New Verdant Shipping

Has anyone else found that the new shipping from Verdant is quite long? I had purchased something back in Sept, said it was shipped on the 14th and still haven’t received it. I figured it would take a bit longer being that its coming from China. I was just wondering if any of you had the same time issues.

My last Verdant order seemed to take a long time to ship, but once it left China didn’t take long to arrive.
I ordered 26Aug, shipped 10Sep, left China 15Sep, arrived 21Sep.

I second this. I ordered 8/27 and received 9/23.

The part that bothers me is the delay from when you ordered it until when it was actually shipped. That’s been the problem with my order. I get that transit and customs times can take longer than expected, but the shipper sending it shouldn’t be your longest delay.

If they ship from China now, doesn’t the tea hang out in Customs for a while?

Yes, but this, in my experience, is true for every company shipping directly from China, so I wouldn’t be too worried about it. So long as it arrives in the end, it’s all fine with me. (Have just had one that didn’t, so am now waiting for a re-shipment. The original one was according to the tracking number succesfully delivered in a completely different country. Very mysterious. I think someone must have hijacked the parcel enroute or something.)

Tea and teaware can be detained in customs without anyone noticing. I would contact verdant, and they can help you out. I’ve had an order be detained for almost a month before someone noticed.

I’m assuming China to US is similar to China to Canada. I haven’t ordered from Verdant recently, but with Teavivre I average 2 weeks to a month. For stretches at a time, 2 weeks will be the norm, and then a month or so more common. I think it will be a tough adjustment for US customers as they would have had the promptest service from Verdant before. Hope it turns up soon!

I placed an order on Sep 18. I got an email Sep 25 apologizing because there had been a delay in shipping (and offering an $8 coupon for a future order). I’m not exactly sure when it left China, but the Canada Post sticker that was presumably added once it arrived in Canada is dated Sep 28. I think it actually arrived in my mailbox Oct 1 or 2. So overall, that was WAY faster than I expected. And given that it was green tea picked on Sep 13 and 14, I’m pretty pleased. :)

Yes. I’m having a very frustrating experience with Verdant’s shipping. I won’t go into detail here, but suffice it to say, my package is still sitting in China.

For what it’s worth, the people at Verdant are very nice and try to make it up to you.

I have a few that I don’t think are even en route yet – I’m getting nothing when I enter my tracking numbers, and I received my earliest shipping confirmation email eleven days ago. I can imagine that moving your business to another country and hiring a brand new team is daunting, but this lag time is something that they should probably address.

I agree with you completely. If they want to keep people’s business long-term they will have to iron out these issues and get shipping streamlined. My experience mirrors yours. I’m going on two weeks from when it was supposed to have been shipped and only got my first update on October 20 (saying it arrived at the shipper). It’s still sitting at the shipper.

It seems like one part of the issue is that Verdant says the package is being shipped on one date but they don’t get it to the actual shipper until a much later date. Then there is a delay with the actual shipper (EMS) sitting on the package that adds to the overall delay. The first part (if true) is inexcusable, while the second part is probably out of their hands and can’t be controlled.

This might be a bit off-topic, but has anyone gotten shipment for the October subscription box? Was charged on the 15th I think.

I think it’s entirely on-topic.

Yeah, I have an email saying it was charged on the 15th, but no email yet confirming shipping (although last month there was an 11-day gap between payment confirmation and shipping confirmation, so… soon? maybe?)

i got an email confirming my order had been shipped but then nothing happened with tracking for about 5 days. it may have something to do with the holiday though, as they could be behind getting things out while payments are scheduled and happen without people being there?

I ordered with them recently and they shipped it within 3 days of ordering. It did take 8 days to ship on a previous order but I believe the delay was due to a Chinese national holiday. That order took 2 weeks from shipment to doorstep which is within the normal range for international shipping. Let’s see how long my current shipment will take.

I miss their speedy domestic shipping back in the day when they were US-based but the tradeoff is fresher tea.

You’ve been very fortunate so far. I hope your luck holds up. The order I’m still waiting for was placed on October 5 but because of the Chinese holiday I was told it would ship on October 12 (it didn’t even get to the shipper until October 20 according to the website). It’s still sitting at the shipper in China. Not sure what the delay is at this point, but it’s very frustrating to say the least. I’ve ordered from other Chinese based tea sellers before (Teavivre is one) and never had to wait over 12 days total from the day I ordered to the day it arrived. Maybe that’s a rarity and I’m spoiled. Either way, I hope they work out the kinks or it will negatively affect their business. Who wants to wait a month for tea when you can get a similar product elsewhere in a fraction of the time. The only saving grace is that the people at Verdant have been very nice to deal with even if they have no idea how to fix the problem on their end.

yeah that was my order as well. Email confirmation on the 13 but it didn’t get to the shipper until the 19.

From the problems people are describing I wonder, are they shipping SAL or E Packet or Air Mail? SAL and Air Mail can be quite slow and unreliable.

I feel bad that others are having the same problem, but also somewhat glad my problem isn’t an isolated one. Since they are having problems with multiple customers I’m hoping they feel incentivized to fix the problem as quickly as possible. This can’t be good for their business as a whole.

As for shipping method, I really have no idea. I guess it’s something to inquire about if I decide to order from them again in the future. At this point I’m just hoping it gets to me intact and undamaged.
