200 Tasting Notes

This has a nice clean taste, as most organic teas have. But it’s nothing special, as you’d expect from such dusty tea (from Tesco)

drank Fine Formosa Oolong by Aurora

Darker and cloudier than the other oolongs I have had recently. The leaves are smaller too, and it’s generally less satisfying. A little earthier too, but very pleasant for my saturday afternoon and as with all oolong, the second cup is better than the first

My colleague loves this tea, and I’m still impressed with it. Must explore the other teas Birt and Tang sell

Yes, I had this at work today as well. 2 cups, no milk, kept my energy levels up

drank Darjeeling by Twinings

Not a very exciting day of tea today. This is not brilliant, but the best I could come up with. I am still hoping to find a black tea that doesn’t need milk and comes in tea bags, because it makes it easier to take into work. Posh teabags are expensive butat some point I will have to try them

It’s standard, but it’s what they have at work and it’s one of the better of the mainstream black teas in my opinion. Not great with the UHT milk they also have at work…

Slightly lighter and sweeter than the Grand Pouchong I had yesterday. But then I let the water cool slightly from boiling and that may have softened the flavour. Enjoying a pot of this :-)

Unusually, I had this with milk so that my colleague would try it. I managed to show him that there really is a difference between this and Darjeeling, which he didn’t believe beforehand

The Pu-erh in this is subtle but makes it a little more than just a herbal blend. Needs brewing for 5-7 minutes.

I always find Oolong satisfying because I don’t enjoy the first sip, but by half way through the cup I love it. I had a three cup pot

Bio

I moved from the UK to Australia in 2015. I’ve had a fascination with tea since university, and like to try lots of different types. My preference is for real tea over other infusions: green tea, oolong and black, including flavoured varieties. I love encouraging people to try new teas. I also play the trombone.
Ratings:
>90: Some of the best I’ve had so far.
80-90: I love this tea, likely to buy again
70-80: Good tea. Most tea in my cupboard is in this category because it’s fine to drink it all day!
50-70: I’d drink it if it was offered to me, and I’ll drink what’s in the cupboard, but I’m unlikely to buy it again.
<50: Glad I tried it, but it’s not very nice.
