yummy! got rid of my headache and now i’m awake!

This one is really growing on me. Definitely one of the better citrus green teas I’ve had.

I seem to have done something right with this tea this time, because I like it better than the first time I had it. I’m just not sure what it is, exactly, that I’ve done differently. I used my default green tea setting – 77C for two and a half minutes – both times.

Anyway, this tea has a sharp citrus aroma, but the taste is much smoother. The lime element is balanced just right, so it’s neither too much nor too little.

The leaves give off a wonderful citrusy smell, and you get a similar aroma from the brewed tea. The first sip isn’t anything like as strong to the taste, so I was somewhat disappointed to start with, but the flavour really builds as you go along. I liked the end of the cup much better than the beginning.

This is a little lighter than other Dragonwells I’ve tried. If I have to choose a favourite green tea, this one would probably be it. It’s delicate, but requires less exacting treatment to get right than, say, some Japanese green teas. (Gyokuro, I’m looking at you.) Usually, I love the flavour of this. I’ve seen some of my Steepster friends describe Dragonwell as salty to the taste, and while I can sort of see where that reaction is coming from, it’s really not what I think of first, in relation to this dragonwell in particular. I find the flavour of this one subtle and complex, and while it’s not sweet as a Japanese green can be when you get it just exactly right, it’s not bitter, either, apart from a teensy bit of astringency lurking around the edges.

Sadly, the flavour is dulled today. I’m getting towards the end of the packet and it looks like the leaves are starting to lose some of their flavour. It’s still good – but it can be so much better. I think I feel an order from the Tea Centre coming on…

Another favourite. This is a delicate tea that manages to be anything but dull. Complex and very distinctive in flavour.

Back to this one today. I actually paid attention to what I was doing and got it right this time. Mmmm.

Brewed at 77C instead of 70C this time – because I wasn’t thinking about which tea I was making – and there’s a bit more astringency than I like. Still a good cup of tea, but not as good as it should be.

This is an excellent Dragonwell. Brewed at 70C for two minutes.

This is a very light – in colour and taste – dragonwell, very delicate and in need of careful handling, but it’s really worth the effort. That particular malty dragonwell sort of flavour comes through strongly, despite the lightness and the delicacy. This is a great cup of tea.

Very delicate, very subtle green tea with the instantly recognisable flat green leaves and pale yellow brew. This one is lighter in taste than the Dragonwell from Teas & Tisanes that I had the other day. Water at 70C and steeped for two minutes.

The scent is smoky, the taste smooth and mellow and difficult to properly put into words. I think I could drink a lot of this one.

This has a nice hint of lemon without being too overpowering. The ginseng is mostly in the aftertaste. Not up there with my favourites, but not bad at all.

Interesting tea! The tea itself (a mix of black and green leaves) is quite okay and produces a medium strength brew, but the fruit and flowers also included in the blend lurk around the edges and really make this tea memorable. I like it best with a little honey added.

The weather in February usually makes me unwell, and this week has been one of those weeks, so I’ve been visiting this old friend. It always makes me feel a little better.

And there were a few fortifying cups of this consumed in the midst of everything else I’m trying to get done this week. Of course there were. :-)

Backlogging. This tea has got me through a lot of hard weeks over the years, and it did that again this week.

Revisiting old faithful. Hello, old friend.

Gah, got hit by a migraine this morning, so having some of this to take the edge off the headache. Two teaspoons of leaves, steeping in water at 85C for three minutes or so, produces a smooth and smoky-tasting cup of tea. An old favourite.

Drinking it for its headache-fighting qualities this time.

Having another pot of old faithful to help with a headache. Have I mentioned that this is a really forgiving white tea? Even if the water temperature’s not quite right and you forget to take the leaves out for a while, it’s still incredibly easy to drink.

This is a fabulous tea for easing head pain, which it’s doing right now for my post-chiropractic fall-out headache.

Mmmm. I never get tired of this one.

So easy to keep drinking AND it’s the best white tea I’ve found for easing migraine. Ahhh.
