Interesting flavour – smoky yet refreshing. I prefer this with milk and a touch of sugar.

This is a glamorous earl grey with its pretty blue flowers. I love to lift the lid of the tin and take a big sniff – it has an exhilerating, yet delicate scent and makes a refreshing and uplifting drink – good first thing in the morning or mid afternoon with cake or other light foods. I have mine with semi-skimmed milk, no sugar or sweetener. Thirst-quenching and fragrant. Delightful.

drank Marco Polo by Mariage Frères

The descriptions on the Mariage Freres website are almost too mysterious to make any sense of what they taste like. I bought this because it is one of their most popular teas – and to me it tastes like strawberries and cream. It is quite delicious and one of the Mariage Freres books has a recipe for cooking duck in MarcoPolo tea – which I tried and can also recommend – I also made my own tea jelly using this tea – although you can buy the tea jelly from them online. This aroma from this tea in the cup is beautiful – reminiscent of summertime. Lovely.

The smell when you open a new pot of Wedding Imperial is such an amazing burst of caramel. I thought the tea might be too sickly to drink on a regular basis – but I was wrong – the caramel aroma is more subtle when the tea is in the cup – this is delicious and especially good with cakes or anything nutty or chocolatey – and equally good on its own. Delicious.

drank Thé au Sahara by Mariage Frères
11 tasting notes

I’ve only just discovered your site and this is the tea I happen to have in front of me now. It’s perfect for drinking at work while I’m at my desk – as its light and refreshing and has a lovely perfumed aroma of roses and mint. When I’ve finished my drink and left the tea dregs in the cup I can still smell the aroma – so it also makes my desk area smell fragrant and zingy. I also recommend Sahara as a drink with food – especially middle-eastern foods, salads and lunchtime sandwiches. Although it has a summery smell – I drink it year round. Its good with honey – but I drink it generally without. I either use a teapot or a teaspoon-strainer that sits in the cup. Its economical to use as I dont need much to make a good drink (level teaspoon) and even when its left to steep a while or left to get cold its still lovely. Also makes lovely iced tea. Highly recommended.

This is another delicious go to for a breakfast pick me up – enjoy this tea a lot!

I feel like this blend has declined over the past few years, as it used to have a more robust flavor and flowery notes. The most recent tin I purchased had more cocoa hints and felt like a different quality of tea entirely, from the batch I had bought 3 years or so before. It is still a decent tea, but I must say, it didn’t really hold up to the first batch I purchased.

Took this tea on deployment and it was the perfect pick me up after a horrible dinner of under done fish or over baked chicken. Its licorice flavor was charming and yet not over powering and the scent upon first approach is awakening. While i love honey in my tea this one holds the pleasssant ability to do quiet well without.
Well done, Mariage Freres!

I could not quite decide what tea to have, nothing seemed right, this was more or less like a chance choice. And oh wow, I had been so unfair to this tea, it can be so so nice, I keep forgetting how very nice it can be.

I used a generous helping for a cup, very hot water (just a minute or two after boiling) and did not let it steep too much, I was making up for it with tea quantity, and added just a little smidgeon of sugar. I got the caramel, the vanilla and cocoa notes nice and clear, but underneath it all a very nice tea (assam? I am seriously revising my opinion on it) make it TEA. Lovely, why do I keep overlooking this?

A warning, lovely as this is, it can turn absolutely vile if you let it steep too long.

thank you for the advice about steeping time, I just bought this one and will try it this week.

I keep overlooking this actually – it was my first MF tea, am now on the second tin, poor thing keeps getting overlooked by the newer things. And now am getting seriously into Pleine Lune with milk and honey which sort of of takes away Wedding´s Imperial niche for when i want something flavourful, desserty and with milk.

This is an old love, a few years ago i was wildly infatuated with this blend. And it is still lovely, it still tastes the same, but my affections for this thing (caramel, chocolate, black tea) seem to have been unfairly alienated by Yumchaa´s Caramel Sweetheart (milk mandatory). Maybe unfairly, because Caramel Sweetheart is denser, less just-tea, but maybe irrevocably. Lovely caramel tea, but an ex-love.

I so understand the “ex-love” thing!!! so many of those in my cupboard…

cteresa

it´s an ex-love, but I think we can remain on friendly terms. And I forgot to mention something I have been noticing (for a few hours after drinking this), it´s a very “peppy” tea. Maybe higher on caffeine than I used to, but this blend does seem to give me a lot of energy. Still a place in my life for it – if only all ex-loves on the cupboard were the same.

well, this is the scraping of the barrel, the last lost little broken dusty bits at the end of the tin. So this tasting might not be too fair, because of that and because the tin was bought a couple years ago.

It is lovely. I think by now the caramel overtone is topmost note, though I can also catch some vanilla and some chocolate. It tastes almost almondy to me as well.

Very very good, though I will probably take a break from it right now and buy instead maybe Thé sur le Nil. In Autumn I will reconsider buying – maybe this is a season prejudice of mine, but Wedding Imperial is in my mind, a very winter-ish type of tea.

The extraordinary chocolate aroma is covered by the black tea sents after steeping, but the vanilla persists making it a smooth and enjoyable morning-afternoon tea. Gently spices the tongue.

I just tasted it with a gaiwan and it is delicious. The first flush exhaled an delicate smell and made me eager to try it. I expected a heavier taste due to the lengthy oxidation however, it renders sweet, round and soothing for the spirit.

Living in France, I didn’t even know we had such thing as a French Breakfast Tea, unless it’s made from coffee beans :D But I see quite a few references with this name on steepster, so it must exist. This was a Christmas present, along with my beloved Thé à l’Opera and a rooibos tin.

To the point then. The scent is present, not stong, and it is very pleasant. It smells like the cake we make in eastern Europe for some occasions, which is plain cake with a swirl of a walnut and chocolate paste.. quite a gourmand scent I’d say.

Now this is a light tea, not exactly what I need for breakfast before rushing to the office (I’ll stick with Irish tea + milk here).
It’s more of a spring-vacation-when-you-have-nothing-to-do-but-take-your-time-and-dream-of-beautiful-things,- wearing-L’heure bleue- and-waiting-for-prince-charming-to-come breakfast tea.
I’d definitely have this tea the morning in a café, looking at the sun rise, people going by and just enjoy the day.

Not my usual mornings.

Pretty darn awesome! This one’s difficult to get around here, but the warm mellow flavour compliments my habit of putting milk in everything and is a special treat when I visit my mother in law.

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me a bit of this tea – it’s one that I’ve wanted to try for a while now!

The floral notes of this tea are very pleasant – sharp yet sweet, and an excellent contrast with the brisk flavor of the black tea and the sumptuous flavor of the fruit.

Delicious! I’m really glad I got to try this!
