I will also recommend that you don’t get rid of the stuff you don’t like quite yet. Give it about 6 to 12 months, and then try it again to see how your tastes may have changed over time. If you still don’t like it, then you’ll find a lot of people willing to take it off your hands either here, or over in https://www.reddit.com/r/teaexchange/

So I’ve now finished almost all of the samples I had and my conclusion is that while the taste of young sheng has grown on me, it’s definitely not my favourite type of tea.

I’m still curious though whether I would like aged sheng, especially since I do like shou pu-erh. Would it be a good idea to try some tea from the early 2000s (like this one https://yunnansourcing.com/collections/aged-raw-pu-erh-tea/products/2002-yong-pin-hao-red-yi-wu-zheng-shan-raw-pu-erh-tea-from-yi-wu?variant=35214340742), or will that still not be old enough to be considered ‘aged’. Or should I try some wet-stored pu-erh, like this sampler set https://yunnansourcing.com/products/guangdong-aged-raw-pu-erh-tea-sampler?

sounds like wet stored or new processing way made sheng pu-erhs would be a last option for you to try.

Some people prefer spicy and stimulating flavors, while others are drawn to sweet flavors. Still others do not enjoy either of these flavors but instead prefer mild and gentle tastes. Puerh provides many different types of flavors, and different people may be drawn to different teas. Those who enjoy dry stored teas may not prefer teas stored in humid conditions, and vice-versa. Some people may not enjoy either of them. Consequently, it is important to know your own flavor preferences when buying tea.
Puerh tea is somewhat complex, however, and understanding your tastes may not be sufficient. Because the flavor changes as tea ages, it is important to predict how a tea will age. To a certain extent it is also important to predict how your own tastes will change over time. Even though the quality of the tea may improve over time, you may discover after several years that you no longer like a tea that you set aside to age ten or more years ago.
