drank Chocoholic by Look Organic Tea

Getting sweet feckin’ nuthin’ from this tea, even when I add some monk fruit to sweeten it. I remember a bit of the nut flavoring from the old 52 Teas; it had a woody dryness to it, which says to me they use similar flavoring.

Okay, I get it. It’s tough to get organic nut flavor into tea (why not just use nuts? I don’t get it), to an already flavorful base. Also, they blend their own teas here, so mucho points for that. Still, I can’t imagine how anyone would get nut, cream, hazelnut, anything… from this, much less sell it as a “chocoholic”. It’s not BAD tea, it’s just not at all as it’s represented.

Oh my goodness. Raisins. I smell raisins in this. What the?

drank Beautea by Look Organic Tea

This is one of the more unusual teas I’ve ever tried, and when the staff told me they hand-blend all the teas themselves, that explained it. Almonds and goji, cocoa nibs and licorice, encompassed in a white tea base.

The smell is absolutely to die for, and hard to explain. Light and fruity, mostly. Depth of something. It’s the kind of tea that needs sweetener to pop though, and I had none to try it with (that I can actually use). So.. it’s pretty flavorless on its own, a touch buttery, very light.

Really pushing it with this tea, having it twice within a few days of one another. I’m on a massive purge – mostly energetic, a good part physical, and definitely emotional as well – and this tea helps. Plus, it doesn’t make me sick. Or, if it does, I’m embracing it now, and allowing my body to let go of whatever it needs to, using this tea as a method to do so.

As with last time, I notice the mouthfeel of this tea – it’s buttery, almost (not quite) oily. Really odd, really fun, really interesting.

So, my body and I (up until now!) have had a love-hate relationship with oolong tea. I don’t know why, no one has really ever explained it to me, I just know that if I drink oolong – even without knowing it – I get sick within a minute. Violently nauseous, usually.

Someone along my path suggested I drink more oolong, because the reaction was flushing impurities out of my body. Bah. I resisted. Screw that.

Well, now in my new being, I’m saying yes. I’m trying everything. If it hurts, it’s painful, it feels weird or just “new”, I’m leaning into it. Sitting with it. Seeing how it feels. Playing with it even! So far, I’ve had massive breakthroughs because of it, albelt… well let’s just say I’ve had more change, and dramatically so, in the past few months than my entire life combined. And it’s mine. I own it. I’m also proud of it, and of me, for my courage.

So, this tea. I knew I had to try it, so I grabbed a cup. Just a cup. I knew i’d have to give it a few go-rounds before I could move on to other teas… but I had to really sit with this one. “Crap, there’s senna in it?” said my resistant brain. My mouth however said, “Cool, I’ll try it”.

I really enjoyed this (novel-worthy) tea, although I can’t remember why exactly. I just know that when I finished it, as I returned home from the library, I still hadn’t gotten sick.

Delicate, very fruity (even unsweetened), with only a touch of floral – just the way I like these kinds of “tropical” greens. Definitely one i’ll enjoy again, although nothing I’d go bonkers over to have in my cupboard. Just, solid.

Grabbed a mini-package of this in-store, as I try to stop in every time I hit the downtown public library. Fitting for my first review in what feels like ages…

drank Orange Chai by Look Organic Tea

New tea company in Library Square (Vancouver), so I had to try it. This is the one I brought home with me; the other tea I had in store tasted of plastic. Yeah. Boo. :( So… had a cup of this today. I’d say it’s more orange than chai anything, and the rooibos pulled through more than I would have liked… I’ll try again and steep it for less than five minutes, perhaps that will help?

is this the expensive one IN the library?

MissB

Hm. I mean, it’s across the hallway? There’s a tea place actually on one of the floors of the main downtown library, after you walk through security? I’ll have to find that.
