Finished this off today. It was nice while it lasted, but I won’t miss it now it is gone. Had it hot today during a rehearsal so I didn’t really pay that much attention to it, but I left it steeping for ages and after a while the lemon aftertaste became kind of bleachy, but it certainly wasn’t undrinkable.

Thank you QueenOfTarts!

Eventually got on to trying this one. The dry scent is nice, lemon with a bit of warmth from the rooibos. Steeped, it smells much the same. It tastes very good – the lemon is more soft and sweet than tart, which is what I expected, but this is good. The rooibos taste is slightly overpowering this taste though, and I only get a clear lemon taste at the end of the sip.

Iced the rest of this and the lemon comes out much more. This is definitely a tea that is better iced.

This tea has a very light scent when dry. I can barely make out the notes of butter that I associate with a good Milk Oolong.

195/3 min. – Now that it is brewed, I still can barely smell or taste the characteristic nutty and buttery flavors of Milk Oolong. It is there, but it is very light, as is the oolong. There’s also a slight taste of cinnamon. This tea is what I would consider a delicate, or a light Milk Oolong. It’s not what I had hoped for in terms of strength, but it’s certainly not bad, either.

Hmm. I keep reading so many reviews of Milk Oolongs that sound like the reviewer was somewhat disappointed. I’ve crossed so many Milk Oolongs off my “must try” list due to such reviews. Frankly, I’ve gotten to the point where I think I should just stick with American Tea Room’s MO, because it’s so much better than any other I’ve tried. It’s expensive, but I know it delivers the goods.

QuiltGuppy

I’m on a quest to try a bunch of them. ATR is one of my two favorites because of the roasted, nutty and buttery flavor. Thepuritea is the other for the surprising fruity notes with the nutty and buttery flavor. (They’re sold out at least until May, according to their customer service.) I’ve tried several others, but the only other one that comes close is Théodor, but it’s super expensive, and I still prefer the others. I keep trying, though! It is very off-putting to try these teas, though, and find them lacking. Sometimes it’s better to live vicariously through others’ tea treks. ;)

I tried this as my afternoon tea. It smelled promising, of fruit and green tea, but upon steeping (165/1.5 min… too short, so I dropped it down for another 1.5 min) the flavor just never developed. All I could really taste was the tart apple. No mango. The green tea was very weak. I wasn’t impressed with this one.

The leaves of this tea were very broken up and dusty. They are very dark, nearly black. I think perhaps my packet had been crushed. I treated it the same nonetheless. It smells toasty at first when dry. 195/3 min.

The taste has morphed from a toasty promise into a rich, roasted flavor. There is a slight sweetness to it that is slightly syrupy, along the lines of cane sugar or raisin. It’s a very nice, dark and full-bodied oolong. Very much like a sweeter roasted Dong Ding.

Wow! This is THE most chocolatey tea I have ever tasted. Rich, Decadent. It really is like dessert in a cup. Definitely staple-worthy! (Yes, I just made up a word!) The second steep was not quite as strong in the chocolate department, but still thoroughly enjoyable. This will so help me stay away from too many sweets!

Thank you Dinosara for the awesome HoppiTEA!

Glad to know this one is awesome! I am going to have to get some eventually, because it just sounded too good.

gmathis

Staple-worthy is a great word. My list of said teas is getting longer by the minute.

feiniel

it’s rich probably because the milk chocolate chips melt when you brew it. i’d be tempted but i’m allergic to milk!

This is actually pretty good. I’ve held on to this sample for many moons now… because, as I’ve said before, herbal blends often scare me. But, I really had no reason to fear this one. It tastes like apple and mango with a hint of chamomile. While there IS hibiscus in this blend, it is there more for some color and texture to the cup rather than flavor. I can taste only hints of tartness from it. This is one of the more pleasant relaxation blends out there!

My tea of the afternoon (I had Golden Snail this morning, but how many people need to hear about it over and over?)

Nice, light almond flavor, hint of cinnamon, and the tea base is slightly smokey. Very good and it reminds me of cookies. I got this one from Dinosara from our Hoppitea swap. Are there any swap/holiday opportunities coming up? I thought it was fun!

The only bummer note as of today….my electric kettle is flaking out on me. I really want it to work, but sadly, I think it is a bust. Functionality is much more important than looks…..but it looks so nice!

I got a package today! Did I know this was coming? :)

SimplyJenW

@ashmanra…no, you did not. It was a surprise! Were you surprised? If so, it worked!

Ellyn

I’d also like a new tea swap! that was great!!

It seems like Jen was the Tea Fairy to many this week! :)

This was my afternoon cup today. I brewed it up for about three minutes with boiling water and added a little sweetener. It definitely reminded me of those windmill cookies. Lightly cinnamon flavored. It actually also reminded me of coffee just a little. I may add milk next time. I love the name, even though my actual boss is very cool.

Yayyy for HoppiTEA tea! And thank you, Dinosara!

Best oolong ever (for flavored!) I can totally see myself drinking this often especially in the summer months. It is fruity and refreshing. Must try it iced at some point. Thank you Dinosara for an awesome HoppiTEA Swap treat!

The fruit flavors are paired with a darker oolong base. You don’t really get any vegetal flavors with this one (as I am assuming that is what they are called with a greener oolong…yes, the oolong noob that I am.) I can definitely tast the mango and something other berry…kind of between a raspberry and a cranberry. Love it!

I wanted to try and expunge some old samples this morning, but most of my samples are really contain more than one cup (so there won’t be any expunging today I don’t think). This one is like the sample that never ends! I think I still have more than one cup left after using tea for this one.

Well, it’s still a pretty tasty tea. Chocolate and coconut; now I’m wondering how this compares to Harney’s new(ish) Soho Blend, which is also chocolate and coconut. Also, as my mind is wandering while drinking this tea I am thinking about how it would taste with a pinch of almond tea in it… kind of like almond joy in a cup! That should be a way to enliven my next cup. I enjoy this tea but it’s not something I reach for; I certainly don’t crave it, hence it’s taking forever for me to get through the sample!

I haven’t had this tea in a while, so I thought I’d give it another go. I’ve enjoyed this one in my past tasting notes, but clearly not so much that I am craving it constantly. I based my brewing parameters this time on my last successful cup, so I’m hoping it comes through nicely.

The steeped tea smells nice, but there’s something about this coconut that seems odd to me now that I’ve had some other nice coconut tea. Maybe it’s just the combination with the chocolate, but it’s a bit less fresh, light, tropical (ironic considering this is “carribean”). Don’t get me wrong, it tastes great. Very chocolatey, and the coconut adds a creaminess. It doesn’t really scream tropical to me, but it does very clearly say “Mounds bar”. Definite yum.

So does it sort of have a ‘cocoa pina colada’ flavor?

Dinosara

Not really, because there’s no pinapple flavor. It’s really more straight up, somewhat toasted coconut with added chocolate.

This time I upped the steeping time on this one just to see what would happen, since I didn’t get any hints of bitterness at 3 minutes on my last cup. This cup certainly looks strong, and there’s a ton of dusty-stuff floating around in it; pieces of coconut and chocolate I think. The aroma of is so coconutty, apparently way more coconutty than last time, when I didn’t get much coconut scent in the brewed tea. Still no hint of bitterness, which is awesome. The taste is definitely coconut, and a blast of sweetness hits me on the back of the sip that I don’t remember from before; I think 4 minutes allows the chocolate chips to dissolve completely and really steeps the big coconut chunks. As the tea cools the sweetness resolves into a chocolatey goodness that compliments the coconut perfectly. I’m really digging this one with a full steep!

This is my first tea from Praise Tea Company, and I have to say I’m pretty impressed. The dried leaves had huge pieces of coconut in with them, and nice little chunks of cacao nibs. The leaves smelled powerfully like coconut with chocolate making up the base note. When brewed, the aroma becomes a little more muted; more chocolatey now, with a more subdued coconut. The taste is back to primarily coconut on the tongue, with lightly roasted chocolatey notes rounding it out. As it cools it becomes even more coconutty. No bitterness to this one at 3 minutes; next time I’ll try 4 to see how it fares. This is a really tasty tea, and I like how the chocolate isn’t overly roasted flavored. I can see myself ordering more teas from Praise!

MMM this is good! This tea smells just like it says… mango and black tea! That is what you smell and that is what you taste! When you open up the package, you smell the black tea more than mango but you can still smell the mango.

After the brew the mango is a bit more faint smelling. So when I took my first sip I was surprised by how much I could taste it! It is so good the black tea is smooth and the mango hits you more on the side and back of the mouth. It is really good and I can’t wait to try this iced. I think it would make a great summertime tea.

If you like mango and you want a good black tea this is one you should try.

Wow I love love love the smell of this tea, it just screams summer to me. I get peachy mango-ness love from this bag of tea! It is pretty too it bits and pieces of other colors and it sort of looks like there are pieces of confetti!

After the brew the tea was a light orange – amber color, with still a nice strong spicy peach smell. First taste yum, this is a mellow fruity black tea with a bit of astringency at the end. All of the fruit melds together and it is difficult to taste them individually but the main notes to me were peach and mango just as in the smell. The black tea is a nice background for this tea and I know that I am going to love this tea in the summer!

I love the smell of teas! They are all so different! This one to me smells like vanilla with a hint of citrus or orange to me. I don’t really smell the bourbon. But I could definitely smell the vanilla which I love!

After the brew, the smell is more black tea than anything else. It is a pretty dark amber color that I love! First sip, hmmmm tastes mainly like ….black tea :) but there is a slight sweetness at the end. After a few more sips yep that is about all I taste so I decide to let it cool a bit.

Now I can taste the vanilla and a hint of bourbon, and the flavors meld very nicely. This is a very subtle tea that has a bit of astringency at the end. It is good but not sure if it will be on my re-buy list.

My first tea from Praise Tea courtesy of Fairyfli. Thank you so much for sending me a taste! This is really good. Strawberry and cream flavors all on a black tea base. Lovely and very relaxing. If I did not have two other strawberry varieties in my cupboard, I think this one would defintely be on the list to purchase. It kind of reminds me of Marco Polo!

This tea is so unique and fun! When you open up the bag.. it smells like a Werthers candy… the strawberry and creme one… yummy!

I steeped it and it said just to steep for 2-3 min. for a black tea.. seems short but went with it. Boy am I glad that I went with it.

First taste is warm creamy black tea with a hint of strawberry… so good! I can’t believe how good this is. I wasn’t to sure if I would like this but I really do. I let it cool a bit and it allowed the strawberries to come out and when they came out to play they left my mouth nice and juicy. I love the creaminess and the fullness of this tea it is really really good, if you like strawberries and cream try it you won’t be dissapointed!
