166 Tasting Notes
I adore a good jasmine tea, and am very pleased with this one with its smooth, mellow flavor. My favorite time to enjoy it is in the evening, especially since white teas are lower in caffeine. I add a little stevia, but I do that with all teas. For me, it holds up to 3 steepings (Western Style).-maybe 4. One of my favorites and would order again.
Preparation
I’ve never tried a Lapsang Souchong until this one that came as part of the black tea sampler I purchased. Since the description said smoky, I assumed it would not be “my cup of tea” but was pleasantly surprised at how the smoky flavor was just right, not overwhelming the tea flavor. It is a subtle and smooth cup of tea. It would probably never be an everyday cup for me, but that’s a matter of personal taste, not quality. I can envision when cooler weather arrives in the fall, that this would be a very enjoyable cup to savor.
Preparation
I ordered this sample along with several other teas from Teavivre. My husband and I decided to try it tonight and were glad we did. It was deliciously sweet, fragrant, and smooth just as advertised. We got three flavorful steeps. Loved this tea and recommend it to anyone who appreciates a good jasmine tea.
Preparation
I have never tried a Genmaicha Matcha before. I brewed this at 160 for 1 min. as recommended on package, not at 212 which was on their website instructions. It was a very pleasant cup of tea with a beautiful vivid green color. The toasted rice added something extra that I really enjoyed. I found that if I steeped at 175, it seemed a little bitter, so I will stick with 160. Would definitely order again.
Preparation
Until I discovered loose tea, I never particularly liked black tea, finding it bitter and too astringent. I have probably tried 50 loose teas in the last couple years, and finally decided to give black tea another try. Thanks to Teavivre, I got a generous sample of their Bailin Gongfu and I just love it! I have tried only about 5 unflavored blacks from a few different companies, but this is my favorite. I steep it for 2 min. at 185, and add 15 seconds for each additional steeping. I got a total of 3 good steepings, but didn’t try for a 4th. To me, it is perfection, without any bitterness or astringency to spoil it, so I’m getting ready to re-order it.
