TTB 2025 – This blend is delicious and well balanced. I could taste each of the individual ingredients- the smokiness of the Lapsang Souchong, the cinnamon, cloves, and cardamon. None of them overpowered the others, and every single one adds something to this tea.

Strange VariaTEA TTB #16

I don’t think I’ve ever had a smoky chai blend before…and now I’m questioning why not, because this is delicious! Everything is perfectly balanced: not too spicy; not too smoky. I drank it straight but I’m super curious to try it as a latte and see if that’s still good or if the smoke gets lost in the milk. This one may be staying with me. :)

#SVTTB Round Two – Tea 21/???

A lapsang blend inspired by Doctor Who? I mean, how could I resist!?

I think I fell in love with this tea from the first sip. It’s really smoky and robust, but also had an interesting and almost ‘cooling’ back of the chest sensation from all the spices. So much clove and cardamom! It’s very camphor heavy and earthy, but also kind of metallic in some interesting, pleasant ways. I found it really familiar tasting too, but couldn’t totally put my finger on why. I think, maybe, something about the clove notes in particular are making me think of the Pumpkin Irish Cream pu’erh blend from Butiki that I loved so much…

I think it’s pretty perfect for the character inspiration, and honestly just a fantastically balanced smoked chai profile. I’m heavily tempted to keep this one for myself, but I have no shortage of smoked teas to drink through and I think I can maybe recreate something similar by mixing some of the Chai I own with some of the lapsang. So back in the box it goes, but wow how lovely!
