Initially I liked the flavor – better as an iced tea than hot – but afterwards it upset my stomach. Too sweet for my liking.

Sounds like trail mix… steeping trail mix sounds weird lol:)

This one is really nice. The flavor is subtle but satisfying. I serve it black, and it is nice iced as well.

drank Goji Green by Teaopia

Wonderful flavor, a bit of a sour fruit like taste that is ideal for those who aren’t into a purely green taste but still want the benefits. The pomegranate/strawberry mix with the benefits of goji berries is delicious. That being said, it is a bit pricier than most of the greens at teaopia, but totally worth it.

Smells like cinnamon and black tea.
MMM…I have not had loose leaf black tea in a long time…2 years I think. This is hittin the spot! This is one of the first loose leaf teas I ever bought, and I hated it the first time I tried it. It has sat in my cupboard until tonight. I decided to give this tea another chance since I have learned more about how steeping effects the taste. And I’m looking for something warm and spicey to get rid of this Canadian cold chill I have.
Now I would call this a good black tea. But keep in mind that I’m staying away from black tea and have not tried any other black loose leaf teas (except Blueberry Bush by Teaopia). It goes down smooth, it’s not bitter. I don’t taste the apple, or cinnamon, or vanilla…so those flavours must be quite mild. When you look at the tea in package, it’s mostly black, with a few tiny pieces of extra things. So it’s not surprising that the flavour is mainly black tea. But I suppose you could add more of what you like while steeping (vanilla, cinnamon, etc). Speaking of steeping, I recommend doing this one in the Teaopia Tea Master or similar…inginui…something or other that you folks have in the states. First time, as I was new to loose leaf, I used the little mesh ball in my mug. I think that was part of the problem. Plus I probably oversteeped (especially for the amount of water in a mug) and probably was having bitter tea, not realizing that it was my fault for not making it well.
Time to end this so….yeah, it’s black tea.

drank Honey Lemon by Teaopia

Smell – lemon (it’s delightful), and taste – green mostly and lemon and hardly honey. But still a very nice green tea (and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t drink much green tea). I think this is a good flavour to start with if you are looking to get into green. The lemon is well proportioned with the green to make a flavour that goes down easy.

Lemon and grass are the main notes with a tiny bit of apple in the background. Thumbs up to the tea taste, thumbs down to the tea being discontinued. I’ll have to savour what I have left!

drank Pomegranate Green by Teaopia

Mmmm…a lovely smell and nice taste for people who aren’t too into green tea. But don’t oversteep it. 2-3 minutes is good. I don’t taste much of the cranberries, and the tea is yellow in colour so I think it’s more green and a bit of pomegranate that comes through. Although it’s not a holiday blend, it could be well enjoyed this time of year with the cranberry and pomegranate scent – when you’re not drinking it, you’ll open the package just to smell it.

I’m disappointed…that they no longer sell this one!! I never thought I would like flower tasting tea but I do really enjoy this. I bought it because it was on sale but I guess they were clearing it out for good. Maybe there is a similar one somewhere? The aroma is rose and the taste is a good balance of white tea and flower taste. I steeped for 3 minutes but I think I may have over done it this time – I would try 2 minutes since it says “2-3 min”.
*indeed, 2 min steep made this much better.

drank Cleansing by Teaopia

The lady at the store warned me to stay near a toilet when drinking this tea, but really there was no need. So I’m not sure if this is meant to be that kind of cleanse, or if it just doesn’t work that way. The main flavours that I taste are grassy and mint. I don’t mind the grassy taste but it may not be for everyone. So I like but I don’t love, and because it doesn’t really clean me out as the name implies, I moved my rating just below the smiley.

I sometimes let my cup steep for 30-60 minutes and it works within several hours. Give that a try!

A good tea. Not something I’d have on a regular basis. The spices were nice, without being too overpowering like many cinnamon teas are. Good for afternoons or with cake.

After my first purchase of matcha kit with pinnacle grade matcha from Teaopia two weeks ago, I am already officially hooked.

Many people online suggested that one should start off with lower grade matcha and gradually move up the ladder in order to fully appreciate the good ones. I debated and decided to use a different method, and now I’m glad I did. I started off with the highest grade of matcha Teaopia offered, the Matcha Pinnacle, because I don’t want something disgusting tasting that will turn me off it from the beginning. OUCH MY WALLET! It also gives me the option to play around with the matcha to be able to make it into either usucha or koicha.

Now, I am absolutely and completely hooked. I’m already halfway through my 30g tin because I just absolutely must have a nice relaxing bowl of it as I get home from a long day at work. It helps me relax and actually able to focus on my studies and even helps me sleep a bit, strange as it might sound. I guess in a way I’m lucky because caffeine doesn’t affect me very much, and I can barely feel the caffeines from any coffee or tea that I’ve drunk, so no problems there.

I must say, THE TASTE is the most heavenly and beautiful tea taste that I have ever had. It completely revolutionizes the experience of tea. As soon as you open the can, you can smell the wonderful grassy sweet smell, distinct from any other tea that I have tasted so far. (It may possibly smell like gyokuro, but I have yet to try that) Using 2 chashakus (bamboo tea spoon) for usucha or 4 chashakus for koicha, sifting is a must (I just press it through a mesh filter), add 2-3 oz of water at 70-80 degrees celcius to an already pre-heated bowl, and whisk with the chasen (bamboo whisk which is an art in itself).

The taste of it as an usucha is unbelievably refreshing and it feels like it’s cheering you up, even. It foams very easily, an indication of a great matcha. The colour is of a beautiful bright green, like grassy hills in springtime. The best words to describe this usucha is pure and bright.

The koicha is incredibly incredibly smooth and the texture is yogurt-like. The colour is a deep dark green, with no foam. The intense sweetness in it is so unexpected from a tea that is so concentrated. It is a completely different experience than the usucha and should be called deep and sophisticated.

Both usucha and koicha contain almost no astringency whatsoever and no bitterness either. The grassy taste is obvious, but not too overwhelming that you feel its “bleerghh” if you know what I mean.

All in all, LOVE IT!
