I had a little scare, but it turned out good…I steeped the tea before looking at the ingredients and noticed turmeric root. Then I got scared because I bought the new bunny nordic mug from Davidstea and the inside of it is white. I was so afraid that it would stain it a dark yellow but thankfully, it did not! Phew! This tastes like cardamom and ginger. There is also a slight sweetness to it followed by spiciness. Unfortunately, this cup isn’t for me and I do not think that I can finish it.
The smell of the dry leaf reminded me of the boxed square menthol cough drops my mom would give me as a kid when I was sick. I am guessing this was made to help with sickness. Thankfully, I am not sick at the moment, but I do want to finish my stash of sample packs from Tea Taxi, so I am going to go ahead and try this one. 8 more to go…then it is on to my CitizenTea samples haha. Must drink most of my stash before summer as I do not have hot teas in the summer very often. It’s all about the iced teas! I am so ready to say goodbye to winter this year. It’s been a long cold one. Anyway-enough rambling and back to the tea. It is surprisingly good and kind of tastes like those menthol cough drops a bit but less intense. I am also getting hints of lemon and ginger. The rooibos is nice and subtle in this blend too.
This tea tastes tropical thanks to the papaya (which goes perfectly with the green tea). I really like this one. Now if I can only escape the long Canadian winter we’ve been having, that would be fantastic. But for now, this tea will do just fine while I envision warm sunny beaches cuddled in my soft, cozy blanket.
Upon opening the sample I had of this tea, I noticed a strong perfume smell coming from the dry leaf. I was a little worried that it might taste perfume-y as well and rightly so. I tried a few more sips and I just cannot finish it. A strong nope for me on this one.
Wow-you can really smell the cranberries while it is brewing. The dry leaf smells very fruity as well. I was startled a little as it brewed a darker color than I am used to with green teas. Tastes like green tea and cranberries-a pretty good combo together in my opinion.
Decided to try a new tea before watching another episode of Mr Mercedes on the start of my long weekend off. Nothing better than a night in with the dogs, a good show on TV (or book), a warm house, a comfy blanket and a cuppa good tea. This one doesn’t disappoint as it is a pretty tasty tea. I am detecting hints of strawberry and rose with a subtle green tea base. I find this tea very soothing.
The dry leaf remind me of a childhood cookie I used to have-lemon cream cookies. I taste apple and lemon mostly. I was kinda hoping they would taste like those lemon cream cookies as well but they don’t. It is drinkable, but not one I would reach out for again. Luckily, this was a sample pack and I used it all up for this cup.
Sipdown (516)!
TeaTaxi really does have some of the weirdest named teas…
Anyway, I’ve been holing onto this tea for a little while now waiting until I was deeply committed to a binge watch of something to break it out and finish it off during what I can only assume was the intended timing of such a tea. Well that moment finally happened over the last few days – someone introduced me to The Good Place and in the span of two days I finished both seasons of it. Holy shit it was an AMAZING show, and now I’m just chomping at the bit waiting for more episodes.
I broke this one out right as I was starting season two, and I wasn’t really sure what to expect flavour wise. I just knew that it felt right to be steeping it up. I don’t know; I guess it’s basically like a pineapple and raspberry flavour? I can see that – the overall profile was definitely fruity though in a weird and somewhat artificial and generic way. I think if I was blind tasting I’d have probably just called it slightly tropical and berry tasting though instead of really pinpointing those two flavours specifically. Knowing what they’re meant to be, though? Yeah, I can see it.
It was honestly just ok – and maybe that’s for the best? I think if you’re mid binge, and so obviously at that point where you’re REALLY invested in whatever you’re watching, then you need a tea that’s not so good or so bad that it’s distracting from the show. So if that’s your main criteria, then this nails that. It’s decidedly average, which in a way makes it perfect.
Yeah, I wouldn’t buy it again but it felt pretty perfect finishing it off.
