I grew up with this tea in the house in Australia. It is awesome for me because it reminds me of home!

I grew up in Germany, but this is still my “family tea”. Wherever I go, I brew up pot of this stuff with a little bit of milk and sugar, I feel right at home. Totally see eye to eye with you, even in the other hemisphere.

On a sidenote, the stuff they sell in bags is totally unrelated to the loose leaf variant. And not in a good way.

My flat mate got me into this one. Perfect for moments when you don’t want a plain old builders’ brew, but need something a bit more familiar tasting than a wacky infusion.

A friend just sent me this tea today.
I’ve been feeling ick from the crazy spring weather and this stuff was just what I needed.
I love lemon tea, but sometimes the lemon can be overpowering.
This was not the case with this tea at all.
So tasty! My new favorite bagged tea.

This tea is a great one, if not for the good flavour and solid price then prehaps for its super eco-friendly packaging. Got a box of 160 bags as I have developed quite a taste for it of late and the ‘foil’ that holds 40 tea bags together had bio-degradable or something stamped across it. This lead to much head scratching till on the side of the box, clear as day it says that it isn’t in fact foil but wood pulp.

I’m not regretting buying it, it’s reasonably pleasant, but I don’t think I’ll be too gutted when it vanishes off the shelves. The rose taste is quite fresh and subtle, not too perfumey like some can be, but I think it needed a better quality black tea; this one’s a little flat and on the bitter side.

Haven’t tried it with milk (I tend to avoid putting milk into favoured teas) but it’s good with just a pinch of sugar.

Pretty much the only tea I’ve been drinking. New to the world of tea so slowly starting to expand my tastes, but I really like this. Have been making it every day for a week. A bit weaker than I would normally make it, but still tasty. Also, I like this more than Tazo’s Earl Grey that I had last weekend. The Twinings has a much less overpowering flavor than the Tazo;s.

So this was an interesting experience this morning. First, I’d been doing the decaf thing for a while so when I decided I would just do the full caffeine version… hmm. maybe not the wisest choice as I feel a bit jittery now.
As for the flavor. I took my first sip just after finishing a glass of juice. Not pleasant at all. I was terribly disappointed since I remember enjoying this tea. It tasted really old and stale.
After I got the juice/sweet taste out though, I continued and it was much improved. I used a small amount of milk in it and it’s very enjoyable over my eggs and toast. I’ll continue using this one in the am but I think I’ll try to remove some of the caffeine, steer clear of drinking it with juice and likely not add any sweetener just to be safe (I’m not a fan of sweet teas anyway.)

It’s mint in a tea bag. Simple, easy and good when you need it. Not something I’d walk 1000 miles for, but just simply good.

This is one of my earliest tea tries. It’s a friendly flavor even tongues newer to the black tea world. I loved the lightness of it and that with the tea bags, I didn’t destroy the flavor too much if I forgot to take the bag out on time. When I started getting into loose leaf teas, I of course bought that variety but I’ve never been able to love it as much as the bags. I’m still trying to get that light citrus/flowery quality rather then the stronger black tea taste that seems to occur when I try using the leaf. If that just fails me, there is always the tea bag to go back to.

This one was nice, but I wasn’t overly impressed with it. I guess I just prefer the stronger flavor of the Earl Grey teas. I did the milk and sugar thing, but it was a bit too mild for my liking. Maybe I’ll give it another shot before I give up on it completely. I did get it in a sample package of Twinings teas, so I only have 4 bags left.

This is a nice one. I especially like to sweeten it with raw sugar instead of white, as I do with many teas to which I don’t add milk.

Ran out of Second Cup Holiday Tea (but then, it IS March…) so I’ve moved on to Twinings Lady Grey. Good stuff, but it’s way too delicate for the milk and sugar I put in it. Next time, lemon juice. (Note to self: acquire lemon.) Ordinarily I prefer stronger teas, but this is a lovely tea with a beautiful scent.

I used to drink this infusion a lot, but after drinking more loose leaf, this one tastes less fresh in comparison. It also tastes slightly artificial… I wonder whether the added flavourings were natural. Having said that, in order to get any flavour into a fruit tea in a tea bag variety, I guess you have to add extra flavourings. I prefer my drinks to be a bit more natural tasting, but then again I have lots of friends who don’t drink infusions that much but like this one because of the stronger taste and deep red colour. I like Twinings tea a lot, but I’ll gladly give this one to my friends.

This tea is okay. It is a basic bagged black tea. It wasn’t bad though. A little bitter but flavorful.

I love irish breakfast, but I think it really shines with milk and sugar. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Caitlin

I am not big on adding things to my tea, but I can definitely see how that would be good. I will give it a try next time I have irish breakfast.

mpierce87

Yeah, some may not view tea the way I do, but I feel that some teas just aren’t meant to be plain. IMO, irish breakfast is a prime example.

Start note: this post is mostly about another tea…

Earl Gray is my first cup this morning. Made it stronger in a small cup. I never tasted so much bergamot in it. Interesting. Suites me better these days than when i started drinking it…

However started the tasting note for another tea. I just borrowed a teaspoon from a colegue on work. Yunnan. My first. He bought it in a pharmacy. So idk how to even name it. Thats why its in this log. I’m really curious. This will be my first pure green tea. But i got plenty more coming my way.

Leaves are longer and look better than any of the blends i have in my current stash. Says on the bag its green yunnan even tho the leaves are quite darkish.

Mmmm i like the smell of the leaves i just took out of the tea. Promissing :D
Color is bright yellowish green. Smell reminds me of my favorite silver needle. Taste too. It has that what i call it nutty feel about it (kinda greasy like sunflower seeds). Tastes quite greasy and smooth. Yummy. Very good. I kinda really really like this. OMG im discovering pure green yummy teas. W00t!

I feel bad for this one cuz it doesnt have it’s place in my cupboard. I just might have to go buy a bag ;) Sigh…
