1792 tasting notes

This is one of the teas I picked up during the weekend sale. I dumped all 16g into my 2 litre jug and let it cold steep overnight.

And my, did it EVER get strong overnight. The liquor was a dark melon pink. The first few glasses were way too sweet for me. I could pick out the mango but the rest was sugar, sugar, sugar. So after I got about 1/2 way through the jug, I added more water to dilute it, and then a bit more after a couple more cups.

After the third dilution, it’s much better. The liquor is a lighter melon pink and I can now taste the apples along with the mango. The hibiscus is barely noticeable. Maybe it adds a touch of needed tartness to this but it isn’t over-the-top.

Oh yeah, and I’ve actually never had guava before (haven’t been able to find it anywhere!), and don’t taste anything out of the ordinary in here, so I don’t know what to make of that. Overall, it’s decent, but there is absolutely nothing special about this tisane, and even after the dilution, it’s too sweet to the point that it dulls the true flavours of the fruits.

EDIT: Well, what do you know. When I toddled down the hill to the nearby market, I found guava! Guess I kept missing it. To me, it tastes like a combination of passionfruit and mango, so in other words, scrumptious. Those seeds are so annoying though. In any case, from what I recall, I didn’t get any guava flavour from this. The mango I was detecting was clearly from the actual mango. Oh well. Now I can say I’ve had it! And I also have a pineapple guava waiting for me too…

Guava is like strawberry-banana. SO delicious.

Wow! Here I was imaging something closer to papaya. Were you able to find fresh guava in any markets around your area?

I definitely didn’t get anything remotely close to strawberry banana in this blend.

Yeah, I first had guava when I was in BC, from a market, but I can get it here in Ontario as well. It’s very deliciously fragrant and the first time I had it, I definitely described it as strawberry banana (and then read that other people also described it as such!)

I just picked up some Guava Cadabra today, so I’ll see how it tastes to me. Didn’t smell like guava in the tin…

I’m curious to see your review now that I actually tried guava! I swear I didn’t get that flavour from it.
