Recent Tasting Notes

Drank another of these while writing my tasting notes tonight. Nothing else really to add in this moment, but wanted to get a quick note up to make sure my tally here on Steepster is accurate…

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I picked up a few cans of this sparkling iced tea the last time I went grocery shopping since I haven’t really revisited it since DT released our Sparkling Cold Brew drinks, and I thought it might be nice to taste again. Definitely juicy and bright with a really perky flavour of fresh grapefruit juice, but bolstered by the highly aromatic, slightly floral and very low and bass-y taste of the bergamot. It just immediately adds a depth of flavour that I find so interesting with the lively pink grapefruit. Very enjoyable! I’m still super proud of this LOOP collab – it’s so different from the Cream of Earl Grey sparkling cold brew we developed, but they both explore DT’s Earl Grey blends is such fun ways.

So, DAVIDsTEA recently collaborated with local company LOOP, who makes REALLY good juices using upcycled produce, to create this sparkling iced tea using our Earl Grey tea! It launched just last week, and as part of the launch our office has been very well stocked with cans of it for everyone to enjoy!

The combination of sweet, zesty grapefruit and Earl Grey is so refreshing. The drink is very grapefruit forward and it’s honestly more of a sparkling juice than a tea, which does make sense given that’s LOOP’s whole thing. However, the Earl Grey does come though and adds more depth to the otherwise very bright, juicy sweet pink grapefruit notes. It’s such a complex combination of different citrus fruits and honestly it’s just sooooo summery and refreshing.

I know this is just one of four SKUs that LOOP has released as part of this line of sparkling iced tea/juices (the others don’t use DAVIDsTEA), and I do want to get my hands on all of them because I just think the concept is so cool and I really, really do love LOOP as a company. All the work they do with re-purposing fruits is very impressive to me.

I believe it’s sold in Canada on both the LOOP and DT websites!
