Tea tray care

Hi there!
I’am asking for suggestion. How should I behave in relation to my bamboo tray not to make it go rotten (well knowing that it’s waterproof treated anyway)? Shall I clean it from tea liquid every time I make use of it? Wash it maybe with water or am I overthinking?
Thank you for reading btw!

Wash it after each running out and dry in the sun, give it a regular oil protection.

Is there a specific oil you use?

I use mineral oil, which in the US you can find in the grocery or drug store. It is neutral in taste and smell, and will not go rancid on you. I rinse and dry my tea table daily, and I wipe apply a small amount of mineral oil with a soft cloth once a month. I have heard of some people using walnut oil. I would not use cooking oil, though, as it will likely go rancid.

You can cook with walnut oil and it is perishable.
I have a wenge wood tea tray, it’s had heavy use for a year and I haven’t oiled it. The top turned whiteish & faded look, but it doesn’t really bother me and gives it an “older” aesthetic.
