This is my stash at the moment. It’s kind of disorganised, especially the large pile of sample-sized towards the back-left. I wouldn’t mind a small some organizational box for those like some of the other posts here.

I am due for another sorting, but here is everything jammed into my Ikea cubbies. 588 teas here.

I use similar Ikea units for my puerh. I simply bought 12 × 12 × 12 boxes that fit right in the cubby hole to store my puerh tea in. They are available in just about any size from www.uline.com

I put my pu’er in those owl containers, shou has the lid off. I got a pumidor in the works.

My Ikea has some plastic baskets that fit the shelves, which I used on the lower cubbies to store tins and such. Other Ikea baskets that fit smelled like straw/whatever. I used to use boxes but my climate is super dry I needed something better.

Disappointingly, the Ikea cubby doors I installed smell really strong of cheap wood, I was going to store the pu’er in there but after over 6 months the smell never went away no matter what I did, so I went into owl crock town. Crock town has been doing well.

Wow, look at all those owls!

My collection of tea (and canisters):

Teaware is scattered across 3 different cabinets.

So nicely organized, with such attractive containers!

Still working on organizing the tea ware though; right now there’s a lot of barware/cocktail junk taking up the space (just above the tea tray) that I plan on commandeering for my cups and pots.

I drool over those fat horse tea pets all the time! And I LOVE the pot and pitcher with the bold swipes of color over to the left. Also, I have one of those cat cups as well. :P I fished in a few months ago and got the pot to go with the cup. Haven’t used it yet, though.

curlygc said

Thanks! The pots/cups are Hedi O’Neill pieces, she’s a potter in Dingle, Ireland. She made a shibo for me, which I will get next week (can’t wait!). I love the cat cup… it was like $2 at my local asian grocery. They make monkey and dog cups too, but I can’t find the cups anywhere, just bowls!

I have such a pottery weakness.

curlygc said

Me too! So much so that I’m taking a pottery class. It starts next week. Yay!

I’m just now learning about tea and you guys are terrifying me! I see lots of $$$$ in my future. But also excitement about learning something new.

Hide your credit cards now. :)

We’re not all this crazy. The guy with 5 tins in a corner of the kitchen isn’t posting.

I should show my family/friends your guys’ photos to prove that I’m still in the OK range! They seem to think my tiny collection is out of control!

Same here. And honestly, I don’t really see overspending on teaware becoming a thing for me. I’m not the sort of patient person who appreciates the way the sheen of the tea pet changes over the next 6 months or whatever.

For some reason I was expecting at least someone here to have a whole room or shed dedicated to tea. I dont think anyone is as out of control as they could be :)

Nicole said

Depends on the size of room you are talking about. I suspect some could dedicate a small bedroom or office to tea. :) And if you don’t think this is out of control, you really have been here too long! Inmates never think the other inmates are insane, after all. :P

Hahahah! I could totally see that expectation.

Check out this discussion on Teachat, “A Different League of Pu Collectors and Drinkers:”

Here’s a direct link to the forum/site where the photos are, it’s in Chinese though:

Takes awhile for the photos to load, but they are interesting!

Dustin said

First thing that loads is a ceiling with a surveillance camera. That’s how you know someone is SUPER serious about tea. I’m going to need to step up my game and put live feed on my tea stash. :P

And as far as the tea lounge goes… challenge accepted! Now I just need a bigger yard. Much bigger. 2016 goals!

Lol I didnt notice the cctv camera the first look

Tea lounge… hm. I do have an enclosed gazebo in the backyard with a hot tub that is being disposed of next summer… I wonder if my husband would put up with a tea lounge… :P

How did you guys get pictures of my stash? I may need a new security guard.

So anyway, my tea collection isn’t picture-worthy. It’s all sort of strewn across a couple shelves — some in boxes — of an industrial-looking bookshelf that really belongs in a garage. And mostly in those brown baggies everything ships in. I stopped collecting tins when I realized how hard it is to get the smell of the previous tea out of them.

My mother has such an epic collection of tins, I think watching her try to store them all put me off using them.
I have half a shelf in a cupboard, a plastic tub, two smaller containers, and at work I have what’s rapidly becoming a tea drawer. I enjoy having lots of samples at work, trying new teas.
