In-pot infuser: use it or not?

I have a 12 oz ceramic tea pot that came with a stainless steel mesh infuser (or perhaps it’s called a brew basket) measuring about 2" D x 2.25" H.
However, I’ve always put the tea straight into the warmed pot, and poured it out through the infuser and into the cup—my theory being that this gives the leaves more room to expand and steep. The negative here, of course, is that the leaves can sometimes clog the spout, so that I have to poke them down with a chopstick.
Am I overthinking this? I.e., should I just use the infuser inside the teapot?

I think the way you do is ok. Sometimes I am afraid that the stainless steel will damage the falvor. Just keep what you do now.
