Recommendation for flavored Chamomile teas?

Do you have a flavored chamomile tea that you like, particularly iced? I’ve been exploring herbal teas as iced tea, and the one I liked the most (by Lipton, oddly enough) had a strong chamomile component. I originally thought it was the rose hips in the tea that I liked but didn’t figure that out until I tried iced chamomile by itself.

I’m ordering Tiesta’s Mango Dreamzzz and Davidson’s Chamomile and Fruit, but wondered if people had any other suggestions. I’m most interested in ones that are on the lower priced end. I can justify spending more money per pound on green tea that gets multiple infusions, but that’s harder to justify spending much money on a chamomile-based tea when I can buy chamomile by itself for $10/pound.

Celestial Seasonings Country Peach Passion! One of my favorite iced teas for sure.

(Full disclosure that I work at DAVIDsTEA so I have some bias…)

As someone who personally hates the taste of chamomile – the best tea I’ve ever had with chamomile, that’s still sold, was probably Valerian Nights from DAVIDsTEA. It’s not really just chamomile, but more a mix of chamomile, valerian root, rooibos, and coconut among other things. Tastes very sweet and creamy. It may not be exactly what you’re hunting for, but it was the first one that popped into my head.

Regardless, I hope you find a winner!

I can’t really recommend this tea because it’s seasonal so you would have to wait for Christmas to roll around again, but Murchie’s Chamomile Apple. It’s chamomile, apple pieces and flavouring (and a bit of cinnamon I think, but not at all overpowering). Only ever had it hot, and I’m normally someone who dislikes chamomile too, but I had to stock up on it because it ended up just being a very pleasant alternative to late-night caffeine.

It looks like there are a few other companies with the same blend, so I’d keep an eye out. Probably uses the same wholesaler.

I like Stash Chamomile Nights (lotus flavoured spearmint and chamomile blend) and David’s Tea Valerian Nights (tropical fruit and coconut blend with Valerian root and chamomile)

Rishi Chamomile Medley. It’s blended with lemongrass, mint, and lemon verbena which accents the chamomile nicely and adds some sweetness.

And the Mango Dreamzzz tastes nothing like chamomile or mango. Very disappointed. Stale hay is the main flavor to me. But I think I’m turning out to have picky and weird preferences with tea as much as I have picky and weird preferences with food.

Damn – sorry to hear that you struck out. Personally, chamomile always tastes terrible to me; but I’m actually kind of surprised it didn’t taste like mango either!

I’m one of those people that has a palate that can’t handle chamomile either; I don’t know how to describle it other than it leaves a “soapy” sort of taste in my mouth.

That is interesting that you like iced chamomile. I have never tried that. I guess it just sounded to me like something I wouldn’t like, but maybe I should try it…

I have yet to find a chamomile that I really love. Samovar’s Chamomile Twist is good but expensive. It has lemon myrtle, lemongrass, and spearmint with the chamomile, and Samovar’s chamomile generally tastes better to me than others (not like stale hay). Harney’s Yellow and Blue has chamomile and lavender and it’s ok.

That makes me think of For Tea’s Sake’s chamomile blend – which is lemon, chamomile, lavender. Very lemon/lavender tasting: I’m blanking on the name though.

I’m not a big chamomile fan but I do drink it on occasion. The blend that has stood out the most to me is Organic Chamomile with Lavender by Traditional Medicinals. It can be found at most health food stores and some larger US supermarket chains. I don’t care for it much hot but it makes a wonderful cold brew.

Chamomile is one of the oldest herbs still very popular around the world today. It was first used by the ancient Egyptian as medicine. Chamomile is often sipped for relief of ailments ranging from toothache to insomnia. The chamomile infusion has a floral aroma and fruity apple taste. You can add lemon and Chinese Wolfberry and the taste will be better. Since it is caffeine free, it can be enjoy during any time of the day.

I consider this type of herbal tea to be curative. That is, I wouldn’t recommend drinking it every day, even if you like the taste. For example, I brew chamomile tea for a light cold or for better concentration when I play top slots. It definitely has a good effect. By the way, why do some people like to mix green tea and chamomile? It’s completely two different tastes.
