This is a fun tea – it would be perfect for a tea party with kids. The dry blend is textured and colorful with a strong tangy smell. Watching it steep is the best part, the red pieces ooze a vivid magenta trail of color as they sink to the bottom. It does have a bit of sediment, but that’s to be expected from a rooibos tea. As for the flavor, it’s rather punchy to start: tart, with a lot of sourness coming from the apple. The citrus flavors are more subdued and the whole thing fades to a delightful sugar coated fruit flavor. I’m not super into fruity tea, or sweet teas, but this has a nice cooling effect. Sip it slowly, the tea gets more concentrated as you go, and the tartness builds on itself – drink it too fast and you’ll completely miss the subtle sweet notes at the end. This is one that changes a lot depending on what pieces you get in each cup- mine seems to have a lot more apple in it than anything else.

humm not sure what went wrong. Prepared exactly the same was as last time. It was bitter, seemed to have some strange aftertaste perhaps from an unknown sweetening agent.
Was not impressed and such a DRASTIC change from my last note. Odd.
Lowering rating. Maybe I have evolved. LOL

Received a generous sized free sample from Not Just Tea. Smells so beautiful THROUGH the bag even! This is the best vanilla flavor to date, and while I believe I recently said that about another vanilla tea from another company I have to say this tops that. Now I am not very experienced with honeybush tea so I am not really sure how to judge this as I really don’t know what I am looking for in honeybush itself however, I do love this tea.
Its very sweet.
Creamy full mouthfeel.
No astringency whatsoever and no aftertaste that I commonly get with vanilla flavoring.
Beautiful bright crimson red color.
You know how on some flavored teas you have to let it cool a little for the flavors to come out? Not with this one. I like to drink my tea steaming hot unless its an iced tea obviously. This one tastes amazing right out of the kettle!
Flavor lingers in the mouth which I like because it is SO yummy!
This is for sure a “dessert” tea but so guilt free!
I imagine this would also be delicious with a little milk added but its really not necessary at all.
Now I am not saying this is the most complex tea I have ever had by any means. It is what it is but what you smell is what you get and I like that!
This isn’t one of those teas that I feel you will sit there studying its unraveling layers but when you are in the mood for a sweet, creamy, vanilla, luscious, dessert tea – this is the one!

Added some honey this time… not really an improvement, the fruit flavors seem to clash with it somehow.

Fruit punch is a good comparison, although without any additions it’s a very tart kind of fruit punch flavor. And like fruit punch, the taste is extremely simple: strawberries and… really, just strawberries. A tasty enough but ultimately not unique choice for fans of tisanes that are predominately dried fruit.

Sample I found out about on Steepster. I placed my sample order on 3/16 and paid through PayPal. It ended up costing $2.80. 3/21 I received notice it was being shipped. It arrived today, 3/23, and was promptly had for dessert after dinner. It came with a nice pamphlet about their specialty tea blends and a hand written note on the bottom of my receipt.

Post-Steep Additives: 1 tsp German rock sugar, sweeter, softens the hibiscus but not much else.

I think this would taste good as a sweetened iced tea as well.

Resteep: was amazingly just as good as the first go!

How do you go about getting samples? Anything that has strawberry and hibiscus is something that I’d like to try.

however shipping was 2.80 to me, but it was a 4-6 tsp sample so the same if not more than i’d usually pay 2-3 $ for anyway

This herbal infusion was a lovely pink color in the cup. I tried it first without sweeteners and it was slightly astringent and rough but with a spoonful of honey the flavor smoothed out and the tartness of the hibiscus was brought to the fore.

Ordered a sample of this from etsy.com because it sounded interesting. It’s not as spicy as I’d normally like, but this is probably my new favorite tea. A bit of half and half and some sugar and NOM. So yummy! I’m bummed that I’m almost out of the 1 ounce sample, but I will be ordering more of this as soon as I go through a bit more of my current stash! To get your own go to notjusttea.com. You will not regret it!!!
