Wow. I must have hit the perfect balance of leaf vs water and infusion time.
No added sugar and this was so perfect. I even got the good tea feels! from a decaf.
Light on the leaf is key here!! bumpity bump goes the rating

Welp. Mine doesn’t say “slim” on it. A friend gave me a box, from Hawaii.
My first cup today was meh, but I used a lot more water than I should have.
Very soft and bland. Cotton candy meets socks. It might do well cold brewed?

gmathis

Thanks for the much-needed giggle! (Cotton candy socks—doesn’t it just make your toes feel sticky? :)

Evol Ving Ness

Perfect description! I don’t know the tea, but I can just imagine.

Fjellrev

Yikes, hope the sock aspect doesn’t show up in the cold brew if you take that route.

Indigobloom

Gmathis, hah. Not quite. Almost wish it did :P I always thought goji berries had a strange taste so I can see how the cottony note would come out in a tea

Indigobloom

@Evol – aww thank you. You’re sweet!! like cotton candy. (and definitely not socks :P)

Indigobloom

@Fjellrev, yeah I’m a little hesitant to try! my box is at work, and I haven’t got anything to cold brew overnight in so it might not happen. But it can’t hurt to try!

drank Vanilla Matcha by DAVIDsTEA

I did not want to like this one. It’s quite nice and soft tasting. The vanilla is creamy and just works for me. Ugh. I need to buy more…

I wish I could recall more about this tea. It was warm. Toasty. Tasty. Not too strong. It kept me warm.
Third infusion was the best. (so steeps 3, 1 and then 2)
Also? I attended a macaron making demo. Thats some complicated stuff.
Oh and I ate gold. Errr gold dusted macarons. With Cola filling.

And for some reason I can’t stop thinking about this song. My first pairing? Nothing to do with orientation or anything. I’m just darn cold. If you keep me warm I don’t care who you kiss lol (err well actually I do, just no the bits underneath. sucker for love stories here!)

I’m kinda sad my students didn’t win the case competition. Apparently they did a great job. I know nothing of finance so can’t comment. Except to say that I would like to buy some futures in macarons.

Ok I’m rambling. Time for bed.

drank Wild Sweet Orange by Tazo
1759 tasting notes

My last tea of the day. Taken with dinner at our office event.
Very tangy. But after the super sour lemonade mocktails they made for us, I didn’t notice much.
Everyone hates on this tea. I don’t love it or anything, but it was far from the worst option available to me at the time, and I was grateful for it!!
Also, I have a soft spot for orange candies. Especially tart ones

Kirkoneill1988

i dont think ill like it. it has hibiscus

Indigobloom

I don’t mind it in this blend. It has a lemonade sort of feel to it.

drank Caramel Popcorn by T by Daniel
1759 tasting notes

Hot, this does really well in a travel mug! I had it in a regular mug awhile back and it was just ok.
No need to add sugar. I wanted to experiment and with a dollop of milk it just gets more buttery. Damn. If the remaining cups are like this I may consider grabbing more one day

Also today was a very long day. I was in the office before 7am. We had a work event. But because there was maybe a third of the people around, the place was cold. I spent most of my day drinking coffee and tea in a lame attempt to stay warm. It didn’t work very well. I’m still cold. Brrrr.

Anyhow. I’m feeling pretty antisocial. The introvert in me is hissing at everyone for no reason

Evol Ving Ness

I’ve been cold for close to 24 hours now. My feet are like ice despite the heat on high and being covered by a throw.

Indigobloom

yup. I’m still cold. Under two blankets and warm jammies. Getting there…

drank Smokey Tea Rub by 3 Teas
1759 tasting notes

I bought this at the 2016 tea festival. Since then, I’ve cooked maybe half a dozen dishes with it. Mostly chicken. The stuff is potent! Only a third of the tin has been used up. Amazing value!! Mind you it doesn’t need much. Half a teaspoon is more than enough for a typical dish. I use it to accent, not as a main attraction :P
When I run out, I hope to buy the lemon green version (already bought it but gave it away as a gift! I’m not sure if they tried it out yet, but it smells heavenly).
The best part? Very little salt!! So if you want more salt, simply add it yourself. Seriously. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that aspect. Far too many rubs out there are salt heavy. That factor alone is why I hadn’t bought any rubs previously.

Today I made vegetable soup, and despite some people not liking smoked tea (or smoked anything) it was a big hit. I had a feeling it would pair really well with a beef base. I marinated the sauce in olive oil on my stove for a few… sauteed a bunch of veggies in the saucepan, and then added water/the base. Will be trying it again with a cream based soup of some kind. Also paired super well with the onions so I may make an onion sauce one of these days. Oh and I sprinkled in some chili flakes. Perfection.
I’m not a fan of stringy meat, but if you enjoy roast beef or brisket, I’m sure it would go really well that way!
And yes. Pulled pork is my nightmare haha

Sil

nice

Evol Ving Ness

Sounds delicious. I wonder how I managed to miss the 3 Teas booth. Next year I need to go for both the days again so this type of error is not repeated. :)

I was reading up on 3 Teas yesterday and apparently the owner is/was a nurse who had been quite alarmed at how poor lifestyle choices led to many severe health issues in many of patients she had worked with. A trip to China and a bit of exposure to different styles of living led to further insights which eventually led to the creation of 3 Teas. I would think that has something to do with the minimal salt content.

Indigobloom

@Sil – think it’d work in a puerh? :P

Indigobloom

@Evol Yes and she is so sweet as well. One of my fave people at the tea fest! I’ve tried four of her tea products, all great. Even the one with lavender in it lol

Indigobloom

I bet you two could have some fun chats about China :)

drank Lapsang Souchong Tea by 3 Teas
1759 tasting notes

I’m drinking the last of three infusions now.
This is pretty good! A little sweeter than I was hoping for. Super sweet really. Somewhere between molasses and sugarcane. I’ve seen this type of sugary note before in Lapsang, although this is the strongest I’ve seen yet. Maybe I’ll try making some kind of dessert with it someday. Or whiskey cocktail.
Today… I wanted a more robust tea, since I bought it with the idea of mixing it with the pine tea I bought from Algonquin teas. Trying it solo first so that I can see what flavours come from where.
Not much change from one cup to the next, other than getting a bit lighter.
Second infusion I accidentally left for quite some time, and it didn’t get bitter at all. That was a bonus :)

drank Tri-Dosha by La Vie Claire
1759 tasting notes

I can only assume this is what I drank. The brand is there on the tag, and “dosha” but no “tri”.
It tasted like a mate with some spices. Having been in my cupboard for quite some time, I’d assume that the flavours are faded. Hot, I smelled cinnamon, which I don’t believe is an ingredient. Something peppery as well, which could have been the rosehips (they get peppery in old age, I think)
Thank you for the sample MissB :)

gmathis

Peppery. I believe that’s how I will describe myself as I get older and more crotchety! (Adjective of the Day Award goes to you! :)

Evol Ving Ness

^That. Not far to go now.

Indigobloom

LOL @gmathis I am feeling kinda peppery today to be honest. My bones creak! it’s cold out there.

Indigobloom

@Evol I have a few gray hairs. Scary stuff

gmathis

Yeah, you just wait until you start sprouting grey goat hair on your chin :) Then you panic.

Today has been hell. Seriously.
My nerves are a pile of dust now.
If you’re ever unemployed, and a friend offers to hook you up with a job that would involve working with them in any capacity… don’t take it. Just don’t.
So yeah. This tea? It was needed today. Badly.

Plunkybug

Oh no! Sorry today was bad. It was bad for me too, but in a different way. Hugs to you, dear indigobloom!

gmathis

Sorry for the stress! Hope the outlook improves.

Indigobloom

@plunkybug, to be honest, it’s been a few weeks now. Up and down but a lot of down. I hear there is some sort of astronomical thing messing with our lives. Not sure I believe, but these things tend to line up more often than they should for mere coincidence. Sorry to hear you had a bad day as well!

Indigobloom

@gmathis. Thank you! I got some good news the other day (three month contract extension) so I am keeping my fingers crossed :)

Rosehips

So sorry things are stressful. Drink lots of tea!

Indigobloom

Thankyou @Rosehips!
things should get better in April. I hope

Profile

Bio

Let’s see… I’m a tea and workout fanatic, I work in HR, and most of my friends consider me to be an egg. White on the outside, Asian on the inside :)
-from philosophy to food, I love it all
Otherwise, what you see is what you get! I can be very straightforward and yet shy.

Also, I’ve started taking tea sommelier classes and it is an absolute blast! Well, so far I’ve only finished the first out of eight courses, but I am really looking forward to the next one.

Anyhow, if your curious as to how I rate things, this is how I work…

0-25
Like eating dirt, or some other unsanitary indelicacy that mentioning in my profile here would likely get me banned.
I don’t think I’ve found cause to banish a tea to the wasteland yet though so who knows what it’d inspire ;P

25-50
You know that expression “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater”? I imagine drinking that water would be terrible enough to warrant this rating!
I’d never make my enemy drink this, but perhaps I’d throw it at them. Good thing I don’t have any enemies!

50-70
This is “tea”?? I tried finishing the cup… but my body rejected it. There may be others who enjoy this tea, but it’s beyond me!

70-80
I tried liking it, and I can almost get there! I certainly don’t hate it, but something is holding me back. Allergies? Men in white suits? who knows… certainly not me!

80-90
Lovely tea! Not my all time fave but close. I likely wouldn’t repurchase, but may decide to based on many factors: price, accessibility, whether it fills a “tea gap”, medicinal applications, and how often I crave it.
Every once in awhile I find the sweet spot that bumps these up to 90+. Those are the days I need to buy a lotto ticket!

90-95
Sweet Camellia! this is realllly good tea! Don’t talk to me until I’ve finished my cup…

95-100
Tea of the gods. I would do anything to get my hands on more of this liquid gold!
