- Finish up my old teas
- Swap/give away tea that I don’t like
- Not purchase more tea than I can consume in a realistic time frame

1) Update my spreadsheet and organize my stash
2) Drink down or re-home old teas/teas I don’t like
3) Slow my roll with the flavoured teas…I absolutely love the idea of them, but the reality is that they’re really hit or miss with me and often times I’d just rather drink something unflavoured. I’m not strong enough to completely resist buying altogether but…definitely aiming for less overall.
4) Spend less than I did in 2015…part of the reason my 2015 spending was so off the charts is that I made a couple big purchases and stocked up on some teaware I’d been meaning to buy for a while (teeny clay pot!!!…amongst other things) and the terrible exchange rate didn’t help…anyway 2015 is going to have a stricter budget
5) Trying more Japanese teas. They aren’t my favourites, but they are my mom’s, so I want to be able to add a few more to my stash so I have stuff to make for her.
6) Maybe look into trying my hand at some crock storage experiments
7) Ideally start narrowing down what my “must-have” teas are…

Overall goals for the year…includes non tea aspects:)

Reduce my stash. Ideally before I make my Davids Tea buy…but seriously that mostlikely would not happen.

Make a weekly tea goal of 4-10. (The kicker is to remember to make and take my 16 ounce tea mug with me to work 5 days a week instead of grabbing a large coke with breakfast burrito w/mild sauce and plain mcgriddle cakes.
Making some kind of quick but heathier breakfast such as overnight oats.
Eating healthy lunch and dinner.

Post more tea reviews!!!

Make more jewelry.

Start painting/Art journal project.

Write more.

Check out more tea places in Michigan.

Make more friends around me. (Been living here for over a year and I don’t know many people.)

Or you can grab a coffee cup (the paper ones with lid) if they have it at your workplace. I used to get two cups and a lid all the time. Brew your tea in the first cup. Put a lid over it. Pour it over to the second cup. No more overbrewed teas or leaves in your mouth ;) No fuss, no muss.

-never getting a stash that requires a spreadsheet for keeping track because I’m never getting around to making one

OK Goals for next year:
1) Reduce number of teas down to 55 by year end
2) Reduce weight of tea down to 4000g by year end (half puerh weight if possible while doing that)
3) Spend as little as possible this year – generally only if I’ve been able to consume more than what would come in.
4) Find some Canadian companies to explore IF orders are placed

Well, you might be able to drop down to 55 teas. Especially if I’m not buying, then it means I can’t send you anything new…

i got down to 75 last year…er 2014. usd/cad exchange sucks, no trips planned that would let me splurge. goal is to drink 275g each month :)

OMGsrsly said

Actually, that’s like… 10g a day. That doesn’t seem too difficult, the way you drink tea!

Sil select said

that’s the plan…reasonable goals, attainable…

Hmmm interesting – I love when you guys do the math and then point out the obvious to me.
Sil – 275g/m is totally obtainable – I think you could even buy some and keep that up. :)
Finding Canadian companies is something we all need to be on the look out for….

Sil select said

@dexter – that’s why i set that as my goal since i know i’ll probably slip up and get a few teas…or terri will send me a box…or you…or…or… etc. lol

Hmm.
1. create a tea spreadsheet to track my stash
2. taste every tea in my stash at least once in 2016
3. get rid of any tea I really don’t want to drink instead of just letting it sit around taking up space
4. more sample sipdowns!
5. once the current samples are gone, swap to get more samples rather than just buying more tea when I need something new to try :)

1. Finish off all of my Butiki teas before they completely lose their flavor
2. Maintain a tea collection small enough to fit into my current storage area
3. Stick to my $10/month tea budget all year
4. Swap more than I shop (I don’t count TTB/swap postage in my tea budget, so this will really help me keep resolution #3!)

2. Post on Steepster more often.
3. Stick with more straight teas than the flavoured ones.

1. Get the 2nd Midwest Tea Festival organized and put on.
2. Use more of my tea ware – don’t get stuck in a rut just because something is handy
3. Hopefully tour a tea estate in India
4. Learn more about tea & food pairings
5. Learn more about “official” tasting methods
6. Successfully lead quarterly book & tea clubs – which will involve expanding my knowledge of tea culture in India, Japan, China & Africa
7. Buy only tea ware that truly sings to me, not just the stuff that whispers
8. Buy no more tea unless something spectacular comes my way
9. Find better and nifty-er accommodations for my tea than scattered in cupboards
10. Maybe go to either San Francisco or LA festival. Or Vancouver.

-stop breaking teaware

I am newly able to walk again, so being able to carry things with 2 hands should help, but really… I’ve broken my most-used gaiwan and favorite teacups in the past 2 days.
