Sunday sipdown #4!

This is kind of a cheat – I got an individual sample of this on Friday and am sipping it down to feel like I’ve accomplished something.

This tea is really more of a novelty than anything else, and that’s because of its packaging. The tea leaf comes packed inside a small perforated tube, and it’s this tube that gets inserted into the hot water for the tea to steep. The tube is made of some type of plastic, I think. But on top of that, it’s also sealed inside a plastic sleeve, so you have to cut the plastic to get to the tube. I suppose this is to keep it fresher for longer.

At no point when you are steeping this do you actually see the tea leaf. So there’s no way to know, without weighing it, exactly how much leaf is inside the tube. I used about 12 oz of liquid at 79C for 3 minutes.

Before I put the tube in the water, I sniffed it and could definitely smell peach, as well as something which seemed like honeysuckle or jasmine. The resulting liquor is not bad, actually. I’m not getting much peach flavour, but there is a sweet floralness to it. The spent tube (….ew) smelled kind of chemically though, and for some reason reminded me of cigarettes.

Anyways, yeah. This tea is nothing special. I got it mainly because the sales lady at the store I was at repeatedly said I should try this after asking for some samples of their Tea Emporium loose leaf. Overall, meh.
