1759 Tasting Notes
Well the first few sips of this were nice. True raspberry complemented by a nice white base and something a bit cakey. But as it cooled, a strange mustyness took over and I really didn’t like that. Nope, not at all. I won’t say it was terrible, but it went from pretty decent to pretty meh very quickly. Oh, also? I didn’t like how sweet it was. Almost syrupy.
Yeah, I’d have this again, if it was offered to me. But I definitely won’t buy it unless there is a specific reason like infusing it into alcohol. Heyyyyy maybe I’ll use up the last of it that way :P
As well, I’m annoyed that I asked for 10 grams, the girl at the counter gave me 14, claiming that any less wouldn’t give me a full serving. Well I had a massive mug, two cups worth, and I’ve still got enough for another of the same? Using my measuring spoon, that I purchased from DT. What gives????
Hmmm, I dunno. Very lemony. Not much if any honey. Potent!! and rather tart.
Reminds me of a lemon cough drop or syrup. It would be great when I’m sick. I wonder how it would fare iced. Oh and mum hated it.
This was given to me as a gift by my neighbour. Atleast it came with a tin that I can reuse. Might end up being one of those teas I crave randomly, to fill my lemonade-ish needs.
Today, I’ve got a nasty tension headache. It seems to be the season as everyone I know is getting them. Or maybe it’s contagious and I’m the common thread. ha. Tylenol isn’t helping at all. But the weather network tells me it isn’t related as it is “beneficial” or neutral weather for headaches. Ugh. They lie.
Hubby and I are both having headaches that are lasting several days. I assumed it was grass pollen of the fall variety. He never gets headaches that last a long time like this, and you are right, Tylenol isn’t doing a thing for us. Hope you feel better soon!
So I bought this for the qi. And it does give a nice little high! not overly strong, so it could be great for work. Puts me right in the mood to get stuff done :)
This sat at work, forgotten about for far too long so I’ve got tons left.
I need to remember to keep my steep times short though, as I’m not a big fan of the thicker liquor in this one.
My secons infusion today is nicer than the first. Cocoa and mushroom, a bit earthy. Very nice. Definitely soupy. Reminds me slightly of chaga, in a nice way. I’m not a fan of chaga as it has a bite to it that doesn’t sit well, but this is just… nice. and soothing. Like a balm for cold days coming.
There’s an astringent aspect there that I didn’t expect, and a bit of mineral goodness too.
Thing is though, I need to be in the mood for drinking a pu, but when I’m craving it, well it SO hits the spot. Glad I indulged today, even though I’m at the boyfriend’s and all he has is tap water. Maybe I’ll keep it here, since it stands up to iffy water. Ok probably not. Maybe one day…
Wow. So accurate to actual rocky road tea, esp with some milk. I tried the first infusion sans dairy. It came out very smooth and lighter than I expected, with a dominant sunflower taste. Chocolate was sadly secondary, but then it usually is in rocky road icecream…
Second infusion I let go for ages, distracted by my boyfriend’s silly antics. Surprisingly, it didn’t turn out bitter at all. But I wanted to try it with milk so I added a splash. Honestly, if I froze this and made it into a slushie, it’d be an RR slush :P
Half my sample is left over, I’ll be sad!
I didn’t feel strongly about this tea either way. There was something a little off but not enough to make me hate it. The ginger and grapefruit is nice. But… I must have had extra beetroot or something. Meh.
So annoying when beets ruin a good thing in tea. Ginger and grapefruit? That’s awesome potential right there.
Right? I don’t actually hate beets in ALL teas, but sometimes it just doesn’t fit in and when it doesn’t… ugh, gross
Did the beetroot here taste really earthy and off itself or was it sweeter but just didn’t fit in?
BTW, I finally found that deluxe skincare sample I was looking for! Took this long haha. You win by a long shot.
Just the perfect amount of floral today, in the first few infusions. Seriously. Really needed that.
And I finally noticed that same roastiness from the High Mountain tea version, in this one. Funny, my last cup didn’t have it at all.
Later steeps have a much more complex nature to it. Less floral and more mineral and apricot. Also getting what they mean about sugar cookies. There is a sweetness in all the infusions that hangs out through the whole sip. Oh and a lovely tartness, like plums just before they ripen. Yum.
Made it to the seventh one (long steeping the final one now) and it has a bit of a stale note. I guess I’m wringing out those leaves pretty good!
Heh. My tongue is burning in a pleasant way, but methinks that may be from the stir fry I had with dinner. We added a lot of garlic :D
Sipdown!!
Could have sworn I’ve reviewed this before?! Odd.
Anyhow, I enjoy this tea… some cups were a lot better than others. This last cuppa was best out of them all. The taste is ok, but the mouthfeel is most pleasing. All sunshiney and happy. I think it was the mint. The first and second steeps were great, but the third started to fall flat on me.
Oh! And it reminds me a lot of AQ2T’s On Wisconsin Jade Oolong in the added flavouring (which I may pass on to another tea drinker, as I have another creamy oolong or two that I enjoy more)
I’m not exactly sad to see this one go, in the end. There are other Butiki teas I’ve mourned the ending of a lot more :P
