How did you choose your username?

Just for fun. I’ve read some interesting names, as well as ones that are probably cultural references of some sort that I just don’t know anything about. I’m curious as to how you chose yours.

I picked keychange because I sing, and I think keychanges in music can be dramatic and effective, and I also like that keychange can have more than one meaning: the important change that has taken place; petty cash you have on hand (for tea, obv), etc.

Your turn!

Morgana is a long time handle of mine. I first used it when I played turn based single player CRPGs in the 80s and 90s when I had the option to name characters. When I logged on to the CompuServe Gamers’ forum for the first time in the early 90s, I had to pick a user name and I went with Morgana. I became a sysop there eventually and it sort of became a second identity. I wrote computer game reviews and walkthrus under that name as well. It’s always been my first choice of a nickname online, though sometimes it’s already taken and I have to choose something else or change it up some. My recollection is that Morgana was already taken on Steepster when I joined so I tried to add some asterisks in front and back, but for whatever reason I couldn’t, so I used underlines on either side instead.

Airport code. I like to travel and worked in related industries for a while.

Ahhh. I had wondered about yours. I haven’t flown into Toronto so I still had to google it. ;-)

Unfortunately, not nice enough – I’ve been coveting those shirts since they started making them, and the ‘cotton-poly blend’ is, very deceptively, a 50% polyester, 25% cotton, 25% rayon. Just urgh.

Haha I always thought it was the airport code. Glad to know I was right.

Dang, this whole time I thought it was a Rush song.. :(

Its my alter ego.

I love your new avatar. You must have a thing for colorful eyes.

Ha ha thanks! I also love my new avatar – who doesn’t love the Cheshire cat, even when he is creepy? :P It all started because I do have blue eyes and my initial name on steepster was LalaTwoBlueEyes, then I shortened it up. I figured after a long time of the old avatar, it was time to change.

Mine is rather simple: I love cats and I love tea. My nickname is crazy cat lady so I shortened that to Kitty, though I asked my cats if they would accept me as an honorary feline and they seemed fine with it, so Kitty was born and this Kitty loves tea.

Hahaha I like the description, so true…it even mentions the wild look in my eyes :D

I imagined you had a thing for cats…. Or like my mom, your name was Kitty. :)

My mom is terribly allergic to the poor critters, which she passed down to myself and my son :(

The thread is so interesting but my story is going to be boring :D

Kat is the abbreviation of my first name – Katarzyna – Polish for Katherine. I left it like that for a while but then, when I was serious about starting contributing tasting notes and participating in discussions I decided to tweak it a little since there was at least one other Kat around already. So I added my middle name onto it – Maria.

Katarzyna is a beautiful name!

Mine is also pretty simple… first name Carol and I really like Doctor Who. Also sort of a mysterious second meaning if you add a question mark. Carol who?

LOL love it. It also reminds me of a speculative fiction author whose work I really love, Leslie What (not her original name).

Part of a phrase off a Devin Townsend/ Strapping Young Lad song. Heard it when that album came out, actually, I attended the release signing in 2005. Thought it fit me as I have weird awkward interests of metal music, knitting and cute things which all don’t go together.

Haha, yes, I never would have thought of metal music and knitting going together but I like it!

Oh, I like that! :)

Ha ha! Looking at this five years later it makes no sense at all since you have changed your username! I was puzzled for a few minutes and then realized what had happened and remembered your old name!
