mmmmm man. I really am loving these teas from taiwan tea crafts. They all seem to be of that juicy variety (the non aged, blacks anyway) which is great to have in my cupboard. While i love the malty dark teas like LB and others, sometimes it’s enjoyable to have the other variety when you need a taste of sunshine in your mouth :) This one has almost savory? notes in the background which help offset the juiciness a little while still being a fantastic cup of tea.
morning tea from ages ago. We got up early this morning to have breakfast and get the bedroom painted. Last night was a full evening of rearranging the living room and dining room in an effort to take back the house after out HUGE ikea trip on thrs night. Still enjoying this one a bunch, though it’s painful that i’m not going to make my goal for sipdowns by July lol
morning tea….seriously..my cupboard is exploding at the seams in the midst of attempting to move apartments…this was tea this morning in an effort to at least try to keep up with ONE of my 2 tea goals… it’s not working very well… the updated count for today is likely over 200…. eep! Still enjoying this one a lot, but i really do want to make sure that going forward, i’m only getting the smaller sample sizes from TTC so that i can drink them up faster :)
I have a few black teas from ttc to get through so I’m trying to weave them in to my rotation without making it a chore. :) this is one of my favourites, though it’s changed slightly. I fully love this company though I for sure Need to stick to ordering samples…lots of them hahaha
sipdown! the last little bit of this will go in a box somewhere for someone to try, just so that this is shared with more people. I have really enjoyed my first samples from TTC and i’m excited that my second order is on it’s way so that i can share more with friends :) This one is included again in that second order since i am a fan!
(222…and while i hoped to get down to 200 this weekend, not sure that will happen with my swap from dinosara that arrived…but i can still try!)
Interesting, I was drinking Red Jade by Tealux today. Need to add this to my list. Don’t need more tea yet, can’t order more tea yet..
I think I’ve only donned maybe sipdown all week, with boxes arriving in the next week or 2, I’ll probably be back up to 300 in no time!
I had this one earlier today too and it was also a happy time for me. If folks out there like black teas that have a sweeter, fruity taste versus a darker maltier taste, I’d recommend trying out taiwan tea crafts. Great customer service, cute little packages and some pretty delicious teas…and they’re on sale for the moment until the end of the month haha
ooooeee! man this is a tasty, tasty cup of tea this morning on a VERY rainy saturday. I have a bunch of things i’m trying to accomplish today in the real world so that I can check out the moon cake tasting at tao leaf tea today.
This is a juicy, delicious tea that i’m am likely going to be ordering more of this weekend. I have a couple more to try from taiwan tea crafts and then let the orders begin!
Edit: really enjoying the resteeps of this one too, though they take on a darker vibe….as the juiciness fades to the back. Still delicious though.
I’m jealous! I wanna go!
I did a sipdown on this tea a few days ago, just never got around to posting it. I think my most favorite of the TTC teas was Assam 154 (or one of the assams, anyway, LOL). But they were all tasty!
Sooo i’ve been sitting here for a bit. This is more of a story, than a true tasting note. I haven’t had much tea today but after the events of the day, i knew i wanted to end the day with something a little special. I don’t have many teas that i horde – i’ve gotten much better at drinking the things i love, when i want them. So i had to dig a little to find a tea for today. What struck me about this one was that it’s an aged black tea. 30 years in fact.
So tonight, i’m celebrating with a new tea type, that I haven’t had before (that i can recall, so it totally counts) and with something that was aged for 30 years. Here’s hoping that it’s a great beginning to things that will last.
What the heck am i talking about? Well today marks the day that my other half proposed. Yep. Our anniversary happens to fall on international talk like a pirate day (today) and he opted to pick today to celebrate our four years together – looking forward to hopefully, at the very least, another 30 together. I can only hope we’ll age as well together like this tea.
This is earthy but really smooth…and the more i drink it, the more the flavours seem to be opening up. i am much in the moment. drinking this tea and contemplating the future.
thanks… i can’t tell anyone on FB yet, so i have to limit my excitement to here for the most part until i can get around to telling other friends/family lol
Haha! We got engaged last December, but weren’t actually home until July and I waited to tell a bunch of people then.
lol i’m probably not going to tell my parents for another 4 weeks…we’re going on vacation with them in october…so i think? i can wait haha
oh my gosh! congratulations! I remember feeling so giddy when my fiancé proposed, and I hope whatever feelings of happiness and giddiness and love and excitement you have will last and last and last.
Congrats! That’s wonderful! Also, a pirate wedding sounds awesome. You could serve Della Terra’s Lemon and Lime Chiffons with dessert (gotta stave off the scurvy!).
Sip down! Still a few hours until my guest goes to the airport so I’m not getting organized very quickly today. I have teas to add to my cupboard and things to sort out in addition to going through work emails, cleaning the house and doing laundry. Blech. On the plus side I managed to fit the new board game we bought into the existing shelves we have…though I may have to buy another shelf if we buy anymore :(
I really enjoy this oolong, after having it again, and going through a few steeps of it this morning, it is one that I would order again. It doesn’t taste like your typical toasty oolong, instead there’s a sweetness here that is not something I’ve tasted often with roasted oolongs. There’s no vegetal “oolongy” Taste to ruins things for me either. This is not an overly bold oolong, but it is a relaxing restful one that has been interesting for me to drink :)
Aother tea I managed to nab tonight. I’m not sure if its Ottawa water so I’m glad ill have more to try when I get back to Toronto, but this did not taste like any other oolong I’ve had. Neither green nor roasted. It was intriguing to say the least so I’m looking forward to trying this again when I get home. It’s like earthy and yet not…there isn’t that toasty taste I get from most roasted oolongs…yep. Interesting :)
Cavo – it’s very similar to water in b.c from what I can remember.
Awkward soul – Terri and I purchased a number of their black teas and all have been great so far! I particularly like the fact that you can get them in 25g sample sizes and shipping isn’t terrible…at least in Canada. Th packaging isn’t resealable but its pretty and the customer service is really good.
Sipdown! (see terri, i AM trying even though i don’t normally achieve sipdowns through my work teas…) The last lonely cup of this one will also be going to a random swap partner to try out. I prefer the assams to this one, but the one reason i had wanted to try this was because i had tried a similar tea via butiki. Now, i can’t recall how that one tasted but impressions are good.
While it was nice to have this one, i feel like i’m better off not keeping it as a staple in my cupboard because there are others i prefer more. This is a tasty treat that i like, but it’s more of a rotate in from time to time sort of tea :)

….until I pick up my order tomorrow at the post office. I’m really 20 more than you. Might catch up for Friday!
SIPDOWN! no more october teas! In to December i go! WOOT WOOT! Yeah so i did that. and it was good. and this will come back to me someday in the future lol
trying to get a few things done before my other half wakes up. One of those is updating and figuring out where i am in terms of my tea now that it’s July 1st.
My goal was to get to 100 teas and have the oldest tea be from January 2014. Where i stand is: 164 [Fake Cupboard at 105 teas and 60 samples] and my oldest tea is from Oct 2013 (1 serving left) + 4 teas from December (about 3oz). Not too shabby considering i lost about a month of tea drinking with the move and everything else going on. So i’m putting myself on hiatus until i’m caught up with my goals. For July i was aiming for 95 teas with the oldest being from Feb by Aug 1. I’m allowed to order if i hit one of those goals before Aug 1. I’m so mean to myself lol BUT i really want to get my cupboard in order over the year now that i feel like i have a solid handle on the majority of my likes and dislikes. That was i’ll have more room for puerh cakes and still find the time to drink them :)
Happy Canada Day everyone!
Happy Canada Day, Sil! Wowzers, I’m so envious of your tea-goal-organization skills. WICKED. You can do it!
I won’t finish this up for July 1 but I am only 1 or 2 more sessions away from a sipdown with this one – the oldest tea in my cupboard (oct 2013) ignoring puerhs heh. I am a fan of this one and it’s because of teas like this and others that i’ll continue to pick up teas from TTC to try out. :)
Holy moley – Oct is your oldest teas? I’m jealous! I have my 3 Justea tins to drink from August, and a bit of matcha from September before I even worry about Black Friday sipdowns!
Wooo! congrats!
My other tea of the morning. I’ve decided to work from home until Wednesday given that it’s a holiday on tuesday and as a result have the world isn’t at work and my meetings are waaaaaaay less than normal. This gives me time to spend with my tea and means maaaaaybe, just maaaaaybe, i won’t work 12-16hr days for the next couple. Plus no travel time = more time for painting and cleaning and moving things around in the house. We picked up the paint yesterday so now it’s time to finish up the living room and the kitchen. They we’ll be set for putting all the other rooms away. and THAT would make me a happy camper, if we can finish it all by July 1st :)
We’re still working on getting the front porch ready to paint. I say ‘still working’, but in reality very little work has been done over the last week. First my sweet potatoes arrived & had to be planted. Then it rained for days, so the wood prep project was on hold. My goal for today, which includes both sons, is to complete all prep work & maybe even start slapping some paint around!
nice! good luck! I’ll post pics of the living room and kitchen on FB once we get through more. Ian’s home today so we may do stuff while i’m in between meetings, but so far he’s just sleeeeeeeping… bah
YES. Work from home! You’ve inspired me… I think I’ll work extra tomorrow and Sat, and take Monday off. :D
