The TTB has arrived! So big, so many teas… no chance to try them all!
Tea #7

I could tick every single symptom written in the description today. So that’s why I took this tea, because I thought it couldn’t hurt.

The dry leaf is amazingly familiar and I wasn’t sure what was it until I smelled a few times. Then I found out, it’s a childhood memory of one of first tea shops in my hometown, which was pretty smelling much similar. It was one of the brick and mortar store with herbal teas mostly, some spices and rarely some “real” teas. They used to have some tea bags which made sense as colleting the outer wrappers was booming back then. They are closed though for 15 years now maybe?

That said, it was an nicely smelling tea and considering the issues I have, it was certainly a tea as a remedy.

I won’t lie, it didn’t helped me much. But it had quite a nice flavour, a bit bitter and overall somehow just herbaceous. But it wasn’t bad.

Smell memories are strong, aren’t they? For some reason, your note made me remember my Grandma’s back porch scent—dust, dampness, and black walnuts.

Oh goodness, I steeped this one way too long. It’s SO bitter. Better luck next time. I think I’ll try a 5-minutes steep instead.

I put too much honey in this one so that’s mostly what I taste. Before steeping, it had a very perfumy fragrance, though not in a negative way. I don’t know if I would call it floral, maybe I would, but it was definitely not spicy like some of the other blends I’ve tried from this company.

Having an herbal this Monday morning to celebrate today’s sipdown theme, National Freedom Day / Black History Month. Herbing Legends is a Black-owned business focused mostly on herbal smoking blends, but they also sell each of their blends loose leaf. I reached out to the owner to see if these can be steeped as a tisane as well and she said yes! I bought a few to try based on the descriptions and watched a video on their Instagram showing how these should be steeped. Following her lead – a heaping teaspoon per cup, steep five minutes.

This one has a spicy aroma, like black pepper. There isn’t any black pepper in the blend though, and I’m not very familiar with all of the ingredients so I’m not sure what is giving that impression. I was sold by the description this morning with words like inspired and motivated, a great way to start your day. I can’t say I’m feeling more motivated after drinking it (I’m actually really sleepy and unmotivated), but I did really enjoy the flavor. It’s not spicy or bitter to taste as I expected from the scent, but I did add some coconut milk to balance the black pepper aroma and give it somewhat of a chai latte feel.

I had to look for three of those ingredients. I am sure it was a bit interesting tea to try and indeed interesting flavour :)
