This tea is neither terrible nor fantastic but somewhere in the middle. It had a fairly strong aged taste of what I guess you would call tobacco and leather. Over ten steeps this slowly went away and I was left with something else, not sure if I would call it sweet but it certainly was not bitter. I think this tea is just on the verge of becoming a truly aged tea. We will see what it evolves into.

I steeped this ten times in a 160ml gaiwan with 9g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec. and 1 minute.

Got this about a month ago from King Tea on Aliexpress. It is a nice ripe with little bitterness, a sweet note from the start and a fair amount of fermentation flavor. The fermentation flavor was not of the unpleasant sort and certainly not fishy. Not sure exactly how I would characterize the sweet note. This was overall a very good tea.

I steeped this ten times in a 195ml Silver Teapot with 15.4g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec,and 1 min. I could easily have gotten four or five more steeps out of the leaves but ten steeps in a 195ml teapot is a lot of tea.

This is excellent tea with a moderate amount of fermentation flavor. The fermentation taste that was there was neither unpleasant nor fishy. There was very little bitterness to this tea. It had a sweet taste from the start. The fermentation lasted perhaps four or five steeps and then was gone. Not sure how to describe the sweet note that was the dominant note here. But it was good.

I steeped this twelve times in a 150ml gaiwan with 12.2g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 min. I have generally gotten good tea from John at King Tea on Aliexpress and this is no exception.

This is a very tasty tea with a lot of fermentation taste left. It was bittersweet in the first infusion, but began to lose it’s bitter character by the second infusion. The tea quickly got sweet tasting. This tea also happens to have one of the coolest wrappers, that dates back to when America and China were allies. It celebrates the American Volunteer Group or the Flying Tigers. King Tea states that this tea is also organic. It does taste good enough to be organic but I often wonder about sellers claims about their tea.

I steeped this tea ten times in a 120ml gaiwan with 9.6g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, and 1 min. The tea itself was not done but I have had about a liter and a half of tea and have had enough. If I wanted to continue I’m sure I could get four or five more steeps out of it. And it does check out as real. It glowed green under the black light.

This is the third tea I have drank from Aliexpress King Tea and it is pretty good. There was a fair amount of fermentation flavor in the early steeps. It began to clear around the fourth steep. Although it is too old a tea to have the Dayi green glow it does have in my opinion all the hallmarks of a real Dayi. So far it is my experience that the man does not sell fakes. After the fermentation flavor waned a sweet flavor and notes of what people call chocolate emerged. I say what people call chocolate because we all know what we refer to chocolate notes don’t taste like actual cocoa. Fruity notes emerged as well. There was little bitterness to this tea.

I steeped this tea eight times in a 180ml teapot with 11.2g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, and 30 sec. The leaves weren’t finished had I wanted to continue but I was at my caffeine limit. I think this tea would have gone at least twelve or more steeps.
