drank Strawberry Fields by Teaopia

I have been using my kids iced tea tumbler from DAVIDs lately (well, since I got it Monday), taking it to work with me with stuff from home and just filling it with water when it’s out, but today I decided to get more iced tea, and I went to Teaopia with it (no DAVIDs in the mall I work at). I knew that I was going for an iced tea (I don’t think the tumblers do hot, do they??) which means that my palate changes a little. I’m a little more open to herbals and fruit teas and teas with hibiscus as I can handle a little tart iced, just not hot. Though not super tart. And some of my favourite hot teas don’t necessarily work out well iced. Of course some are great both ways.

Anyhow, I told Danielle (I think that’s her name) that I wanted an iced tea, and I had been thinking of maybe Coconut Cream or Love Spell, but she brought over Strawberry Fields, and a few others, but Strawberry Fields won, hands down. So even though it has some hibiscus, it’s not terribly dominant, and I thought it was ok if it was iced.

And it was. AND, yet again, I took this one unsweetened! What is happening to me?! :P Probably for the better I’m taking more of my teas unsweetened, though I’m sure I will still be having some sweetened. Might it be better with a touch of agave/honey/sugar, etc? Probably. But I’m cool with it as is for now I think. The only thing I will say is that it was not terribly strong, and as the ice melted, it watered down pretty fast, and tasted like a slightly sweet and fruity water, like a spa water or something.

This is something I’ll definitely look into getting for the summer.

I generally like a lot of tea. I do find I have a preference for flavored over unflavoured, but I do love a good straight tea as well.

Likes are too hard, since there are a lot. Dislikes are easier, so here they are…

Hibiscus. Blech. I can tolerate a little, depending on the brew, like Berry Good from Davids and Ruby Pie from Butiki…but in general, it’s too tart and too strong for me.

Licorice. Anything that remotely resembles licorice is out too, so that includes fennel and anise. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

Florals. I’m cool with petals in the tea to make them look pretty (except rose), and I’m cool with teas like oolongs having a floral note, but strong florals can give me migraines. Rose and jasmine are the biggest offenders. This is one where it can vary on the blend, as I can handle Teavivre’s Peach Jasmine Dragon Pearl tea because there is very little jasmine actually detectable in it.

Rooibos is hit or miss. I can do some, but not others. I handle green better than red, and honeybush better than rooibos.

My ratings don’t have a particular scale or method, and may on occasion contradict themselves, but I’m honestly not fussed about that. Sometimes I don’t even rate at all.

Um, I have an extensive wishlist. It is both a list of things I want to get again, and things I want to try. If you are sending me something, and you want to know which is which, I’ll tell you via PM.

Yes, I do trades…usually on request though. See something you want to try in my cupboard? Just shoot me a message and I’ll see what I can do!

Uh, guess that’s it.
