’t change much from one infusion to the next and it is relatively pleasant. I’ve been quite distracted today. It could be my mental state, but I was a tad dismayed to find such little variation. Will definitely give it another go.
Also should be noted that the cake was quite dry despite being in my cupboard. So that could be why as well. What a long week.

Kirkoneill1988

what year is this cake?

Indigobloom

Good question. I’ll check when I get home

drank Supreme Pekoe by DAVIDsTEA

I wanted to use up some of that mocha orange biscotti tea but couldnt handle the intense flavour. Mixing it with this worked out ok. I think it needs something with more malt.
I’m not terribly impressed.
The pekoe tea alone is thin but it was the only straight black tea I had at work. It got me the caffeine I needed in the end :)

Tomorrow Mum is having surgery. I’ll be at the hospital all day. Nothing too risky, it is lapriscopic and they have an almost 100% success rate. Still. I worry. Don’t ever damage your kidneys. Seriously.
What teas should I take…

Nattie

My uncle just had similar surgery and it went very well. I know it’s useless saying ’don’t worry’ but… don’t worry! When he got to the hospital my uncle’s nurse told him that the most dangerous part was over (driving to the hospital). I hope all goes well for her.

TheKesser

Hope all goes well! Surgery is always nerve wracking but that’s really great to hear how high the success rate is! I’m sure it’ll be okay!
My 2 year old has to have hip surgery and in a cast for 6-8weeks soon. Same thing, very high success rate, but I’m still worried and upset about it… I just keep saying to myself, “just keep swimming” or “just keep breathing” (Sang in Dory’s voice of course. haha)

gmathis

I have a little poster in my office with a teacup and the initials KPO. Keep Plodding On. Some days, that’s tougher than others, isn’t it? Indigo & Kesser, praying for peace and confidence for both of you!

Indigobloom

Nattie – I mentioned that anecdote to Mum and she laughed. It made her feel better, so thank you for that!! Surgery went well

Indigobloom

@thekesser things turned out great. She’s a little crusty in mood lol. Sending positive vibes for your son. That must be so stressful. HUGS!!

Indigobloom

@gmathis yup it really is. Today was rough. But I got through it :)
Thank you for kind words xo

drank Hot & Unbothered by 52teas

The smell of the dry leaf really puts me off. But the actual brew is amazing and leaves me wanting my cup to refill itself immediately. It is almost sipdown time but I eventually hope to grab more.

drank Icewine Tea by Heart Industries
1759 tasting notes

I bought this for a friend’s bday. She loved it! and her two kids are now into it as well. So glad I decided to take a chance that it was as I remember. And I am thinking of grabbing more if I find it again, either for myself or as gifts :)
This one grows on you. First sip is very meh. A few sips in it starts to quench thirst, and by the end of the cup you really want some more. The mouthfeel really builds in your mouth and has a serious essence of wine going on.
Oh and I tried it mixed with a Pinot Grigio, that was tasty as well. If I grab some for myself, I might make some Tea-gria. What kind of fruit would go best I wonder…

drank Tazo Chai by Tazo

I made a dirty chai tea (not a latte, just milk. and coffee not espresso).
Damn. SO GOOD. This is my boyfriend’s ex’s stock, and there are only a handful of bags left. I’ll have to try it again with my other chai varieties at home. Noms.

I had one infusion and then the boyfriend accidentally spilled the leaves in soapy water.
Me. not. happy.
The cup wasn’t as tasty as last time, although that could be due to skimping on the leaf, or maybe the water filter needs changing. I so wanted that second infusion to find out more. Ah well
On the plus sign it is now weekend and tomorrow I’m visiting a friend for her bday. She has a hot tub. Plus I had a heart to heart with a friend that I’ve been in flux with the last while. Over text, so not ideal. but I’m hopeful we can fix things.
Anyhow. I’m quite tired and rambly. and emotional. Happy Friday :)

Profile

Bio

Let’s see… I’m a tea and workout fanatic, I work in HR, and most of my friends consider me to be an egg. White on the outside, Asian on the inside :)
-from philosophy to food, I love it all
Otherwise, what you see is what you get! I can be very straightforward and yet shy.

Also, I’ve started taking tea sommelier classes and it is an absolute blast! Well, so far I’ve only finished the first out of eight courses, but I am really looking forward to the next one.

Anyhow, if your curious as to how I rate things, this is how I work…

0-25
Like eating dirt, or some other unsanitary indelicacy that mentioning in my profile here would likely get me banned.
I don’t think I’ve found cause to banish a tea to the wasteland yet though so who knows what it’d inspire ;P

25-50
You know that expression “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater”? I imagine drinking that water would be terrible enough to warrant this rating!
I’d never make my enemy drink this, but perhaps I’d throw it at them. Good thing I don’t have any enemies!

50-70
This is “tea”?? I tried finishing the cup… but my body rejected it. There may be others who enjoy this tea, but it’s beyond me!

70-80
I tried liking it, and I can almost get there! I certainly don’t hate it, but something is holding me back. Allergies? Men in white suits? who knows… certainly not me!

80-90
Lovely tea! Not my all time fave but close. I likely wouldn’t repurchase, but may decide to based on many factors: price, accessibility, whether it fills a “tea gap”, medicinal applications, and how often I crave it.
Every once in awhile I find the sweet spot that bumps these up to 90+. Those are the days I need to buy a lotto ticket!

90-95
Sweet Camellia! this is realllly good tea! Don’t talk to me until I’ve finished my cup…

95-100
Tea of the gods. I would do anything to get my hands on more of this liquid gold!
